10mm Kara Koyunlu Sultan's Guard as an ally for MeG Aq Koyunlu

Six bases of Kara Koyunlu Sultan's Guard. Also know as Black Sheep Turkomen, an allied unit for my White Sheep Turkomen. Threatening Mix of browns and blacks, with white flashes and horn details on some. TB line Islamic lancers. Lovely figures, great fun to paint, They will be used as Kurdish lancers in MeG, so one unit is majority yellow, the other majority green. Lemon-ish and Lime-ish Kurd-ish! To be added to my mongols when they pretend to be Ak Koyunlu (White Sheep Turkomen) Top view Off they trot My view CHARGE! Quote Quick Edit More...

10mm Later Medievals for 'God Wills It'

My forces for 'God Wills It' crusader themed competition are complete, suppose I can now declare for... A few extra bases done... 15 bases of crossbows. Not often seen in England, but the rest of Europe was still using them, and if I want to break away to my new army and away from my Anglo-centric bias, what better way? Why 15 bases? a) Because many units in Crusader lists have them as back ranks, so my Henrician billmen or medieval spears make the front rank? b) Because 15 x 8 = 90 figures and is three packs c) Because I can't count? Eight to a base for loose foot in MeG, also allows me to show off the loader figure at the back of each stand. It's a lot of bolts! To denote maybe my mounted crossbows as they dismount, or maybe the one superior foot unit in the army, and matching in with many contemporary illustrations of armoured crossbows, here are a tooled up crossbow unit.  Side view Stick these behind the Tudor foot knights and it gets the message acr...

MeG Crusader period try out vs Paul

Last week, Paul and I headed up to Leighton Buzzard Wargames club for a try out game of Crusader period armies of ' God Wills It ' a competition later in the year. So, if you look very carefully, you will see random 10mms and 15mms proxying in to units in my army as I tried something completely leftfield. This was actually our second try out, I was struggling to find a list in the Crusader period that I really liked, but after Paul completely tonked my attempt at Later Lithuanians the week before 0-15, I needed something different. I keep trying mounted forces, they really aren't for me. So, a foot army, but which one? That might get revealed later, or not, depends how well it goes ! (Do you know how difficult it is to try and write a match report without revealing details). Terrain, very dense, but EVERYTHING I put down Paul rolled a 6 for. 5 x 6 in a row, and his terrain choices hit the forest and bounced out! Swear that die is weighted, coz when I roll it it puts ou...
