Blitzkreig Commander IV: All Out Assault between 139th Borcesters and Kamphgroup Thomaz

Phillip invited me for a game of BKCIV at Leighton Buzzard Wargames Group. His mighty Kampgroup Thomaz vs the 139th Light Heavy Infantry under Lt Col Antrobus. Timeframe: Late 1941. 2000 points each. Only thing not allowed was prepared bombardments. I forgot that bit, and bought one anyway, but did not use it!Phil is a great chap, and has beautiful forces and great terrain, what is not to like? My list, this time, Antrobus has aquired the help of a squadron of Lend Lease tanks, his newly added Valentines, and the three Crusaders that he was used to. One infantry company with the veterans and the mortars had the Valentines, the other was led by Antrobus had the HMGs, the Bofurs and the four lend-lease tanks. Both had two trucks and a carrier platoon. The third command the Humber and the three Crusader tanks. No 2lbers, portee or dismounted will be used. 139th Light Heavy Infantry, in their prime, so far down the Army Order of Precidence that the retired lighthouse keepers bin emptiers f...

Blitzkrieg Commander IV - Battle at The Oasis

*Waits for band jokes* Mark & Dave wanted another go at BKC before they fly solo the week after next, so sides were swapped, extra CO stands added, and forces adjusted to new points. Terrain came out the box, and the Brits rolled onto table. While I swung the 139th Borcesters up the left of middle, supported by the three Crusaders. My (yet to be named) CO brought on two platoons of the Guards in Uniersal Carriers, a Humber A/C, and a truck with the HMG and mkII 3" Mortar platoon stands on my left, who rolled a '2' headed to the ruined village at the oasis as quickly as possible. Where is rest of the armour you ask? Those oh-so-useful Mk13s? Well, they blundered their deployment roll! Seriously! Three games I've used them, each time they do something woefull! Thankfully, they rolled a 5 and were only delayed a turn. The Commander of the 4th & 9th Hussars is currently undergoing a ' HARD STARE '  Thankfully, the 2lber Portees and the Crusaders ma...

Second BKC IV game in the Western Desert.

Stephen and I got together for another game of BKCIV in the Western Desert. My forces were unchanged from last time, while Stephen brought a mix of Italian armour, infantry and a German recee company and we played 'Encounter' again. Eight turns of fun to go! Colonel Antrobus (Family motto ' Forsitan postea ') and the 3/139th Borcester Light Heavy Infantry had arrived further into the Western Desert. No one is quite sure how they got there in the first place. They just sort of arrived in Alexandria one day, and when reporting to HQ for orders, after  having been told to 'Naff off and get lost', had picked what they thought was a nice, quiet, sector. The Borcester's were not looking for action, but again, action has found them. The desert, nothing deployed yet, but much closer terrain than before, allowing us cover and defence. Turn 1 : All of us (including Stephen's two commanders on CV9 and one on CV8) failed to appear. Turn 2 :  The Borches...
