Three sided Mortal Gods Mythic - Jason & The Argonauts vs Zeus's Monsteers and Hades's Undead Hordes.

The heroes of Thespia reclined around another campfire. The borders had been quiet of late, so tall tales were being told as the stars span above and food devoured. Tychon the Archer, leaning back after a perticularly fine fowl for dinner, looked at the others. "Of course, with Jason and The Argonauts, we did go treasure hunting..." "Oh, here we go again!" Polykratos groaned. "What, don't you like a nice fairy tale before bedtime?" laughed Leandros.  Mark, Dave and I has arranged a nice, civil, game of Mortal Gods this week. Dave set out his terrain, amd because I get to the club later, was given the final deployment point. The scenario was a treasure hunt amd grab. My force, Jason, Atalanta, Argonauts, three sets of hoplites, some archers and Tychon.  Jason has the Sword of Justice, The Golden Fleece and is Immortal, while Tychon has been gifted the Bow of Apollo.  Mark has a group of centaurs, two warriors, two archers, and a leader. He also had a h...

Burrows & Badgers: Battle At The Camp

Sitting by the light of candles, the Mage looked around. her party lacked a member. "Where is the Warrior?" she asked from beneath her mask, as she took a drink from a golden goblet. "Not seen him since he went off wandering," the Knight replied, sharpening his axe on  whetstone; much to the discontent of the other denizens of the bar. The Armadillo with No Name picked his teeth with the skewer that he had had a grub from. "He said he was helping out a trade caravan."  The Ranger looked at the Knight and hissexunder her breath, "Put the axe down, you are scaring the locals!" There was a thump as the axe was placed on the floor. various animals suddenly took a lot more interest in their drinks and food. "You might want to read the mission briefing next time Knight," the Ranger laughed, the mood lifted, "you were told that the victim was not to be harmed." "Victim, you mean fugitive." The Knight shook his head, "...

Dead Man's Hand: The Good, The Lead, and The Ugly

"Cue Harmonica music" "Cue tumbleweed" ""Stuntman fall off roof" Cliff very kndly agreed to take me through a game or three of 'Dead Man's Hand - Redux', which allowed me to get out a batch of 28mm Wils West figures that I probably haven't used since the days of Warhammer: Legends of The Old West which we played in 2004 onwards! Think I might even have sold mine. But I still have a gang of Lawmen, and a squad of US Infantry too. Cliff only has the basic rules (otherwise my Commanche might well have come out), so Lawmen it was!  The game splits into three 'Scenes', basically scenarios. One player is the good guy (I am the law), the other the baddie, and many old movies get quoted!  Scenario 1:  The bad guys take afront at the new guy in town and call him out in the street: In this case, my Marshal (yes, many were black, especially in the Post-Civil War era, it was a well-paid position) faces off against three of Cliff's tou...

Burrows & Badgers - Escort home!

As they stood round the bed, he heard them... "Well, out of the two of you, you definitly got the brains!" "And looking at that shoulder, you've probably got the brawn too now!" The Knight opened his eyes to see the Fox Force standing round, grinning. His shoulder stung, but at least he could move both his forepaws, so that was a plus. He doubted he would yse his axe with full force from now on. Even the crisp, white, light sheet felt like it was pressing his arm down. At least the sunlight streamed in. "Did we succeed?" His voice was croaky, hos throatbwas dry, he must have been out for days. "Well," His sister, The Mage stroked her chin under the mask she habitually wore, "Master Toad had gone a courting..." "But his attention had wavered, and he decided to stay away away from home," the Warrior added. "His father, Mr. Toad, must not have liked that, he was paying well for his son's return!" Laughed the Ra...

Burrows & Badgers - The Ambush of the Duke of Duckington.

The large leverett approached the table she sat at, and, clutching soft cap in paws, coughed politely to attract the Fox mage's attention. "What do you desire?" The fox looked round, her face shielded by a white mask. Whether this made her more or less scary than the scars it hid was a matter of debate. The leverett whispered quietly, and placed some pennies on the table. The vixen mage  smiled, almost kindly, reached into her cloak, and with a flourish of sparks, placed a silver necklace embedded with semi-precious stones on a cloth in front of the wide-eyed hare. It glowed slightly with a white and green aura, "It will help her, but won't cure her fully, she needs a proper priest and lots of fresh air and baths for that..." The young hare n9dded, took the proffered item, and scuttled off. The Vixen made a sign to Roddy Pewt, the Newt, the owner and (partial) namesake of the bar. He reached under the counter, and produced the crystal goblet and bottle of v...

Scrapjacks - trial game at Graham's

Graham kindly invited me roud for another game. This time we were trialing the pre-release version of ' Scrapjack s' by Stalker 7. This is a cooperative (or even solo) Sci-Fifsalvage game; where your team of four has to explore and recover items from desolate areas of space. Assume broken spaceships, abandoned stations, but are they actually abandoned? As Graham and I were trialing there were no official floorplans or models, yet. So, an ad-hoc selection of miniatures from Graham's amazing collection (more retro spacesuits/diving suits than hi-tech gear here) and his great portable terrain system. Our team of four enter the area. Each team is made up of different characters, and I'm sure as the rules are finalised, more will become apparent, but ours had a hacker, a fighter, a medic and a fixer types, giving a useful spread of skills across three different stat types. Aim is to sweep each room for goodies and salvage, complete missions for rewards, and survive. That las...

Warhammer Old World, Combined Forces of Goblotopia vs Lizardmen

Mark and I got together for a fight. Warhammer Old World at 2000 points. I decided to use my Goblin forces of 'Waaargh Jason' from Goblotopia, while Mark used his Lizards. On the left, Stumpy Jason and his wolf riders, then skirmishing archers, a bolt thrower, big unit of Night goblin spears, with my army standard Not As Big Jason and my general Big Jason (mk III, this time without the giant squig), on their right a large unit of Night Goblin archers. Facing off - Mark's cold one riders, big lizards, a low level shaman, more lizards, skink skirmishers and a Slann high level mage. On the right, the rest of the archers (I said it was big, it filled the hill), Weird Jason a level 4 mage; squigs and herders, spider riders, then a unit of Goblin wolf rider archers, out of shot, cautious Jason and his wolf riders. Opposing this half, past the slann, more lizard warriors, more skirmishing skinks (two units), and fire breathing salamanders. Mark advanced a unit of skinks in cover ...
