Back to School Project

Today Nikki Sivils and Ribbon Carousel are doing a blog hop.
The Ribbon Carousel will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to the Ribbon Carousel Store and Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker will be giving away a scrapbooking kit (winner's choice!)

I used Nikki's School is Cool line, along with some trims from the Ribbon Carousel (ABC twill and red/white striped ribbon), to alter this magnetic white board.

The ABC twill was a great way to enhance the school theme. I added it along the top of the strips of patterned paper.

You know me and my banners :) For this one, I used the cut-ups from School is Cool, punched holes in the corners of the pennants, and threaded the red/white striped ribbon through. I knotted the ends to finish it off.

The punch-outs made perfect magnets! I just looped the ribbon and adhered it to the back of each punch-out. Then I added a thin magnet to the back of each as well.

This was a fun project to put together--Miranda is really excited to use it this year (though not as excited about having to memorize the periodic table. Haha!)

School IS Cool . . .

especially with this fun line from Nikki Sivils.

I have some School Is Cool projects up on Nikki's blog today:

You can read more about each of the projects HERE.

Also, Nikki and Katrina have a great project kit that includes School Is Cool available this month. It is a fabulous deal and a has project ideas included. HERE is more info on that.

Hope your August is going well. We are really enjoying summer . . . off for more sunshine :)

5 days and counting . . .

Today is the kids' last day of school before winter break. I'm heading down this afternoon to help with the holiday craft in Krish's class. I put together a "Let It Snow" garland for each student to make. It should be fun!

Do you still have some Christmas cards to make? Here is a quick one I put together yesterday with the November Hip kit, SRM stickers, some gems, and a brad from my stash:

Enjoy your Tuesday!

ps--Have you tried Haagen Daaz Peppermint Bark ice cream? YUM!

First Day of Kindergarten

He is SO ready for this day.

Mom . . . not so much.

My sweet baby, Bird. Off to school.

He has been my sidekick for the past 6 years.

Oh, how I'm going to miss him each day when he gets on that bus.

And how anxious I'll be to see the bus coming up the hill to drop him off.

HE is ready.

I am not.

And they are off . . .

First Day of School. Should I feel excited? Banana pancakes for breakfast, per Bird's request. Miranda was up by 6:30am and we were off to her school by 7:10.
7th grade . . . really? Love this girl!

When I returned home from dropping off Miranda, the other kids were up and getting ready. They ate breakfast and I made their lunches. Standard fare: PB sandwiches, string cheese, grapes, and Cheez-its (gag, but they like them). I'm hoping Lina and Krish will remember to buy their milk at school. And I'm hoping they still have money on their account because I forgot to send the check with them.
4th grade! (I love her outfit). She is so sweet.

2nd grader ready for his "beary" exciting year. (I tried to talk him into some different shorts but he wanted to wear these hand-me-downs instead. Whatever. Glad they aren't too concerned with fashion).

Merek and Bird are hanging out with me today. Bird has his kindergarten assessment after we pick Miranda up from school. Then we'll get the other kids.

First day of K is Friday. That will be a hard day for me.

Monday Madness

Really? School starts tomorrow? Goodness, where has the summer gone?

We found out the kids' teachers on Friday. We get to "Meet the Teacher" today.

Krish got mail from his teacher on Saturday. He was so excited! She sent a letter from her, one from a student in her class last year, and a puzzle for him to put together with a special message. He also had an "About Me" form to fill out and take back to her today.

This week the Boeing Classic (Senior PGA tour) was in town. We are fortunate to live on the street along the 18th fairway so we can walk up to the clubhouse. We spent some time there both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, watching the leaders finish out their rounds. It came down to a tie at the end of the tournament so a playoff hole was needed. It was fun to watch. Makes me want to golf again.

With school starting, I'm trying to figure out a good breakfast/lunch schedule for the kids. I try to make them a hot breakfast each morning before school. They take lunch from home, too. (School lunch is $3.25. Three kids times $3.25 times 5 days each week=too much).

I'd love to hear some great breakfast and lunch ideas from you, to give us a little variety in the schedule. My kids really aren't too picky of eaters so any suggestions are welcomed!

Hope your day goes well. :)
