Downton Abbey

Obiecałam już jakiś czas temu napisać o Downton Abbey.

Troszkę czasu zeszło, dobijam powoli do końca 5 serii.

I nadal jestem tym filmem zafascynowana.

Co mi się tak bardzo podoba w tym serialu?

Po pierwsze to, że jest na wskroś brytyjski:-)

Some time ago I promised to write about Downton Abbey.

I'm finishing the 5th series now and I still love it.

What do I like about it?

First of all, it's so British:-)

Serial bardzo trafnie ukazuje zmiany społeczne, które zachodziły po pierwszej wojnie światowej
w społeczeństwie angielskim oraz przystosowanie się dużych majątków ziemskich do nowych trendów gospodarczych i ekonomicznych.

It showes accurately all the social changes which the British society had to face after the First World War and how the big masions fought to adjust to new economic realities.

Serial jest niczym innym jak sagą rodziny Crawley, ale jednocześnie
przedstawia losy jej służby. Poznajemy dwa osobne światy: Upstairs - czyli wyższa sfera
i downstairs - czyli służba. Losy obu tych światów się przeplatają. Świetnie jest również ukazane to jak służba potrafiła kierować wyższą sferą w taki sposób, żeby zawsze postawić na swoim. Oczywiście film pokazuje też wszelkiego rodzaju niesnaski i sztuczki, które służba wykorzystywała w walce o coraz wyższe stanowisko, oraz to jak potrafili jeden drugiego wygryzać ze stanowiska. Jakże mi to przypomina prawa rządzące dzisiejszymi korporacjami.

The series tells the story of the Crawley family and their servants. There are two different worlds: Upstairs - the upper class and Downstairs - the servants. The fates of both worlds are interchanging. While watching you have a closer look at all those tricks that servants had to get it all their own way. It also presents all the figting and blackmailing among the servants, and how far they could get in order to be promoted. It is so similiar to Corp's world which many of us have to deal with every single day.

Oglądam też ten serial ze względu na Maggie Smith,
która jest klasą samą w sobie i przedstawiać jej chyba nie potrzeba.
Jej riposty i cięty język są dodatkowym atutem serialu.

I also watch this series because of Maggie Smith,
who is an incredible actress and she doesn't need any special introduction.
Her ripostes and repartee make this film even more watchable.

Królowa jest tylko jedna:-)

Zestawienie Lady Violet Crawley z Lady Isobel Crawley sprawia,

że serial warto oglądać tylko ze względu na te Panie.

Lady Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) is juxtaposed with
Lady Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton)
and it is a good enough reason to watch the series.

Nieprawdaż, że jest na czym oko zawiesić?

Nie przepadam za blondynami, ale jego mogę oglądać bez końca.

          Isn't he gorgeous?
I rather don't like blond men, but this one is an exception. 

Jeżeli oglądaliście ostatnio jakieś brytyjskie produkcje warte obejrzenia, 

proszę napiszcie, żebym miała co oglądać jak skończę z Downton Abbey.

Gwiazd naszych wina

Witajcie,

Chciałam Wam dzisiaj polecić film na długie zimowe wieczory.

Gwiazd naszych wina, bo o nim mowa, jest co prawda filmem dla nastolatków, 

ale myślę, że starsi też mogą go obejrzeć.

Oczywiście, uprzedzam przed oglądaniem trzeba zaopatrzyć się 

w dużą ilość chusteczek ponieważ łzy się leją, 

ale mimo wszystko odbieram ten film bardzo pozytywnie.

Podoba mi się za to, że bohaterowie pomimo iż 

walczą z rakiem mają bardzo dużo dystansu do siebie.

Myślę, że będę często do niego wracać.

Więc kto go jeszcze nie oglądał to serdecznie polecam.

Można też komuś bliskiemu zrobić fajny prezent gwiazdkowy:-)

                                                                                                                                                               

Hello,

I wanted to recommend one of the best films I've recently seen, 

although I think that you must have seen it at earlier, 

well in Poland it is one of the newest releases.

The Fault in Our Stars is a film for teenagers

but I think that adults can also watch it.

Dispite the fact that you cry a lot during this film (have a lot of tissues)

 I still think that the movie gives positive emotions.

 The heroes keep their distance from their lethal disease 

and this is what I like the best.

I think I will often come back to it.

If you haven't watched it yet then I strongly recommend it to you.

It will be also a nice Christmas present for someone you love:-)

Czy może kojarzycie jakieś filmy lub książki 

gdzie bohaterowie uczą się języków obcych?

To jest moje zadanie domowe, 

a pomyślałam sobie, że co "dwie" głowy to nie jedna.

Mam już kilka przykładów, ale może Wy wpadniecie na coś jeszcze.

in which protagonists learn foreign languages?

It's my homework and since "two" heads are better than one 

I thought that maybe you could help me.

I've already had some examples but 

maybe you will come up with something new.

Wszystko dla Pań

Jesienny czas, krótsze dni sprawiają, że z przyjemnością wieczorami siadam 

z filiżanką dobrej herbaty albo kakao na kanapie 

i albo czytam książkę,  albo oglądam moje ulubione filmy.

Ostatnio w Empiku znalazłam serial produkcji BBC "Wszystko dla Pań" 

(tytuł oryginalny The Paradise) 

na podstawie powieści Emile Zola.  

Książki niestety nie czytałam, są różne opinie co do adaptacji, 

ale do mnie przemawia już sam fakt iż jest to produkcja BBC i film jest kostiumowy 

więc nie mogłam go nie kupić.

Nie zawiodłam się, film bardzo mi się podoba 

i jak zacznę oglądać to na jednym odcinku nigdy nie kończę. 

Oczywiście jest to film raczej dla osób lubiących klimaty angielskie.

Jak dla mnie wszystko jest w nim doskonałe. 

Wnętrza, stroje i język:-)

Film był nagrywany między innymi w Biddick Hall, w hrabstwie Durham w Anglii.

Zobaczcie sami czy ta posiadłość nie jest piękna?

Sam Paradise czyli filmowy dom handlowy jest fantastycznie urządzony 

i z przyjemnością sama robiłabym tam zakupy.

Główne role grają w nim: 

Joanna Vanderham - Denise Lovett i Emun Elliott - John Moray.

Autumn time, shorter days make me sit with a cup of good tea on the sofa
and read a book or watch my favourite movies.

Recently, I have bought 'The Paradise' based on classic novel by Emile Zola.

I haven't read the book, yet.
You can find different opinions about the film on the Internet,

but for me the fact that the serie was made by BBC
and this is a costume film were enough reasons to buy the film.

I was not dissapointed, I really like the serie.

And when I start watching it I always watch more than one episode. 

It is definitely for those who like English traditions and culture.

For me everything in this film is perfect.

Interiors, costumes, and English language:-)

One of the places where the film was made is Biddic Hall, County Durham in England.

Just have a look how beautiful it is.

The Paradise is the film's depatrament store which has got great interiors
and I wish I could do some shopping there.

The main rolee are played by Joanna Vanderham - Denise Lovett
and Emun Elliott - John Moray.

Obecnie nakręcono tylko dwie serie, a szkoda bo ogląda się go z przyjemnością.

Idealny na jesienno wieczorne seanse filmowe.
