Musica Antiqua Citolibensis (4 CDs)



"(...) Citobily, a town not quite 60 kilometers from Prague, lies in the the immediate vicinity of Louny, a former royal city. From the 17th to the 20th century it was the center of a vast estate which passed into the inheritance of the Counts of Pachta, a family of Rájov. The Patchas had an extraordinary love of music and thus a need to surround themselves with a talented musicians, not only in their Prague places, but also in their country estates. This was the state of affairs in Citoliby at the time when the town belonged to Arnost Karel Pachta (1718-1803). During these years, Citoliby was pratically exploding with the creative talent of its local musicians, and it would be no exaggeration to speak of a "Citoliby school" of composers during the second half of the 18th century.
