The Harvest of Grace

Author: Cindy Woodsmall
Genre: Romance, life, Amish
Series: Ada's House series
Number in series: 3rd
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 352
Time period: Present
Main characters: Aaron, Sylvia, characters/couples from previous books
My overall opinion: I enjoyed it! I would have liked it even more, I think, had I read the first book first, but this book was certainly worth the read. A very sweet story.

Each character of the book was one that I could fully empathize with. Each was described enough that I really got to know them. I loved how strong Sylvia was and how determined both Sylvia and Aaron were. Their trust in God was clearly evident by the end of the book.
While I wish that it had been possible for me to read the first two books first, this one was a book that I greatly enjoyed, despite not having read the others yet. I think that especially anyone who's read those first two (namely, The Hope of Refuge and The Bridge of Peace) would love this one, since you get a little continuation of the stories in those books.
I recommend this book to anyone with a love for Amish romance and sweet love stories.

Cover Focus: The Harvest of Grace

The Harvest of Grace by Cindy Woodsmall

Book blurb from goodreads.com : Although Sylvia Fisher recognizes that most Old Order Amish women her age spend their hours managing their households and raising babies, she has just one focus -- tending and nurturing the herd on her family's farm. But when a dangerous connection with an old beau causes her to move far from home, she decides to concentrate on a new start and pour her energy into reviving another family's debt-ridden farm.
After months in rehab, Aaron Blank returns home to sell his Daed's failing farm and move his parents into an easier life style. Two things stand in his way: the father who stubbornly refuses to recognize that Aaron has changed, and the determined new farm hand his parents love like a daughter. Her influence on Aaron's parents could ruin his plans to escape the burdens of farming and build a new life.
Can Aaron and Sylvia find common ground? Or will their unflinching efforts toward opposite goals blur the bigger picture -- a path to forgiveness, glimpses of grace, and the promise of love.

**The Harvest of Grace is coming out on September 6, 2011!**

What I like about the cover: Well, I do love her purple dress, and the black apron is neat too. Then the pink sky, while not entirely accurate, makes a pretty compliment to her black hair and white cap. And then I like the farm scene in the background. Red barn, black cows, and the hay closer up. It's a beautiful cover!

When the Heart Cries

Author: Cindy Woodsmall
Genre: Life, romance (undertone, mostly, sort-of)
Series: Sisters of the Quilt
Number in series: 1st
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 326
Time period: Present
Main characters: Hannah, Paul
Exciting events: Well...
My overall opinion: Allow me to emphasize that this is a book for mature people. I'm gonna be straight forward here: in the first few chapters, Hannah (an Amish girl) is raped. The entire book is her struggling to overcome the after-effects of this. Which is why it's quite mature. However, it was a good book and I recommend it to older readers! Oh, and the romance. She does have a guy in her life, but that's not really the emphasis of the book, and there is no marriage/engagement at the end of the book. If that makes any sense...you rather have to read it to understand.
