Maybe a change of style

Been reading the Star today, looking at the articles, I saw one in particular that caught my eye - Starstruck. It occured to me that, a few years ago, I too was tempted by a chinese version of it - SinChew Daily's 学记. Originally, quite a few of my friends wanted to try submitting to join, but finally only 1 really sent the application and was chosen - YC, everyone else kind of cared more to focus on playing after PMR, even me. Come to think of it, it would have been a very good eye-opener for me if I had decided to join in. Too bad thou. Now, inspired by some of the people in that column, I decided that maybe I too shall voice my opinion through blogging, honestly, I more or less kept comments away when I do my posts, firstly, it's because sometimes I might get into unnecessary trouble. Other times, I'm just afraid that I might hurt other people's feelings unknowingly(eg : Qki is short). So, I gave it a nice thought, and it seems that it would be nicer if I just vent my feelings and opinions onto the blog. Come to think of it, how often does my blog gets a look at? *clicks 'stat' button, go to Audience* hmm, 17 a week.... Oh well, I shouldn't think too much.

First off, I came across something odd during accounts. The topic was Capital Expenditure Appraisal, and it involved methods called NPV and IRR. This is what was in the notes :
Comparison between NOV and IRR :
(i) NPV is easier to calculate than IRR
(ii) NPV is better method for ranking projects in order of priority
(iii) Normally NPV and IRR agree on the acceptability or non-acceptability of a project
(iv) IRR is frequently used in business in spite of its limitation

I LOL'ed at (iv). I mean, you obviously have a better method and easier, so why not use it? The only conclusion I could come up with is that human beings like to make thier own lives and others miserable.(considering fact that I might not know other advantages of using IRR). Odd eh?

For some people that might want to take a break from studies or kind of ran out of games, I suggest playing Minecraft. Its one type of game that u can just sit back relax and have no stress when ur playing, provided u set mode to peaceful ^^. Kind of addicting really, considering it only involves flash-game-level graphics, simple gameplay and odd mechanics. Imagine, u can build something hanging in mid-air in the game. Despite all that, PC Gamer UK awarded it Best Game of the Year. Statistics : Sold 1 million copies after released for 1 month BY WORD OF MOUTH, just to show what kind of popularity.

Next, I have to start bragging about my brand new spectacles! Insanely cool in the sense that it turns into shades when I'm walking in the sun! Awesome eh? Got it for RM400 at Kepong Carrefour Focus Point. Now I like to purposely walk in the sun to get the effect.

Yay, end of post. Note : I had to type this twice caused by connection error, damn connection unstability at TARC.

PC vs Laptop

Well, until recently I have realized that using a laptop to play games is just not as fun as using a desktop. I don't know, maybe I just like the fact that my monitor is 22" with wireless keyboard and mouse.Unfortunately, the damn hardisk had to get corrupted for the second time, luckily I have my trusty laptop thou it isn't just the same.

Comparatively, the laptop loses on the monitor size, 22" vs 14" to play games and watch movie. Don't tell me u like to strain ur eyes on the puny 14" screen, I'll kill u. Another reason is that the damn touchpad on the lappy nids 2 hands to use effectively. Trust me, the reactions will slow down if u try to work with 1 hand on the laptop touchpad, and I'm only talking about Plant Vs Zombie now. Speaker wise, u cant expect much from a laptop speaker compared to a dedicated speaker on a desktop.
Harddisk runs slower on a laptop - 5400rpm on lappy vs 7200 rpm on PC. RAM is the same for both - 4GB, thou the lappy can make use of more since its a windows 7 64bit, PC runs at 32bit. Lappy has Nvidia graphics card while PC has to take from RAM. U will realize the difference when u play Transformers - 2sec lag per movement on pc compared to smooth run on lappy. And since my PC is 2 years old, the AMD processor just cant win my lappy's i-5.Thou I have to admit, having a lappy is fun since u can bring it around.

Well, thats the general idea of comparison between lappy and PC, lappy mentioned is a Lenovo Z460. I think I did a great job cnsidering I completed this during Econs class and 50% of the time I was typing without looking - no mistakes too.

Bored

Yes,I'm bored, thats one of the reason i will come here and post stuff, but honestly, there is nothing much to post about, nothing worth posting much about, except the fact that i might have fallen for someone else, someone that i may not have noticed, someone that was close, someone that I felt things would not go wrong when i am with....ahh, the feeling of liking someone, how nice....too bad my valentine days are spent being single.

Today is the last day of Chinese New Year 2011, my chinese new year celebration was...in a way, new...new in the sense that its the 1st time i went over to friend's place to bai nian, but other things remain the same, wishing around and getting angpau's is always the same.

Overall, the celebration was not too bad, it is just that the 1st day started on a thursday so our week-long celebration was cut short, next year's would be much better in the sense that we would have almost the whole week for the new year celebrations, but I'm sure it would not be all the same. No more AJ11a, maybe a bunch of other friends, but who knows whether we can get along just as fine, but I have hope.

Thats the end of the new year, and also the end of my post.
