Come Here Easter Bunny!

We were at the mall and heard the Easter Bunny was at Dillards. So we went to visit him. Kurt got his picture taken with him, but Luke was pretty afraid of him. They also had a bouncy house for the kids to play in. Kurt was really taken with Mr. Bunny. Everytime he could see him, he would call (from the bouncy house) "Come here Easter Bunny!" He wanted him to come and jump with him.

Beatrix Potter

The library hosted "Meet Beatrix Potter" storytime. While I thought Kurt would enjoy the Peter Rabbit story, it was too long to hold his attention. But it wasn't just him, most of the room emptied out before the story was over. Perhaps it was the "Miss Potter" that couldn't hold their attention. She did have an accent... When we got home I tried again (we have a shortened version of P. Rabbit) and he enjoyed the story and even requests it now.
However "boring" the storytime was, she did have these cute little "boo-boo bunnies" for the kids. You're supposed to freeze water in the easter egg and then put it in the bunny when they get hurt.

KinderGarten

Kurt is very excited to go to school. He told me one day that he was so excited to go to school and play trains. Sadly, I had to burst his bubble. So I told him that when he turned 5 he could go to kindergarten. And he wouldn't get to play with trains but that he would get to (have to) learn things like letters, numbers, math, spelling, science and other things.
When Daddy got home, he was trying to tell him that he was going to go to kindergarten when he turned 5. But he got a little lost along his conversation...
K: "Daddy, I'm going to go to kinner garden soon."
D: "Where?"
K: "In the Garden."
M: whispering to Kurt "kindergarten"
K: "Kinder?"
K: "Daddy, I want a kinderegg."

John Deere

When we took Brandon to the airport, we detoured slightly to check out the John Deere Pavillion. Kurt had a ball! And Luke decided he could walk (since I wouldn't let him crawl on the ground).
This one was so big I couldn't fit the whole thing in one picture. It's hard to see Kurt, but he's up there driving his "tractor." Playing in the tires that were 3,4,5,6 times their sizeLuke having a turn. He couldn't reach the steering wheel though so he made due with some knob he could reach
Oh, how I wish my camera would take pictures in focus...
We're camera shopping - anybody love there's?
Another GIANT machine

"Girls Don't Have..."

The following is a direct quote from the little guy as he was going potty one day. We have the wierdest conversations while he's going potty. "Girls don't have a nozzle. Only boys have a nozzle. You don't have a nozzle. Where'd your nozzle go? Did you lose it? You gotta get one back. Maybe just a little one so you can go potty. Then you need a bandaid."
He is getting so curious about everything in the world. Daddy was trying to teach him that only boys have the nozzle, but he was very confused. He asked him how Mommy went potty if she doesn't have a nozzle. How far to divulge down this road at such an age...?

ps- he doesn't really say nozzle...

A moon, a moon, a big round moon...

The moon was so bright last night! It lit up our entire bedroom. I just laid there and stared at it for 15 minutes. I watched it move across my window. It was just so beautiful!

Obviously, I did not take this picture. Shocking as it may be, I did not get out of bed and get my camera - I just enjoyed the sight.

Nokilo

We're definitely Disney fans, so we have to get the shows as they're released and remastered from the "Magic Vault." Kurt was very excited to get his new movie, "No-ki-lo" for Friday night movie night. It's fun to see the movies again after all this time. Pinocchio is full of good lessons - making good choices and seeing the consequences when we make bad choices.
We all enjoyed our movie night this week.

Book Worm

Still LOVES reading. He's beginning to read Dick and Jane with Daddy and can "read" me many stories that we (both) know because we've read them so many times... Often times when it's quiet and my first thought is "Oh, no, what is Kurt into now...", I usually find him reading quietly to himself.

OCD - Obsessive Cup Disorder

Initially, I was just going to take a picture of him and his cup to tell this story. But as I had the camera over there, he acted his obsession out for me.
He has to have his cup in the cup indentation. He'll take a drink and place it right back. If I move it (for whatever reason - necessity or plain ol' meanness), he won't allow anything else to happen until it gets back to it's place.

Fore!

Some of Kurt's friends came over the other day and they decided they wanted to play Twister. Still a little young for real play, but we tried it anyway.

Then they played Gator Golf together - working on their short game...

Happy Birthday Mommy

My day started with the boys making me breakfast - delicious blueberry streusel muffins - and my presents.
Then, we met daddy for some ice cream (way better than cake and you get it for free on your birthday) after lunch. Then, Daddy got a babysitter and he and I went out for some dinner.
Then, the celebration continued the week after at Red Robin for my free burger. Yea free!

If you plant it...

Daddy started his seeds so they'll be ready for planting once it finally decides to stop being cold. He took Kurt to the greenhouse with him and he came back so enthralled and excited! They've now been to the greenhouse 3 times and Kurt loves to tell me all about it. He comes downstairs every morning, ready to turn their (the plants) light on and see "how they doin' today."

Day One - "growing" some dirt pods in water

Poking holes for the seeds
Planting his first seed

Working on some more seeds

Look Mom

We have some mardi gra beads that we got a some parade. They broke, so now they are just a sting (vs. a necklace). But both boys love to play with them. Kurt was playing and "made" this with his beads. He said, "Look mom, I made a boat!" The creativity is beginning...

You are...

Kurt and I were snuggling and talking last night as we were winding down and getting ready for sleeping. I started telling him all the things he is:
You are funny
You are smart
You are silly
You are happy
You are a big brother
You are...
I paused here, to think of another thing to tell him. But he filled in the blank for me.
You are... "HANDSOME!"

I hope his confidence in himself and his good looks stays with him as he gets older, but doesn't turn into conceit.

Bull

There is a bull head on a building that we drive past on our way to church. Kurt looks for it every week. And we have to moo for him when we pass it. He thinks a cow moo is hiliarious. We went a slightly different route one day and he couldn't find the bull head (we hadn't gotten to it yet). He was very upset and said, "The bull blew away!!!"

Roller Skating

One of the rec centers had roller skating so we thought we'd go try it out. Kurt was pretty wobbly and wary of the whole thing. But by the end of 5 minutes he thought was done but had fun.
Two Boys
Unfortunately this is the only picture that turned out...the camera is getting old. Brandon even went solo a few laps and I couldn't get anything to focus. I guess he's too fast to be caught on camera :)
Lap #1 - Pretty sure he doesn't like this...
Lap#2 - Got the hang of it and thought it was fun

Sunshine AND Warmth

And now we have 70 degree weather. For today anyway. But we won't complain - we'll take it when we can get it. So we took of the sun and went to the park.
Kurt loved it because there were so many kids to play with. He says, "Hey kids! Here I come! Wait for me..." As he runs up to the play ground.
Luke wanted to do so many things. But I wasn't able to let him. There were so many kids at the park, I was having a hard time keeping Kurt in my sights. And since the small child activities are on the other side of the structure, I couldn't let them both play at the same time.
Perhaps I'm too uptight and protective, but I do not know how parents are able to relax and chat when there are so many other people around. The memories of my recent disappearing child act experience could also be adding some fuel to that fire, but let's be honest, I was like this before he became Houdini.

Climbers. How did I get 2 of them? They will climb anything and everything without fear
"I know I can get to the top too..."
Sliders. I'm sure they think real slides are better than our stairs
Head first - practicing for the major leagues already...The downhill just gives him added speed.
Brothers - Is there anything better?

The things I find in our many boxes of stuff

I don't even remember what I was looking for in the first place. But I found this straw in a box of things from college. I don't know why I had them, or why I saved them. Perhaps I thought - one day, your son will think these are the funniest things he's ever seen. Or maybe they held some "super important" sentimental value. :) Okay, probably neither of the two. Nonetheless, we had fun with them tonight.

Sunshine

Today dawned beautiful! The temps weren't super warm, but it felt really nice and we had to take advantage and get outside. We pulled out the car and bike and had some outside fun. It's a difficult age for Luke because he wants to run and play and do all the fun things, but he's not quite that capable yet. So I hope he can fly solo soon, for his sake.
Kurt still loves the driving his car

Kurt is still having a hard time accepting some things about having a brother. Now that Luke's old enough to play, Kurt still thinks that everything is his. It took a lot of coaxing to allow Luke to sit with him.

And then even more to let him have his own turn...
But Luke was sure happy he did. He LOVED driving himself around. He can scoot himself all over the patio as long as he drives in reverse. :)

He's still working on the bike so it's not so much of an incentive to trade for the big boy bike. But he poses a good smile for me when I ask.
