Book of Mormon Stories

Kurt has been learning this song now that he's in Primary and he frequently sings it around the house, library, grocery store, etc. Tonight his rendition went like this:

"Book of Mormon stories that my teacher tells to me
All about the Lamanites in my teachers story
Long ago the fathers came from far far across the sea
Given this land, if they live, JUST LIKE ME"

Valentines Day / Chinese New Year

This year there were 2 holidays on the same day - so we split the day in half. Breakfast was for Valentines Day. Pink heart pancakes, pink cactus syrup and pink milk (not strawberry, just pink).
We got the boys little coloring books for church and a box of sweethearts. Luke was very excited about the candy.
Okay, and Kurt was too :)
Daddy got Mommy some beautiful flowers. I think Kurt helped him pick them out.
Then after church we began our Chinese New Year celebration! Kurt and I made some paper lanterns.
Then we made some miniature chinese dragons
Since this was a Sunday we couldn't go out to eat at a buffet, so we made our own. We sampled a variety of the frozen options found at your local grocery store.
Then we topped the night off with some fortune cookies

Valentine Heart Attack

We went down to Daddy's office on a secret mission to decorate for him. They both had a lot of fun. Kurt especially liked it when we almost got caught at the beginning and we had to run away :)
We tried to hide after we were done to yell "Suprise" but he heard Luke coughing and caught us
But he sure liked our surprise. Look at that smile!
We also decorated cookies for him at a friends house this week. I learned some pretty fun cookie techniques.

Bass Pro Shop

Yes, it seems an odd place to visit for a day trip- an outdoor/hunting store. But it really is a fun place. Analisa came to visit her sister Aup who lives in Des Moines. She called and asked what was between us where we could maybe meet. Hmm, Iowa, February, snow, cold...that's what in between us. :) I'd always wanted to check this place out so off we went!
Their "aquarium" was more of a giant fish tank, but the kids still liked it.
I don't know what inspired this pose
There was one big ugly fish Kurt really liked
They had animals all over the place so it kind of had a natural history museum too
Luke is concerned because of the cougar behind him :)
There was also a Nascar simulation. We're not sure what happened, but this one just turned on so we got Kurt to hop up and drive it. He couldn't reach the pedals though so that was my job. Luke was cheering him on and trying to help steer I think.

Future hunter? I don't know who'd teach him - definitely not our thing. Besides the trigger being super sensitive it was fun to do this one. If you hit the "target" something would happen- the door would open, the barrel would spill water, the animals would make noises.
I think Aup was the best hunter with Ann coming a close second.
And I don't have pictures of the bowling alley, but that was a really fun part too. The boys loved playing on the atv? section- 4 wheelers, dune buggies, etc. They "drove" them all over the place. They also had a yummy fudge shop. We got some for Daddy since he couldn't join us for all the fun.

Name Calling?

When Kurt is in trouble I throw an "is" onto his name - Kurtis. I think I sound more serious if his name has 2 syllables :)
Lately he's been telling me that his name is not Kurtis.
Tonight he said, "My name is not Kurtis. It's Kurt. Your name is Momis."
