Remember -- it's right and Constitutional that American citizens should be locked into their homes like prisoners (while actually prisoners are set loose to roam the streets and murder), but foreign immigrants must not be inconvenienced one little bit while Americans are on lockdown.

See, American citizens must shelter in place, but foreigners can roam the place as they will. They have carte blanche.

This makes sense to the leftwing media panic vampires and their neoliberal NeverTrump Renfields.

In a late-breaking story tonight, Victoria Taft reports in PJ Media,

President Trump has announced that he's "temporarily suspending immigration into the United States."

In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!

The president made the announcement to stop bringing in new people because the U.S. and world economies are cratering. And a historic number of people are now without jobs because of the virus. Trump is going all-in with the American people on this announcement.

Well, this is one way that President Trump will get Nancy Pelosi back to Washington, D.C.

We'll bet that somehow the Left will label this as racist.

Let them try.

Complicated

"We don’t want immigrants who are going to create separate communities that reject the basic principles of our country."

Which immigrants whould we accept? In FrontPage Magazine, Michael Ledeen writes,

...I don’t believe our government, or any other, can reliably predict which people to accept, and which to keep out, just on the basis of their current abilities to go to work for Google or Facebook. Their children and grandchildren may turn out to be important contributors. We just don’t know how they are going to work out. My grandparents sure didn’t look like desirables at the start of the twentieth century, nor did millions of others who wanted in.

If we don’t have the wisdom to predict who will make good citizens, we do know at least some who won’t. We don’t want those who are indoctrinated in the various cults of radical Islam. Kids who have been “educated” in the madrassas of the Wahhabi fanatics, those who believe that all wisdom was handed down in the Koran and Mohammed’s hadiths, and who believe that sharia “law” is more important than constitutional law, are not likely to assimilate into American society. We don’t want immigrants who are going to create separate communities that reject the basic principles of our country.

Hence President Trump has long been on the right track in trying to block the inpouring of radical Muslims. Just as it was right to block committed Communists because we knew they would subvert American democracy, it is right to block those who will subvert democracy for other reasons. I don’t think that we should welcome Antifa leaders and activists. And I think the overwhelming majority of Americans agree. Don’t you?

Finally, if I’m right, we simply must insist on legal immigration, and stop the illegals. Otherwise we’re going to replicate the failed European open borders policies of recent years. In case you hadn’t noticed, those miserable policies have been roundly rejected in country after country, from Great Britain to Hungary. We don’t want to go through a similar convulsion.

The Governor of Virginia puts forth a psychopathic idea about the government staying out of the way if a woman wants to kill her child! Andrew plays a radio appearance by the governor which was not covered by the three major networks or CNN and MSNBC. Fox did cover it on the Bret Baier show.

The only way you can maintain the fallacy that transwomen are women is if you silence people who disagree. The power of silence is the power of lies!

Howard Schultz doesn't believe he should be criticized for being successful. He grew up in the projects in Brooklyn, and now wants to run as an independent in 2020 for president of the United States! the Left wants to shut him up!

Andrew's guest is Alex Nowrasteh, an immigration policy analyst. Immigration is down from previous decades, but it is overwhelmingly family units turning themselves into Border Patrol asking for asylum, which is a "mostly fictional facade." Immigrants are less likely to be involved in crime than native-born Americans, even though they committed a crime by illegally entering America.

It is very difficult to get into America legally, especially if you are a low-skilled worker who doesn't have any family living in America. Alex is in favor of legalizing the DACA kids. He is also in favor of making a "serious show of border security" (wall?). ThThe most important thing he advocates for is to expand the number of lower-skilled guest worker visas, which is what President Eisenhower did and it almost eliminated illegal immigration!

A Nation of Immigrants

Trump warns Honduras to stop caravan of migrants or lose US aid.

S.A. Miller reports in the Washington Times,

President Trump on Tuesday said he warned Honduras to stop a caravan of more than 1,000 migrants headed for the United States or else lose American aid.

“The United States has strongly informed the President of Honduras that if the large Caravan of people heading to the U.S. is not stopped and brought back to Honduras, no more money or aid will be given to Honduras, effective immediately!” Mr. Trumptweeted.

The caravan of at least 1,600 crossed Monday into Guatemala, chanting “yes we can” as they defied the Guatemalan governments orders to stop.

Mr. Trump made a similar threat in April when a caravan of more than 1,200 migrants left Honduras for the U.S. That time, the caravan dwindled as it approached the U.S. border, thanks in part to Mexico granting refugee status to some participants.

On Monday, about 250 police at the Guatemalan border stopped the caravan for about three hours Monday before relenting and allowing the migrants to pass.

The caravan began as about 160 people who first gathered early Friday to depart from San Pedro Sula, one of Honduras‘ most dangerous places, figuring that traveling as a group would make them less vulnerable to robbery, assault and other dangers common on the migratory path through Central America and Mexico.

Local media coverage prompted hundreds more to join, and Dunia Montoya, a volunteer assisting the migrants, estimated Sunday that the group had grown to at least 1,600 people. Police gave their own estimate of around 2,000 on Monday.

A nation of immigrants

The United States adds one million new immigrants per year and due to other provisions that figure rises to 3.4 million over time as relatives come in through chain migration. In addition, an estimated 100,000 refugees and asylum-seekers are let in each year.

Fifty years of litigation and lobbying are now reaping rewards unforeseen even by the open-borders establishment.

At City Journal Heather MacDonald explains some key points about the immigration debate.

...If an adult crosses the border alone and utters the magic asylum words—a fear of persecution in his home country—he could in theory be held in detention until his asylum claim was adjudicated. If, however, he brings a child with him and makes an asylum pitch, he puts the government to a choice: detain the adult separately until his claim is heard and release the child after 20 days, or release both adult and child together.

The Obama administration usually chose the second option. Word coursed through Mexico and Central America that taking a child across the border was a get-out-of-jail-free card that would exempt its holder from both criminal prosecution and detention. This child-release lever, coupled with Obama’s announcement in 2012 that he would grant amnesty to the so-called Dreamers, meant that Obama soon had his own family border crisis on his hands. In 2014, 70,000 adult-child units and 70,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended illegally crossing into the U.S.

...In 2015, a federal trial judge, Holly Gee, herself appointed by Obama and the very definition of an activist jurist, vastly expanded the scope of the original decree and ordered the administration to release the detained minors. The Department of Homeland Security warned that ending family detention would trigger another border surge. Judge Gee dismissed this concern as “fear-mongering,” according to the Associated Press.

It is to Judge Gee that the Trump administration will now make its appeal to lift the 20-day confinement cap. The chance that she will agree to do so is zero. Unless that ruling is overturned on appeal or Congress changes the relevant law, the administration will have two choices: try to get asylum hearings down to 20 days, or abandon its universal prosecution policy and resume catch-and-release at the border for adults with children.

Streamlining the asylum process would require both narrowing the standard for granting asylum, pursuant to its original intent (something that Sessions has already begun to do), and increasing judicial resources. (Bizarrely, Trump has denounced such an increase in judicial manpower.) Even then, meeting a 20-day limit on asylum detentions will be a stretch. Resuming catch-and-release, of course, would violate one of Trump’s key electoral promises. Fifty years of litigation and lobbying are now reaping rewards unforeseen even by the open-borders establishment. Trump has ducked one showdown, but an even bigger one lies ahead.

...Strangely, after Trump issued his recent executive order, a few media voices tentatively raised the problem of the unintended consequences of purportedly humane rules. CNN anchor John Berman asked Schiff on Thursday morning if exempting illegal aliens with children from detention “incentivized” such illegal crossings. Schiff ducked the query: “Well, it’s not a simple question as whether somebody has a child or not.” But the problem of perverse incentives will not go away. America’s loss of sovereignty over its borders and the incursion of millions of barely literate campesinos and their progeny is the result of years of victim-favoring policies that ignore personal agency and court the consequences.

"We know how more immigration benefits big business and the Democratic Party. No one has yet convincingly explained how it benefits the American people as a whole."

Michael Anton is a lecturer and research fellow at Hillsdale College and a former national security official in the Trump administration. In The Washington Post he writes,

...Economists in league with big business got good at torturing data to “show” that immigration benefits the economy. But as demonstrated by Harvard University’s George Borjas, one of the nation’s leading economists on the topic, immigration is a net economic benefit to immigrants and to their employers. To workers already here, not so much.

No matter, because the Democrats are no longer the party of labor. Back when they were — in the prelapsarian Clinton years — they sought tight labor markets precisely for their efficacy in boosting lower-end wages. But today’s Democrats are the party of high class, high tech and high capital.

This glamour coalition is not big enough by itself to win elections. So the left has hoodwinked some (but, as the 2016 election shows, by no means all) low-income voters into thinking that their interests align with those of Wall Street and Silicon Valley oligarchs.

It’s clear what the oligarchs get out of an endless influx of cheap labor. What the Democratic Party gets is also clear: more voters, and with them the tantalizing possibility of turning the country as irreversibly blue as Democratic policies have already done to New York, California and many other states.

...We know how more immigration benefits big business and the Democratic Party. No one has yet convincingly explained how it benefits the American people as a whole. That’s the foremost consideration that should drive our immigration debate, and that’s what should determine our immigration policy.

Mark Steyn reminds us that today is the 78th anniversary of Winston Churchill's

speech to the House of Commons on June 18th, 1940, a few weeks into his premiership and at a very dark hour,

And he concluded with a famous rhetorical flourish:

Fixing immigration, DACA, and border security?

Sundance at The Conservative Treehouse tells us that Republican Senators plan to introduce legislation tomorrow on border security, immigration, and DACA.

The Secure and Succeed Act includes the four reform pillars agreed to during a bipartisan meeting with congressional leaders and President Trump in January: legal status for DACA recipients; increased border security; an end chain to migration; and an end to the diversity visa lottery.

Do you think immigration is a backburner issue?

Mark Steyn notes that Sweden boasts the world's first self-proclaimed "feminist government." But, guess what? It is not safe for a woman to leave her house! Mark is inclined to agree with Ann Coulter, who writes,

Everyone who screwed the pooch on this one better realize fast: All that matters is immigration...

Republicans who treat immigration as a backburner issue should be required to run on the issues they consider more important -- in California. See how your arguments fare in a state that's already been transformed by immigration. That's your new country.

How stupid do you have to be to carry on about taxes, defense spending, ISIS, abortion or the Ten Commandments while intentionally losing on the one issue that will determine the outcome of all these other issues? Too stupid to be of any real help

Has the Statue of Liberty become the Statue Of Immigration?

Mark Steyn wants to talk some more about the Acosta/Miller debate on immigration. Mark says the Statue of Liberty is about exporting the idea of liberty, not about importing masses of people. It is telling the world about our central idea: liberty!

Another criminal protected by immigration rules

Jazz Shaw reports at Hot Air,

If you’ve been following the non-political news lately you probably saw the tragic story out of Boston this past week. A double murder which took place there had all the elements of the beginning of a best-selling murder mystery novel. Richard Field, 49 and Lina Bolanos, 38 were anesthesiologists working in the Boston area and were engaged to be married. The successful couple was found brutally murdered in their apartment, raising all manner of questions. Then a backpack full of jewelry was located on the scene. The Boston PD put in the hard work required and a suspect, thirty-year-old Bampumim Teixeira, was rapidly identified and apprehended after a brief gunfight.

But now things have taken an even stranger twist. Teixeira was in the country legally with a green card (and had been since 2010) but had been in jail until recently for multiple counts of bank robbery. How was this guy not deported, possibly preventing this tragic double murder? Turns out it all came down to technicalities in our immigration system and clever defense attorneys. (CBS Boston)

Trump, the master persuader

Scott Adams writes,

...Trump persuaded us that immigration was a big problem. And in so doing, he pushed the issue of income inequality off the page. Do you remember the last time you saw CNN obsessing about income inequality? I thought it was the public’s biggest issue two years ago. Did it just sort of stop being one?

...President Trump is in our heads. He told us what our priorities were and we accepted it, even if we hated his plans. Some people think is it a priority to get tougher on immigration, some think the opposite. But we all agree the issue is important.

If you had asked me in 2014 to list my country’s top 10 problems, immigration would not have been on the list. Now it’s usually at the top of the news. Trump did that. And by doing it he showed us a level of leadership that I have never seen in my lifetime. Even if you don’t like where he is leading us.

But here’s the interesting part. If you want to address income inequality, what is one of the best ways to do it? Answer: Limit immigration. That means higher wages for American citizens and lower profits for the top 1% who want cheap labor.

I saw a factoid yesterday that illegal immigration from Mexico is way down lately, presumably in anticipation of the Trump administration being tough. That’s an indicator of rising wages to come. I suppose the top 1% can pass along the higher costs to some extent. But the jobless guy who gets a job won’t be too unhappy that his food is 10% more expensive. He still comes out ahead. And if the employer gets a Trump tax cut, she doesn’t need to pass along as much of the higher wage expense to consumers.

Speaking of jobs, if Trump’s job-creation hype evolves from anecdotal to real, that’s a great way to reduce income inequality too. As I have often said, economies run on psychology, and Trump is a master of psychology. He proved that already by injecting enough optimism into the system that it goosed the stock market, and business confidence in general. That should translate into more investments and a better economy.

...As I said above, the main reason that income inequality is no longer a major headline is that Trump made us believe that other issues are more important. But the other reason that you no longer see liberals make the trend toward greater income inequality their flagship issue is funnier.

Trump is solving it.

The left thrives on its moral narcissism. It parades around its false spectacles of victimhood. But its policies leave behind real victims. When the left fought against President Trump’s common sense immigration security reforms, a little girl in a village in New York became one of its many victims.
