I don't blame Trump for his criticisms of John McCain!

Andrew is critical of Donald Trump for Trump's criticisms of John McCain. I don't agree. We finally have a Republican president who fights back, even if his enemy is dead! McCain did Trump dirty. McCain got the ball rolling accusing Trump of colluding with Russia. McCain kept Obamacare alive. Andrew later gives Trump credit for so many important accomplishments. He wants Trump to be careful not to alienate voters who might otherwise appreciate what Trump is doing with the economy and foreign policy, for example.

Matt Fradd, the author of The Porn Myth, is Andrew's guest on this podcast. Do you experience sexual desire? If not, you may be dead!

Andrew concludes the podcast by referring to Trump's efforts to force educational institutions to uphold First Amendment freedoms. We are in a battle between the Left and free speech, the Left and liberalism. Our extremists are in the comments section at Breitbart. Their extremists are in the government!

What is the central pathology of porn?

Chateau Heartiste believes that the central pathology of porn is that
it hijacks the visually oriented arousal mechanism in men to provide a steady yet low dose drip of dopamine, which is just enough to discourage investment in real world courtship.

In short, porn kills real life sex dead.

This is why I predict the sexbot revolution will bring utter destruction to civilization, replacing beta male investment with beta male dopamine imprisonment and massive alpha male harems (with the concomitant male-on-male violence that characterizes rampant polygyny).

Porn

Currently on the Laura Ingraham Show Laura is discussing one of the biggest problems in marriages and families today: porn. How old were you when you first saw porn? Did you know that the average age a young male first views porn today is ELEVEN? Can you imagine how that is going to affect future marriages and families?

When I was eleven, my parents had just purchased their first t.v. Howdy Doody was the closest thing to porn I watched. Phones? They were for talking to people who were not living in our house.

How is porn influencing young people today? Where are today's men? Where are today's women?

Boys in 2015

Absent fathers and feminized schools are driving boys into a disconnected online world of porn and video games, argues the academic psychologist Philip Zimbardo in an interview with Stuart Jeffries in The Guardian.
In the UK today, a young person is more likely to have a television in their bedroom than a father in their house by the end of their childhood. And even if fathers are around, their sons don’t engage with them much: boys spend 44 hours in front of a TV, smartphone or computer screen for every half hour in conversation with their fathers.

Why does any of this really matter, I ask the American psychologist Philip Zimbardo, who cites these figures in his new book Man (Dis)connected: How Technology Has Sabotaged What It Means To Be Male. Why do boys need fathers?

Zimbardo, professor emeritus at Stanford University, replies that everybody needs a mother and father because they give different kinds of love. “Mothers give love unconditionally – because you came out of her body, a mother loves you. You bring home your report card and it’s all Cs? Mom will say, ‘It’s OK. Momma loves you anyway. Try harder.’

“Fathers give love provisionally. If you want your allowance, if you don’t want me to turn off your computer, then you’ve got to perform. That’s always been the deal with fathers and sons – you don’t get a pass just because you exist, just because you got my name on your birth certificate. You’re going to do it because you want your father to love you and admire you. That central source of extrinsic motivation is gone now for almost one out of every two kids.”

...Why are boys more likely to retreat into cyberspace than girls? “Boys have never been self-reflective. Boys are focused on doing and acting, girls are more focused on being and feeling. The new video-game world encourages doing and acting and not really thinking. Video games are not so attractive to girls.”

...Zimbardo reckons that online pornography is much more appealing to boys than girls, in part because it eliminates narratives. “With the old pornography there were typically stories. There was a movie, like Deep Throat, and in the course of some interesting theme people were having sex. Now it’s only about physical sexual contact.”

“It’s always been difficult for boys to talk to girls because you are never sure what they want or what their agenda is. And now without trying or practice it becomes more and more difficult. So it’s a reason to retreat into this virtual world.”

...“The one thing every boy or man fears from girls is being rejected. I don’t want you to kiss me, I don’t want sex, I don’t want you, I don’t want to date. That fear of rejection by women is eliminated in this virtual pornography world.”

“Pornography is being moved to the next level. You’ll put on 3D glasses and the woman or man will proposition you. And in some cases it’ll be interactive – you could say ‘Take off your clothes’. The idea of the film-maker of 3D virtual sex is to make it seem ever more real, just as video games are. Soon they’ll be able to put the face of the viewer on to the leading character. So you’ll be the man the woman wants to have sex with.”

...But there is a grisly paradox, Zimbardo argues. Boys’ retreat into a putatively safe virtual world involves, in fact, a new kind of rejection. “In online porn, the men are incredibly well-endowed – they are paid precisely because they have those attributes. In addition, some of the men take penile injections so they can perform for half an hour non-stop. When you’re a 10 or 15-year-old kid, you say to yourself, ‘I will never, ever look like that or perform like that’.”

As if to clinch the point, Zimbardo tells me about how he recently took part in a documentary about boys called The Mask You Live In. Directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, it’s a sequel to her film Miss Representation, about the false depictions of women in the media. In one scene, a US school teacher gives a group of boys each a circular piece of paper. On one side they write what their image is, and on the other what they are feeling. Then they scrunch up the paper and throw it to another kid. “What they said was all the same,” recalls Zimbardo. “On the outside it said: ‘Tough. Fearless. Kick your ass.’ And on the inside: ‘Lonely. Sad. Got no friends.’ Each boy was stunned that the others felt the same way. I think it’s what it’s like for boys now – they’re in a terrible state and I can’t imagine that it’s going to get better any time soon.”

A beacon for those who don't have the strength to talk about it

This wonderful British woman tells us about her porn addiction, how porn densensitizes those who become addicted to it, how it fulfills the pleasures that the addict wants to feel, and how it constantly sucks the addict into watching, in order to find the pleasures they want.

Were you abused as a child? Did you eventually convince yourself that it was normal, and keep it a secret? Did you ever find someone who cared enough to listen? Are you a person who will listen?

Any of these apply to you?

Matt Walsh decided to write a blog post on how guys can ruin their marriages. He lists four things guys can do that will ruin their marriages.

The first is porn.
It’s definitely not an easy time to be a virtuous man. Everywhere we look there are words and images trying to grab our attention and send us into a spiral of lust and sexual greed. You really can’t even scroll down a Facebook newsfeed anymore without seeing blatant or borderline pornography. The entire world, it seems, is out to exploit our weaknesses.

The second is laziness.
Families take effort, so when I refuse to exert it, I am to some extent refusing to be a part of the family. It makes sense that our wives get upset about that attitude. It make sense that something as ‘small’ as not ‘helping around the house’ could ultimately destroy a marriage. It destroys it because we aren’t participating in it. We have no right to be lazy husbands. Family is work, marriage is work, life is work, and it’s our job to do it all without complaint.

The third is passiveness.
What I’ve come to understand is that leadership is a responsibility, not an entitlement. It’s something we are called to do with humility and love, as servants, not as emperors. I’ve learned why men are tempted to pass the buck on to their wives or even their children, and I’ve learned why that can be such a devastating choice. But I’ve also learned the joy of embracing that leadership role, however imperfectly, and accepting the vocation that all husbands and fathers are called to.

The fourth is immaturity.
A child’s life might be dominated by a desire to play with their toys and other frivolous pursuits, but as men we need to develop interests in deeper things. Our tastes should mature right along with the rest of us. Is it fair to our wives when we put her in a situation where her husband is just as obsessed with toys as her children are? Is she supposed to feel a great desire for a man who ignores her in favor of TV and Xbox?

Constant novelty at a click can cause addiction!

Why are there so few studies about the effects of porn? Gary Wilson says in this TED talk that it is because researchers can't find control groups (people who have not watched porn!) Wilson also asserts,
Internet porn is not sex. Internet porn is as different from real sex as today's video games are from checkers.

All addictions have three components: Excess chronic consumption (dopamine surges), Binge mechanism (DeltaFosB accumulates), and Cravings for more.

If the behavior is not stopped, structural brain changes occur. The brain changes result in a numbed pleasure response, hyper-reactivity to porn, and willpower erosion.

DeltaFosB is the molecular switch that kicks in.

Finally, though, there is a control group: heavy users of porn are giving it up by the thousands! Why are they giving it up? It is killing men's sexual performance!
