Trick-or-Treat!

Happy Halloween! We started the day with pumpkin "jack-o-lantern" pancakes, "bloody eyeball" fried eggs (don't worry-- just ketchup), and maple bacon. Then, we went shopping and out to a nice lunch at Texas Roadhouse. Hallie wore her kitty-cat ears for this excursion and frequently "meowed" to passersby.

Tonight we had a fun time with our little Cinderella. This was the first year that she officially "trick-or-treated." To start the night, Chris took Hallie to the ward "trunk-or-treat" while I finished up at work. Then, when they returned we all set out for a little "treating" on our street. It was so fun to watch Hallie. She was as precocious as can be. Throughout the day we tried to explain the process of how it worked. She caught on very quickly once the candy was presented. She was eager with her "trick or treat!" and "thanks!" She even threw in her own lingo like "Hi, trick or treat!" (as if it was someone's name) and to the households with canines "Hi doggy! I'm good, doggy." We totally enjoyed ourselves as parents . . . and now we get to enjoy her candy!

In other exciting news, since we are in a house on a suburban street (and not in an apartment complex) we received more "trick-or-treaters" this year than in all seven years combined.

Happy Halloween to our sweet friends and family. You are all treats to us.

NOTE: As for our video, please consider it an audio clip and ignore the actual footage. It obviously wasn't good lighting to begin with and then it published sideways.

Pumpkin Patch

If you know us, you know we are always up for a trip to the pumpkin patch. Our friends visited a great one several weeks ago and we knew we wanted to follow suit. So, as our weather was PERFECT last Saturday we headed to this pumpkin patch. It was phenomenal. We paid a cheap admission fee for Hallie that included a hay bale maze, playing on the tractors, a petting zoo, a hay bale ride, hay slides, and your choice of a pumpkin. Hallie was blissful. She loved running on the hill alone. But, the excitement of petting the animals and the exhiliration of running around with other kids in the maze put her over the top. The pinacle of the afternoon was going down the slides. Hallie is known to be apprehensive at times but she was thrilled to go down the slide with Mom and Dad. She has asked us daily since Saturday to show her the video of her on the slide. What a perfect pumpkin afternoon.

Halloween Food

These are some of the things I do every year for Halloween. Some would call it festive, some would call it eccentric . . . you decide!

Fall Flashback!!

Since, I was already going through old picture folders, I found so many FUN pictures of friends at this time of year. So, I want to showcase a little feature entitled "Fall Flashback." See if you can spot yourself in these "oldies" but "goodies."
