Hello Fur-friends!

Senor Gato has asked me about The Stare Glare Game - if I like to participate, and if I win.

Well, to be honest, I am not a big starer-glarer.
I can try sometimes, but I always get distracted by something else in the room then have to go bounce off and investigate. Figuring out mysterious noises and movements is much more interesting to me than the Stare Glare Game.

Auntie Spooker, on the other hand, will stare you down with her laser-beam death glare and wait for you to be the first one to blink. She's very good at this game, and is the clear winner in our house.


Chloe likes to play, but she's so goofy, she rolls her head and blinks, so she's not very good at holding the stare.

Not The Mama is good at this game, and he can hold-out longer than Chloe every time --- but even he is no match for Auntie Spooker's glaring stare. She can sit for hours on end, it seems, and stare at you, un-blinking, until you give up with watery eyes.

What kind of a Stare Glare gamer are you? A hold the stare winner, or a blinker?

Dear Daphne,
I'm so glad to hear we can ask you questions. We have to ask you something:
What exactly does our human DO when she drives over there to visit? It seems like she's gone for SOOO long, and when she comes back, she doesn't smell like US anymore at ALL!
She tells us she's going to visit you again in a couple weeks, and she keeps muttering something about the Angel Of Death.
Is that Not-The-Mama's friend?

Thanks for your question! Well, I've only seen your human-bean a few times, and most of those glimpses were from the top of the stairs looking down at her. Chloe and I aren't much for strangers, and your bean certainly counts as one of the strange ones...
She seems to enjoy her visits, though, at Not The Mama's home, 'cuz she & Lee have been friends for years and years and years, they tell me. Last time, after your bean left, I hear Not The Mama say, "Just ONCE I'd like to beat her at Scrabble!"

As for Death visiting, I was there and witnessed when he said he was looking forward to Janna's visit. Not The Mama was too busy looking at Entertainment Weekly and scratching my ears to seem too worried about Death's next visit, though...
Chloe and I will try to sniff your bean out good next time she visits, and let you know more details of what she is up to when she comes to see us. Thanks for your questions!

Hello Fur-Friends!

Today's Ask Daphne Question comes from Jean Paul, who is a friend of Not The Mama's who lives in South America! His cat, Senor Gato, wants to know where's my favorite place to take a siesta?
I guess the answer would be on Not The Mama's bed, because the fluffy blankie that's there is soooo warm and cuddly. Chloe and I like to curl up around each other and nap there.

Other favorite solo siesta sites: the ottoman in the TV room -- I love to stretch out there and hang my head over the edge of the cushion and drift off into sleep; then there's the chair in the computer room -- good for a short siesta while Not The Mama is holding Chloe when he's on the home computer.
Of course, when Not The Mama is watching a movie in the TV room, then Chloe and I like to climb aboard and have a siesta right there with him -- Chloe likes his lap, and I like to push his knees apart and make a hammock of the lap blanket and stretch out between his legs --- kitty hammocks are the best!
So, hope this answers your question!

And a note to Senor Gato -- I'm sorry to have hurt your feelings, but I just wanted to be purr-fectly clear that my ♥ belongs to Merlin. But my sister, Chloe, has a thing for swarthy South American Senors -- maybe you should send her a purr-sonal note, asking for her affections.

Hello fur-friends!
Yesterday, Christine asked:
"Daphne, what's the funniest thing you or Chloe have done, thus far?"

Well, funny you should ask...
Last night, when Not The Mama and Lee were watching TV, I stood up on my back legs and pawed at the hanging plate of an old-fashioned brass scale (see the photo below).
Lee said, "Daphne, what'd you want to be weighed? Your little pea-brain?"
I tapped at the scale a few more times, and he said, "We don't have a counterweight for something that tiny, silly!"
Well, did you ever!

The best part about living with Not The Mama is that me & Chloe make him laugh every day. It's the most common of our everyday antics, like jumping out at toes from under the bed, that make him laugh. He gives good ear-scratches in return for making him laugh.
