Rosey is 2!!!

Our little Rosey girl is 2!  What?!?  It seriously makes me so sad how fast the time is flying by.  Wasn't she just born?  Wasn't she just one?  If you don't know Rose personally, that is such a bummer!  She is a crack up.  I guess she's not much of a performer in front of other people but around just she is pure comedy.  Things she loves right now: Elmo, Curious George, coloring, my makeup, SWINGING (she's addicted), being outside, honey toast (her words), watching videos of herself, pushing strollers, and licorice to name a few...all typical kid stuff but its nice to write it down.

My mom's birthday was on August 5th so after that I started explaining to Rose that her birthday was coming up.  She asked me every day for the past 2 weeks if it was her birthday and if she could have some cake.  Seriously, hilarious.  When it started getting closer she would say "Birthday.  2 days!"
"Morrow.  Birthday."  We decided a while ago that we would get her a kitchen set.  Mike wanted to build it but then give it to her later in the night.  I could not wait to see her reaction so we had it all set up for her when she game down in the morning!  I also hung up some balloons and streamers for her which she wanted nothing to do with ha!  Maybe next year.

I love this picture of Rose.  She is looking so grown up!  She's losing some her baby fat (which is sad because it was awesome) and really starting the thin out.  A friend of mine commented yesterday that she was even looking taller!  I never thought I would hear someone say that ha.
Her "house" was a big hit.
Look closely and you can see her eye.

Rose has loved our little lake days this summer so I decided to invite some her friends to the lake on her birthday.  The forecast called for rain until 2 days before but then prayers we answered and it turned out to be a beautiful day.  The lifeguard stand was the hot spot of the party.  Rose chillin' with her friends Brighton, Jack, and Emery.

The gang.

Sis enjoyed the party too.
After everyone left, Rose and Em played in the sand for a bit.  They are so cute together.  Rose was going to Emery's to be babysat the other night and I made the mistake of telling her before nap time.  I struggled to get her down for like an hour and half and when I went in she was sobbing "I just want Emme!"  So cute and sad at the same time.
Birthday quiche.  Amazing.
Rose got a play make up set from Mike's parents!  She is obsessed with it!
Care wanted in on all of the action.  It was really hard to keep her from eating the wrapping paper.
Dress up shoes from JJ.
Baby high chair from Grandma and Grandpa.  Have some corn, baby.
Elmo cake!
She was getting quite tired by the time we got to the cake.
Birthday celebrations of the 21st century.
On Rose's first birthday we gave her a bath at night so I felt like we should do it again because it was a sweet memory I had with her.
Stop growing babies!!!
Happy Birthday Rosey cakes!  We love you!  You are a sweet sweet girl and the best big sister ever.

Checking In

We've been busy in these parts!  August is the best month in Seattle and if you don't take advantage of every ray of sunshine, you are missing out!  We started off the month watching the Olympics, which were amazing.  I'm still not caught up on my sleep and still coming off of my Olympics coma.  I watched every second that I could!  We haven't been as good at bringing our camera out lately.  Our little point and shoot doesn't work anymore so if we don't bring the big Nikon then we try to have our iPad with us. Here are some pics off of the iPad.

Mormon night with the Mariners.

We've gone to the lake a bunch of times this summer. This is Newcastle Beach Park in Bellevue.  That's Rose and her BFF Emery.
I guess we weren't watching Caroline too closely because she kinda got a hold of an Oreo.  She is soooooo ready for solids but I am not a fan of the baby food stage so I'm trying to hold off.  I don't think it's going to last much longer!
Some of our friends from Mike's program at WSU had a conference in downtown Seattle so we met up with them for dinner.  Mike picked out this hip place (per a hip friend's recommendation) and it was a big hit.  I actually loved it.

Now to the pics from our camera.  I made this dress for Rose.

We bought a bike trailer off of craigslist and got this awesome helmet for Rose.  We haven't found one that fits Caroline yet so I guess she has to wait a while to try it out.

We were telling Rose to get ready for a ride and she went in the garage and got out her life jacket.  Hilarious.  I guess she wanted to be fully protected!

Apparently she had that look on her face the whole time...

Last weekend we took our little Den on a big hike at Rattle Snake Ridge.  They did awesome and were rewarded with tin foil dinners at the bottom.
I think this is the first picture of just the three of us since Caroline was born!
Look at that sweet babe.

Islander Aquathon

Last weekend I competed participated in an aquathon on Mercer Island.  What is an aquathon, you ask?  Just a swim and a run...so a triathlon without the bike!  It was an awesome experience and I'm really proud of myself for doing it.

The swim was about a half mile and I was one of about 5 people who didn't have a wet suit on which was pretty intimidating to me but I noticed a group of 3 girls who also didn't have wet suits so I befriended them and it made me feel so much better!  The water was seriously amazing though...probably about 70 degrees, so take that wetsuits.
All of the pictures of me were quite unflattering so I'm not posting them!
Team no wet suit!
I did really well in the swim...especially for only swimming once a week.  The run was a 5k and I did shockingly well for how slow I am. *note: I am not being modest.  I am dang slow (ask Mike).
Mike has been so supportive these past few weeks that I've been training!  He has watched the girls tons and motivated me to get my workouts in.  Next year I'm planning on doing the Long Course event (1 mile swim/10k)!
