Lollipop Treat Covers

I just love 3D stuff, especially if it's paper pieced.  I love paper piecings, packages and presents! Did I tell you I've been playing with some new SVG's (and JPEG's) and absolutely love putting them together.  They're like cute little puzzles that you can decide the colours for.  Here is what I put together using the newly added Lollipop Treat Covers from Whimsie Doodles.

Here are some Valentine Treats for school aged children....
You can't have a school theme without a pencil.

Don't forget your furry friends, or friends with fur babies!!
I made these for my Vet and her staff

Hint: If you don't have the right colour card stock just cut everything out in white and colour the individual pieces.  I did this for the glue bottles, pencil and baby bottle images with my Copic markers.

Friends with Chocolate_ShortCuts 3D Friday

Well it’s Friday already and it’s time to post a new 3D project for ShortCuts. This one is my favourite. The window in this project is made with ShortCuts Frosted sheet. It’s perfect for this kind of application because it’s sturdy and semi-transparent. It gives you a little peek and still keeps the secret! Do you remember the Life Saver candy boxes that appear around Christmas? My husband remembers getting a box of these every Christmas from his grandmother. Well I just love the box and decided to make one that would hold any kind of candy I wanted to fill it with. I put my favourite candy inside orange flavoured vanilla kisses.

incase you want to make a box for your friend I’ve made a template for you. Enjoy

Short Cuts Fosted Sheets Treat Box + Tutorial

Here's another version of the Cupcake box I made earlier. I decided to use Full Frosted Sheet of Acetate (from Short Cuts) rather than clear this time. Why? Well I thought it would make a cute gift for someone and with it being frosted it's almost a teaser as to what it contains. I filled it with French Vanilla Maxiccino, candy canes and kisses. And I'm showing you my secret weapon for paperpiecing...big paper clips. They sure are "handy-dandy"...LOL

Directions

The box measures 3” squared x 6” high.
Cut one piece of acetate 6x10.5”, score at 0.5, 3.5, 7, and 10”. (this only gives you 3 sides of the box)
You will need to cut an additional 3x6” of cardstock (this is the 4th side of the box or the back side).
Fold the score lines and glue the back piece to form a box.
For the base and top covers cut two 6x6” piece of pattern paper.
Score at 1 ½” and 4½” on both sides.
Fold and glue the flaps together to form your box. Decorate as desired.
Slip the bottom box over the clear box body. Glue with Tombo adhesive or Sticky strips.

Glue only the bottom piece to the clear body, you will want to be able to fill the box when your finished.

To make a stand inside the box so objects appear higher (don’t get lost on the bottom of the box). (Photos not included for this because you just need to repeat the steps to make the base).

For the base and top covers cut two 5.5x5.5” piece of pattern paper.
Score at 1” and 3 ½” on both sides.
Fold and glue the flaps together to form your box.
Flip your box so that the bottom becomes the top, to stand your cupcake on.

Hurricane Lamp

Here’s my “twist” on the Treat Box, I thought it would make a cute version of a “hurricane lamp”. The full sheet of acetate from Short Cuts is perfect for making these boxes, not only is it perfectly clear but it’s thick, (thicker than any other type I’ve used) which makes it perfect for projects like this. The box is itself is really strong and can hold stuff really good. I scored all my fold lines and it just stays in place, add a little glue and there you go. I find Tombo adhesive runner works best.
The measurements are: Cut one piece of acetate 6x11”, score along the 11” side at 2”,5”,7”and 10”. Fold the score lines and glue where they over lap.
For the base and top covers cut two 5x6” pieces of pattern paper. Score along the 5” side at 1 ½” and 3 ½” and along the 6” side at 1 ½” and 4 ½”.
Assemble the top and bottom and slip over the clear box body. Glue with Tombo adhesive or Sticky strips. Decorate as desired.
The background was made by using my Watercolour and baby wipes technique, see video tutorial for this technique right here in my blog. Stamp images can cut around leaving a 2’ bottom, score ½” from the bottom, fold and glue to base of the box bottom. Glue the rider to the front of the box and the large tree to the back.
Punch 4 snowflakes, sandwich tread between two snowflakes and tread through the top of the box, decide how low you want the snowflake to hang and tie a knot at the top.
This example has a Flameless tea light in it, the pic on the right shows how it glows. I can never seem to get a pic that shows this effect as pretty as it is in real life.
Repeat.
