No, it isn't Simian Saturday, BUT I didn't want to wait till Saturday to post about this.

Check out The Planet of the Apes RPG Primer over HERE

Good to see some D6 system options, and with Apes no less and classic POTA for the win!!!

Gotta run! Watch out for those Gorilla Soldiers!

Planet of the Apes RPG (a bit more info...)

I mentioned yesterday about the upcoming Planet of the Apes RPG, I have a bit more information today.

"The game will use the Magnetic Variant system which is a variation of the D6 System created by West End Games for their licensed RPGs Ghostbusters and Star Wars in the 1980s."

It will have resin miniatures.  Here's some new pictures...

I'll be watching this one very closely.  I still have my copy of Apes Victorious, but this could be interesting.  Stay Tuned!

Gaming Update (EZD6 and Star Scoundrels)

Gamer Greetings,
Hope everyone is doing well, been sickly winter already around here.  Work and illness have derailed any gaming for quite a while, but we can still think about gaming, right?
I still find myself in a Sci Fi mindset.  As well as an ongoing interest in Post-Apocalyptic gaming. I saw where the EZD6 Wasted World will be released soon, I haven't picked up the EZD6 core rules, but a P.A. version? that's my jam.  I'll be grabbing that one for sure.  I'll try to post more about it when I pick it up. Check out the cover of the softback! Kewel! From what I know of EZD6 looks to be rules lite, might even try some online play, since in person scheduling is such a challenge of late.  More to come on EZD6 Wasted World.

I've been following Trey's posts over on From the Sorcerer's Skull lately about Black Star and Star Scoundrels. He even did a brief comparison of two alien species in the systems.   I've done several posts about Black Star, but have not had chance to play it yet.
After reading Trey's posts I picked up Star Scoundrels. Star Scoundrels has a tad bit more stuff to it than Black Star, but not excessively so, your character gets a couple of Flaws and a little bit more tweaks.  I'm gonna read over it some more.

I will say I love the random generator tables in the back of Star Scoundrels.  Definitely give you that Star Warsian/80's Sci Fi vibe (is that a word?).  Let me do some random rolls and show you what I mean.

Objective: Kidnap (abduct a Dominion scientist and their research)
Location: Abandoned Construction: Machinery that's become a battleground for control.
Antagonists: Dark Matter Entity: An alien being with an agenda of its own.
Complications: Time Dilation: Near a massive object, time moves differently, altering the mission timeline.

And just like that you have the makings of a pretty wild adventure, the Time Dilation makes me think of the old 80's Ice Pirates movie.

Breachworld RPG

Here's an interesting Kickstarter Breachworld, it uses the Mini-Six system  which is a fun rules-lite version of the D6 System of original Star Wars RPG fame.
It reminds me of Rifts a bit, Post Apocalyptic Earth with Aliens and Monsters, sounds pretty cool.  I'll be following this one closely!

Thanks Tetsubo!

I wanted to send out a special thanks to Tetsubo,
He read my recent posts about my discovery of the old Star Wars D6 system and sent me several D6 Star Wars books he had...just because!  How cool is that!
One in particular that I had been looking for was in the stack he sent:

I tip my hat to Tetsubo and all the cool gamers out there!  I've sent folks stuff when I could and have been given stuff like the above. Although, I believe I've received more than I've given (hmm need to work on that!)  : )  Anyways, I know bloggers can be a bit cranky and opinionated at times, but there are some genuinely great and giving people out there.  I appreciate being part of this community.

Klingon Gorillas!!

In doing my digging around the internet for Sci Fi gaming resources,  I found this!!

Klingon Gorilla Shock Troops!! HOLY CRAP!!!
It's actually a Slirdarian bear-ape, but I like the artist going with a more gorilla than bear approach.
You can see the original artwork here.  My players are probably happy I didn't have this back when we were playing D20 Modern/Future! I may have to track this down for future use.  D6 anyone?  ; )

Lincoln the Vampire Hunter, Apemen, Dhampirs Oh My!

Oh Yeah!
My buddy David just posted his write-up of Lincoln Vampire Hunter for D6 and  Savage Worlds, as well as, a bunch of other stuff for Savage Worlds!  Including the Apeman race (just in time for Simian Saturday!).  Check 'em out!

D6 Space

I know most if not all of you know the D6 rules are available for free download. Which is just really cool!
However, I'm just a book in hand kinda guy, so I looked around to see if any of the recent D6 books were available in print form for a good price.  I lucked up and got a Hardback copy of D6 Space for $5.

I don't know when we will get to play D6/Mini-Six, but I gotta admit it's a neat rules system.  Happy to have it as part of my collection.  So many games so little time!

The Unofficial Marvel Comics Star Wars Roleplaying Page

A follow up to yesterday's post regarding Star Wars D6. While I did mostly miss out on the coolness of Star Wars D6, I was a big fan of the Marvel Comics Star Wars run, particularly the earlier stories...featuring Jaxxon, and Valance and the later stories with the wicked cool Nagai!
Here is a great Web-site featuring original art, D6 stats and a whole lot of love of the Marvel Comics Star Wars run. So without further ado I  bring you The Home of the Lost Star Warriors!

Star Wars D6...Sorry I'm late!

After my great finds Saturday, my wife had a much easier time getting me out and about to do some antiquing/shopping yesterday.  For the most part we didn't really find much of interest, but we spent a pleasant day together.  Late in the day, I think she felt sorry for me, as I had eagerly hoped to score more Sci Fi novels from yesteryear, but had so far come up empty handed.  So she suggested we stop at an out of the way little book store, one that I had forgotten about (its quite a drive from our normal haunts).  I didn't expect to find much, last time I was in there I didn't find anything of interest to me, but I figured it couldn't hurt so we went inside.
Tucked in a back corner behind some unrelated books I found this!!!

                                                     and this!
They were just a few bucks for both of them so I snagged them.  I've posted before that I had very little exposure to Star Wars d6, I was starting college when it first came out, and had taken sort of a break from gaming at the time and was focused on advanced scholarly pursuits (translation GIRLS).  I think I played it in a friends game once or twice.  Reading this last night I realized this is a sweet set of rules.  I particularly like the starship combat, simple yet captures the cinematic feel of the movies.  I had picked up Mini-Six awhile ago, but my Gamer A.D.D. shifted me in other directions. This has me thinking I need to give D6 another look.  I love to mix and match stuff in my Campaigns and with D6 it seems like a breeze to do so.  Plus, there are a TON of free resources out there for D6. They've even made the rules Open to the public, pretty cool.  Anyways just thought I'd share.

Warp Riders

I was recently  made aware that the group The Sword has released their third album; Warp Riders. I really like this band, so asap I went out and picked up the album.  I was not disappointed and as an added bonus, I found the album cover to be quite awesome!
This just begs to be a used as inspiration for a Sci-Fi Campaign!  Now to just decide on a rules system??
Mini-Six, Savage Worlds, Traveller, hmm things to ponder!
