Our trick or treaters

These are my cute little trick or treaters this year.

Tyler wanted to be a cowboy.
          Mason an Indian.
Elly a frog or a hog as she called it.
                 My cute little pumpkin Drake.
Here is a close up of their cute faces we painted.  Tyler only needed a five a clock shadow.
Mason needed some war paint and tan skin.
Elly needed a green face and spots.  Drake didn't get painted.
We started the night off with the school's trunk or treat and then went and saw great grandma and grandpa.  Then we did the girls Jay works with and some of the people around town that the kids know.
This was the first year the kids have trick or treated here because we normal go and trick or treat with their cousins in Wyoming.  It wasn't the same and we missed being up there for the holiday.   We still had fun going with their cousins here.  The kids came home with more candy then they will ever eat, but they love going around getting it.

Pumpkins!

This year I found a great surprise on day when the kids had gone to school.  I walked out back to shut the fence and found this.
A giant pumpkin patch had grown behind our fence.  Every year when we carve pumpkins we just toss the seeds out behind the fence.  Thanks to all the rain we had this summer one few of the seeds grew without any help from us.  When I found the plant I pulled all the weeds around it and we watered it.  The kids were so excited when they got home from school and I showed it to them.
It had three really good sized pumpkins on it and a few more we were hoping would keep growing so we would at least get four.
The kids checked on it almost everyday to see how it was growing and then to see if it had turned orange.
The kids with their pumpkins.  Tyler's weighed 31 pounds and Mason's 25 pounds and Elly's we 16 pounds.
We only ended up with three so we had to buy on for Drake.
I love carving pumpkins so we do it every year.  Here are the four pumpkins we carved before the carving.
The kids always have to take their shirts off for this activity because when they reach into clean out the pumpkins they get so gross.  It was good to have Jay here to help me with it this year.
Our finished pumpkins.  Drakes cute pumpkin is him with two teeth and little hairs sticking straight up.  Elly's the trick or treat, Mason's the ghost with Boo in it and Tyler's is a scarecrow.
Our kids and their pumpkins.  I thought it was fun but Jay needed some convincing.

Hair gone WILD

I wanted to do her hair curly for church because it looks really cute.  We haven't done it like this for a while and her hair has grown so it was pretty crazy when we let it out.  I am going to need to get a little bigger curler.  I was worried it wasn't going to settle down enough for church.
It did and I think it turned out pretty cute.  I still want to try some bigger curlers though.  She was so cute pulling all kinds of funny faces and only a few nice smiles.  She has started tipping her head when I say I want a cute smile.  She is a funny girl.
What a cutie!

My Sisters wedding

My sister, Candice, got married in the Logan Temple October 8th.  It was a nice ceremony and the weather was perfect, it could have been a little warmer but it didn't rain on us like it looked like it was going to all day.  I am glad that my siblings are setting good examples for my kids by getting married in the temple.
Some pictures of the happy couple.  I was so nervous for weeks because they wanted me to take their pictures and I don't know what I am doing.  Thankfully some of them turned out pretty good.
Candice's Family and Friends that made it to the Temple.
All of the brothers and sisters but one brother is missing.
Candice and her sisters.
Candice and her brothers minus McKay.
Dalan and Candice with all the Grandkids, but four of them.  The little girls all have skirts my mom made that match the center pieces.
Candice with Dalan's family.  He has a brother that is on a mission right now so he is missing.  We loved his family.
Some pictures from the reception.  These are the centerpieces.  Camille made the pumpkins and the cute quilt block.  She is going to sew them all together now that it is over and turn it into a quilt for Dalan and Candice.  The Tootsies and fruites are Candice's favorite candies so they were included in the centerpiece for people to snack on.  I did the pictures and someone from Dalan's side did the cute holders.
Camille also did the wedding cake, with some help from my aunt.  She was so nervous to make it but I think it turned out so cute.  She did a great job with it.
The wedding was good and we had a lot of fun planning it, but it is nice to have it over with.  We are very excited to have Dalan in our family and it is fun to see Candice so happy.  We love them.

Birthdays

I am not a person who loves my birthday to come around.  I don't like getting old and older.  I am already finding that my body doesn't move and work as good as it did when I was younger, I miss that.  I wish my hair would remember how to grow only brown hairs and forget the gray hairs it is adding. I don't feel old enough for my kids to be as old as they are.  I know I am not old but I wish the years would slow down instead of going so fast.
This year I got a knock at my door from someone delivering flowers to me from my husband.  They were so beautiful.  It definitely made my birthday nice.
Elly loved them as much as I did and wanted some for herself.  She wanted me to take a picture of her with my flowers.  Cute girl.
I love flowers and if I could have fresh flowers on my table everyday I would, but since I can't I love when I do get them.  Some people think it is a waste but it brights up any day when you see them.  Thanks Jay for the beautiful flowers.  I loved them.

Drake is 6 months old!

I have loved having this little boy in our home.  He is a happy and a fun baby.  I love his cute little smile and dimples.  He has some beautiful blue eyes.
He is now 16 lbs and 6 oz. and is now sitting up by himself.

First tooth!!

We had a very unhappy baby at our house for at least a week.  None of my other three kids have had a hard time with teeth.  They have had a low fever and been a little cranky.  Drake was terrible!  He was so hot that I was nervous and had him sleep in bed by me a couple of nights.  That always tells me they are bad because I don't let my kids sleep with me.  He wouldn't let anyone hold him and cried all the time.  He is normally a pretty happy kid so him crying all the time was hard for me.  He seemed so miserable.  He finally got his first tooth on the 16th of October and then a second tooth came in on the 20th.  The nice thing was we got two teeth out of it.  I am not looking forward to him getting more teeth if this is how it is going to be.  It is nice to have my happy baby back.  His two little teeth are so cute, but very sharp we have already learned!

Halloween traditions

We don't do much for Halloween but one thing we do is make sugar cookies with the kids.  They always like cutting them out, eating the dough, frosting them, putting sprinkles all over them and giving some of them to cousins.
This year they wanted more to frost when they finished all that we had made.  Normally I end up finishing frosting the cookies and they do the sprinkles.
Elly kept putting to much frosting on so she was a little sad when we told her it was to much.  She loved putting lots of sprinkles on though.

Who's Who?

Everyone is always tell you who they think your kids look like.  My kids have a hard time telling themselves apart if there is only one of them in the picture.  I think all of my kids look pretty much the same.  I only make one kind, if you don't believe me take a look and see if you can tell me who they are. I included two of each to help make it easier.

Here is a picture of Jay we believe at about eight months old. There are definitely similarities between him and the kids.  Everyone says they look just like their dad and you can say it is true even more now that you have seen this picture.
I tried to find a picture of myself about this same age but had no luck.  This one was two months old and the next one I was two so it is hard to say if their is any of their mother in them or not.
