Pacer's Fetish

I need a video of this too because it is too goofy. He crawls to the closet, brings the shoes in one at a time, and dumps them in the tub. We clean it out everyday and he fills it back up. It's funny to watch him because he is so determined to get as many shoes in as fast as possible. It's like a crazy obsession. I'm just glad he has a good way to stay entertained.

I kind of love Christmas

We put up the tree a few weeks ago. I love it when it is finally time to put you Christmas decorations. I could almost leave them up all year. Josh was really thrilled about getting his picture taken decorating. Can't you tell?

Brooklyn gushed in her usual manner about how beautiful the tree was and how happy she was to be decorating it. Christmas really is so much better with kids. Their excitement for everything brightens it all up.

Brookie

I already posted this on facebook, but I needed it here so I could remember it because it is so Brooklyn and it makes me laugh.

I was spending the day in my morning workout attire doing chores so I had a nice little bun in my hair. Brooklyn kept trying to comb it. She would talk in her high pitched pretend princess voice and kept saying things like, "It's okay my darling" and "Turn around my darling" and "Hold still Cinderella."

I really wasn't in the mood for hair combing because it hurt due to it being pulled up so I kept yelling at her and she kept reminding me to hold still. Finally after about the third episode of her coming over to comb it I told her to get down and go find a doll or a barbie or something to comb instead.

So she says (very dramatically), "I can't and I have to go now because you are being all crazy Cinderella to me."

Then she stomped off like a true prima donna.

Updates

Josh and I are still both in school.

Work is still plugging along.

The kids are still growing.

I think that pretty much covers it.

Last week I got this major craving for pumpkin pie. Who says you have to wait till Thanksgiving to have pie? So I gather up my pumpkins. Got them all ready to bake. They were beautiful! And they smelled beautiful. And it was my first attempt at cooking real pumpkins so I was a little bit excited.

I scooped out the goods and pureed it. Then I went to working mixing up my pie crust. Then I got really ambitious, and hungry, and decided I'd make french bread too to go with dinner since I had all the bread ingredients. So I found me a delicious recipe with amazing reviews that everyone just loved, and whipped up a little bread on the side.

Then came pie filling time. I pulled out my spices getting more and more excited as I smelled everything coming together. I popped it in the oven and let me tell you...it looked awesome! (except for the knife slice I had to make to test the middle)

I remember thinking..."I've had a great day today. I just love baking and I'm going to blog about it later, and I can't wait for my pie and my dinner and blah blah blah." So I went all out and made my own whipped cream.

Then dinner rolled around and I finally got to "savor" my hard work.

It only took one bite to realize something was wrong. I learned my lesson the hard way. Tin can tasting cannery flour makes for nasty pie and nasty bread and a pretty nasty mood after spending hours in the kitchen. What a wasted day.

Farm Time...

Nothing like baby animals to make the toddler smile. She didn't want to leave. Hence the grumpy face coming up.
Pacer was thrilled to wear the milk headband. Can't you tell? Anyone else notice my eye wrinkles? This picture made me feel old!

Sometimes I feel really bad for Josh. He goes to work all day and I get to play.

Funny

My professor posted this in class. I though it was funny...

In Japan, Toshiba has replaced the impersonal and unhelpful MS Windows error messages

A file that big?
It might be very useful. But now it is gone.

Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

This thousand-dollar screen dies so beautifully.

3 years old!

Ahhh....gone are the days of brand new mom with one cute little baby...arriving are the days of old mom with a three year! Brooklyn had a great birthday. She just reminds me of all things girl. She is so in love with princesses, looking pretty, dancing, getting married...the works. She is hitting a really sweet stage. She tells us she loves us multiple times throughout the day with a big cheesy grin on her face. Every time I ask her why she wants something she answers, "Because I love you!" whether it makes sense or not. It is such a contrast to her sassy second personality that shakes her finger at you and puts her hands on her hips when she is mad. We get a good kick out of her...or at least I do haha. She really knows exactly how to work over her daddy. I blame him for teaching her how to tease :). It has nothing to do with my sassyness haha. Here she is...our sweet little Brookie.

My Garden

Today for the first time I ate a vegetable that I grew myself. I was pretty excited! Check out these beauties!
\

I must say I'm a very neglectful gardener. I kind of got bored with it after a month or so when the squash bugs killed all my squash plants! So it's a little overgrown with weeds, grass, whatever. But finding the green beans today (yes I barely found them and hadn't even noticed they were producing) was good motivation. Maybe I'll get out there and tend to all of my plants a little better, because I definitely like the eating part!

Health Care Bill

Don't let it pass....I wrote my representative today. Took five minutes. Will it make a difference? I think so.

Brooklyn funnies...

This post is random, but I wanted to remember the funny things Brooklyn says. So this week we went to WalMart and a little girl saw Pacer and said "Oh look a baby!" The girl was about Brooklyn's age. Brooklyn looked at me with the most offended looking face and complained, "Mom! That girl says I'm a baby!" She was so mad! I had to explain to her a couple of times that the girl was talking about Pacer. That is the first time I have ever seen her offended by something someone said about her. Looks like we're entering a new phase of awareness.

I don't even know if the next one is appropriate, but it made me laugh this morning. She asked me, "Mom, do you have any milk in your boobs for Pacer?" I was like..."Uh yeah." She then says, "Oh. Are you going to save it for him for later? You should save it for him." I'll do that Brooklyn. Thanks for thinking of him.

Preschool

Brooklyn started preschool this week. I joined a group of mom's that just take turns keeping the kids. She had a really hard time staying the first day and cried like a baby. So I hung out for about 15 minutes and bribed her with candy to stay. After the first day she was hooked. She loved it! And I love it more. She goes two days a week for 2.5 hours. So it is a great break and fun for her to get to play with some friends. This going to preschool stuff makes me feel like she's getting old. She's still two though. I've got lots of time before she grows up right?

9 months?

Oh wow Pacer is 9 months old. Am I really going that crazy? I guess the answer is yes.

10 months old...

Is the first year really almost over...really? I was getting depressed the other day because I started to realize that the time to be pregnant again would be here before I know it. And let's be real who really likes being pregnant? Not me. But it's worth it because I do really like my kids. Especially my little Pacer boy, who recently hit the 10 month mark. He's doing all the things he should do crawling, eating baby food, getting into everything, etc. The only thing he doesn't seem to be doing is getting fatter. He did not gain enough wait according to those nifty little growth curve charts so the Dr said he needed me to supplement him with formula, which I didn't want to do but I tried it. He has been cranky, waking up at night, his poop reeks, he now has a nasty rash and I am done trying formula. He eats GOOD! Three food meals a day. Nurses 4-5 times. He's healthy and happy and I don't think he needs extra nasty junk to make him unhappy. So hopefully the Dr doesn't kill me but I'm ditching the weight gain plan. Is that bad? I don't care. I'll find another way to give him extra calories.

So anyway. Here's my bubba. Doesn't he make you want to smile? He makes me smile. He's the best. He thinks he's so big now. Definitely my favorite stage. And it's so much better now that I have two to entertain each other!

Love Freebies!

I have the best little neighborhood email group. People are always giving away free stuff. I have gotten tons of baby stuff (clothes, food, toys, a swing) trees for my house, a patio set, and outdoor bench etc. But anyway, my favorite freebie so far was this cute little power wheels fourwheeler which is practically brand new. It just needed a battery. Brooklyn loves it! She gave her little buddy Porter a ride last week. At the time she also happened to be obessesed with getting married. Must be something about the party and the pretty dress and the fact that she's a girl and it just comes naturally. Anyway, once we explained that she couldn't marry mommy because she had to marry a boy her main pick was Porter. She told anyone who asked...or didn't...that she was getting married to Porter. Hope his parents are okay with that! haha.

Cute Layouts...

So I prefer not to share this, because I'd rather keep all these cute layouts to myself. But, I figured it was time to give Ashley some props. Pretty much all my layouts for the last...uh year or maybe longer have come from this blog http://www.ashleysbloglayouts.blogspot.com/

Love them! Check it out.

Good food...

I'm all about good food. I like to try new recipes, but I don't like being disappointed. I found this blog that, so far, has met all my expectations. I've tried about 4-5 of the dinner recipes and I made myself the Triple Chocolate Bundt cake for my birthday (is that weird to make yourself a cake? I don't care). Anyway...wanted to share it.

La Jolla Beach

What's with babies and eating sand? We couldn't keep his face out of it.

Sandy Eggo

We both have birthdays within a week of each other so this year we decided to give ourselves a present and go to California. It was so much fun! Sorry the pictures are blurry. I'm too lazy to re upload them to try to fix the fuzz. Anyway, we went to Sea World for a couple days and spent a day on the beach. The kids loved it! I have never seen Pacer so hyper...all day long. Brooklyn is now obsessed with Shamu. We was a really good weekend. We wore the kids out good!

Pacer was all about the splash pad. He kept getting it right in the face, but he didn't care. He would just dive back in for more.
This net was so fun. We all climbed through it.
Sea World's version of teacups....me and Brooklyn went a few times. I love rides!

I love how close you can get to the animals at Sea World. The dolphins were right up in our face.

The stupid pigeons wouldn't fly away from you. Brooklyn chased this one round and round.

Sleeping Buddies

It's not normal to find Brooklyn sleeping anywhere but in her bed. This was a sweet little scene to come home to on a Sunday afternoon.

Am I allowed to keep changing my mind?

Uh...I know I'm crazy, but I switched it back from private. I don't know why it annoys me. But I hate it that new friends can't find my blog. So maybe I'll change my mind again in a week. I've got my list saved. What a loser I know. I beefed up my security. That makes me feel better for now.

Changes...

I guess I've never really blogged this so some of you visitors might have wonders about the extra blondies at our house this summer. In April we had the opportunity to have our four year old niece Kaelsy come to live with us. Her sister Lexie (7) followed a month later. So our house was booming with changes going from one kid...to two...to four...all in a six month period. It definately has not been without it's challenges and I have realized what so many mothers are talking about when they relay how BUSY they are and how HARD it is to raise kids. I was pretty nieve in my one child bliss. I remember complaining before I had Pacer about how hard Brooklyn was. Now I laught at myself! Anyway, I've learned a few things about myself over the last few months. Some things I wish weren't true and some things I'm happy to know I'm capable of handling. What a special opportunity it has been to love these little girls and do my best to show them how much I LOVE them. We found out last Monday they'd be moving back with their Dad. I've cried a little...happies and sads. I'm going to miss them, and I'm glad to see their family together again. They are such special little girls!

Ahh...the lake

There's just a little something special about spending time with your family. That time is even better when spent at the lake! We got in a lot of eating, napping, swimming, jet skiing, picture posing cliff jumping and enough sand to invade the car for a month. I love our yearly lake trip. I just wish it lasted longer.

Oh yes...that is the two year old Brooklyn jumping off cliffs. She loved it!

Aren't they cute?
