Ambush on Ziva

A squad of Ripley Corporation troops conducted a very successful ambush on a humanitarian relief convoy on the embattled planet of Ziva. Imperial auxiliary security forces in their trademark blue uniforms were headed to deliver supplies to a small detainee settlement under the protection of a local Sahadeen separatist faction. Feeling that the Imperials were siding with the rebel scum, the RC marines destroyed the convoy in a lightening strike.

First strike devastates the convoy.

No supplies will get through.

Rebel suicide bombers try to make the marines pay...only one gets through.

Causing the marines to dive for cover...but only one light casualty.

Marines regroup and get ready to bug out...mission accomplished.

This was a short Flying Lead (Ganesha Games) battle with my sci-fi figures set up by my son. An unbalanced affair to be sure but lots of fun. Get to get two groups (security forces and Sahadeen) on the table for the first time.

There is a IABSM battle set up on the other half of the table ready for play. Back to WW2.

Another Ranger Platoon

A platoon from Historicon. Can never have enough Rangers. My son is reading an old (1980) copy of "Darby's Rangers". It is well torn up as I have read it every year since I got it in about 1981.

A M7 Priest is in the back in support.

Recon Jeeps

The 3rd FoW purchase picked out by my son at Historicon. I need to add some white stars to the front armor plate.

1st Flames of War battle

My son and I played our first game of Flames of War using the figures I bought at Historicon 2010 and finished painting in November 2010. We used the same general set up from the imagi-nation game I just finished.

I made this a simple encounter battle with 3 infantry platoons per side.

I drew first blood destroying a Ranger team and damaging my son's morale. I don't go for the kill on him, but I don't let him win all the time either.

We made some mistakes and started to get a good feel for the rules towards the end. I can't say I like the rules very much but they are fairly easy and fast playing...two valauble attributes when initiating a new wargamer.

I think back to my days playing on a sand table with 1/72 plastic figures using homemade rules...I wish I had known more about wargaming back then (I would have loved Charge!) and I would have been in heaven with the Flames of War troops.

Fallshcrimjager Platoon with snipers and flamethrowers

The last of the Flames of War troops on hand. This matures my first project. I will add to the collection periodically...Marders and some armored cars would be good additions.

US Rangers

Rangers for FoW. Got these primed black (poorly) in a trade along with some other items. They were already glued to the bases, but without much thought. I adjusted a few figures.

Plan on two more US infantry platoons (Rifle PLT and Armored Rifle PLT) for my son's force.

A US Parachute Rifle Platoon for my son. These were the first FoW figures I bought a year and a half ago just for him to play with. Painted in the late war uniform.

Fallschrimjager Company

The second company for Flames of War troops...ready to battle the US Rifle Company I did for my son. Next up is a US Para Platoon and a GE Grenadier Platoon. Following those up with a US Rifle Platoon and GE Fallschrimjager Platoon to bring both companies up to three full platoons.
