Hi everybody! Today I'm getting down on my knees and begging for your support. Okay - this isn't me - but hey, I still can't get down on my knees, but if I could I would! I just got word that I am one of 9 finalists, in a competion to win an established money making blog. Please go:

HERE

and check out this opportunity. Read all the short "essays" of the finalists, and if you think I'm the best qualified - VOTE FOR ME - Please.

I happened across this contest, when I went to thank a blogger, for her comment on one of my posts. It was almost as if fate stepped in, and led me by the hand. The name of the blog up for grabs is Because Mom Said So. Now doesn't that sound like me?

This would be the perfect opportunity for me, as I could work from home. No driving (which will be a true blessing to all those unfortunate enough to be on the roads with me). No specific hours (which will accomodate my sleeping problems). No new wardrobe needed (cause YEAH - I've decided that I'm gonna eat right, and start exercising and I'm not going to buy new clothes until I'm down 4 sizes). AND - I can still keep my own personal blog, and keep up with all of you!

You all are the best - and if you vote for me, I'll do my
MY BEST to make you proud!

I'm in Baby Bliss!

What could be sweeter than a new momma and baby? Here is little Conner - all aglow.

He was somewhat jaudice, so he had to be kept in a Billy Blanket.

He had to be left at the hospital, so here is daddy spending a last few minutes with his new son.

And now mom gets to say her good byes.

Leaving to go home - she puts on a brave face!

But- when in the car, reality hits.

Dad isn't too happy either.

Ooooooooooooooh - what sad, sad faces. What can be harder than leaving your new baby, and going home empty handed?

Oh joy - Conner get's to go home the next day. Frowns have been changed into smiles!

Waiting to have Conner officially released.

Daddy taking Conner out of his hospital bassinet.

Mom keeps watch, while dad straps Conner into his car seat.

Gotta strap him in good and tight.

Everything A Okay for take off?

Yep - let's blow this joint!

Conner on his way home.

Mom in front of Conner's first home. See the other Grammy on the left. I am so jealous that Mindi's parents were able to be there for Conner's birth, but I'm so grateful for their love and support of my son and new baby grandson.

We've all taken hundreds of photo's, and I plan to share just about everyone of them over the next few weeks! You all will be sorry that you asked for them!!!

I'm trying to download photo's. Honestly - I am going to post! Hang in there with me - Please?

I want to thank you all for your love and prayers. Things are going better for Stephanie, and we are all grateful for the blessings that have poured out upon her and our family.

The baby is just perfect. I'm so thankful that I have been able to be with him and his parents, this past week AND that I'm going to stick around for another week or two. We have tons to do today and tomorrow, but I PROMISE that I will post lots of pictures very soon!

Again - I thank you all for being there for us, when we so desperately needed friends who care!

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

We've had a devestating family "emergency". NOT - the baby -
he and his parents are all fine, but PLEASE...pray for my
daughter, Stephanie. That's all I can say right now.

Where Did My Brain Go?

I guess that by now, you can all tell, that I'm going through a BRAIN FREEZE. I'm having trouble concentrating, thinking straight, and reading. I've been to the doctors, I'm sleeping pretty well, and I've not been in a lot of pain...so I don't know what's wrong with me. My husband assures me, that I go through this (sometimes for months) every time I have surgery. Soooooooo, please bear with me, until I find my thinking cap, and can post something of interest. While we're waiting for new brain cells to form, I'm leaving this with you...

I did what you told me..

I sent the email to 10 people like you said.

I'm still waiting for that miracle to happen.

cid:X.MA1.1228523576@aol.com

To all my friends who in the last year sent me best 'wishes', chain letters, 'angel' letters or other promises of good luck if I forwarded something,

NONE OF THAT CRAP WORKED!

For 2009 , could you please just send money, chocolate, movie tickets or gasoline vouchers.

Thank you

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Shrek, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lopez were all having lunch together.

Shrek said, 'I have always thought that I'm the strongest man in the World, but how can I be sure?

Brad Pitt said, 'I'm pretty sure I'm the hottest man alive but I've Never had it confirmed.'

Jennifer Lopez agreed. 'I'm told I'm the sexiest of them all, but Sometimes I wonder.'

They all decided that the best way to find out if their beliefs were true was to approach the wicked Queen's mirror to confirm for them whether Shrek was the strongest, Brad Pitt was the hottest and Jennifer Lopez was the sexiest.

They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their findings.

The next day Shrek walked up with a smile. 'Well, it's true. The mirror told me that I am the strongest man in the world.'

Brad Pitt walked in, with a big smile and said "It is true, it has been confirmed that I am the hottest man alive!!'

Jennifer Lopez followed last looking baffled and said "Who the heck is Libby ???

I'm sure that I can be of some influence when then get to choose some bloggers to pass the award on to!
Today I'm a genious...tomorrow I'm not so sure about!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

“This blog invests and believes in ‘proximity’ [meaning that blogging makes us 'close' - being close through proxy].”

As you all probably know by now...I do love getting awards (which actually should disqualify me from receiving it, but it's mine now and I'm not giving it back)!

This to me, is the most wonderful award of all...because it came from someone very special, and because of it's significance.

Proximidade, created by Dawn at Twisted Sister, was passed on to me, by Jientje at:
Heaven Is In Belgium.

The parameters for receiving this award are...

A blog that invests and believes in proximity- nearness in space, time and relationships. Nominated bloggers are exceedingly charming, they aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. This blog award should be sent to another eight bloggers and they, in turn, should forward it to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade in your blog announcement. And please note that all awards and tags are optional ,,,Twisted Sister

Jientje, I thank you from the bottom om my heart, for this beautiful award.

I would like to pass it on to the following bloggers, because I truly feel that their blogs are
Proximidade!

I realize that I've only listed seven, but right now...these are the blogs that tug on my heart strings. There are many others that I read and enjoy. Some of them are more private in nature, others tend to be "light and airy". Besides...this leaves me with the chance of doing another post, and adding more blogs to pass this award on to! I'm even working on creating some awards that are specifically for some of these "other bloggers"...Awards that capture their true nature!

Speaking of blogs...some days I find myself feeling tied down to my blogging. Other days, I can't wait to start typing. Do I have Spring Fever? Have I just "run out of fodder"? I can't wait to see what others have written, but after reading their posts, I often feel that my contributions are somewhat lacking in...I don't know what...Interest? Creativity? Inspiration? I think that I must be in a funk. Maybe it's because my daughter is leaving in a couple of days...and I will really miss her. I think too, that my leg is weighing me down. I'm better, but still lack the ability to do the things that have been a part of my days for most of my adult life. I enjoy cleaning and cooking and crafting. I want to mop the floors so badly, and I long to go upstairs and get my hands on some photo's... to start scrapbooking, and making ornament for next Christmas! AND I miss my friends. Both here and back in Florida.

Oh well...this too shall pass.

I'm going to enjoy the next two days with Suzanne, and then try to get myself back into a schedule that I can deal with. Maybe come up with some regular theme days for my blogging...doing some light cleaning. Maybe try to negotiate the stairs (with supervision), so that I can work on some crafts. Writing to my grand children...and getting S to take me on some Photo Rides.

Love- Peace - and I'm off to the kitchen for breakfast.

Why Men Don't Write Advice Columns

Dear Walter: I hope you can help me here. The other day,

I set off for work in my Volvo 1800 leaving my husband

in the house watching the TV as usual.

I hadn't gone more than a mile down the road when my engine

conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home

to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't believe

my eyes.

He was in our bedroom with the neighbor lady. I am 32, my

husband is 34, and we have been married for twelve years.

When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that

they had been having an affair for the past six months. I

told him to stop or I would leave him.

He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he

has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love

him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he

has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling

and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore.

Can you please help?

Sincerely,

Sheila

************

Dear Sheila:

An 1800 stalling after being driven a short

distance can be caused by a variety of faults

with the engine.

Start by checking that there is no debris in the

fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum lines

and hoses on the in-take manifold and also check

all grounding wires.

If none of these approaches solves the problem,

it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing

low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber.

I hope this helps.

-Walter

Pimp'n Photo's

I have a dear friend back in Florida...actually, I have several dear friends there BUT today, I'm gonna tell you about Mariliana...well - I'm gonna tell you about her son Bruno.

Bruno is out of his mind!

Seriously!

Let me explain.

This kid (well he's a grown man now - but still a kid to me) is one of the most wonderful photographers on the planet. He works all year long in order to be able to get his travel lust fix. He has been all over the world. But Bruno isn't happy with just going to London and taking pictures of BIG BEN. Nope. Nor is he happy to go to Hawaii and take pictures of HULA GIRLS. Nope. Nor does he go to Belgium and take pictures of PRETTY FLOWERS. Nope. This pin head has to climb up mountains, and travel across desserts, and sleep in hovels, and eat dirt. Yep - he's a real live survivor man! He should be working for National Geographic!

I'm asking you all to check out his photography. Not just so that you can see some of his breathtaking work...not just cause I love his mama...not cause I think the boy needs any encouragement...but because I want the guy to go into business with me! I want him to sell his photo's and I want to be the one tell see them for him. Yep - I want to be a photo pimp

First - so that you can truly understand, that I'm telling the truth when I say that he's a certified nut case, please go

HERE

It's a long post, but worth the time to read it all.
I would really appreciate it if you would leave him a comment and let him know that I sent ya, and that he should go into business with me!

Then come back to me, so that you can go

HERE

To check out his photo's from around the world.

Grab something to drink, prop up your feet, and enjoy the trip!

Let me know if you think he's as great as I say he is.

Thank you!!!

Tampons to the Rescue

I had a rough night last night, and I'm not functioning at full capacity... so I'm using one of my "just in case - drafts".

I have a daughter that's coming to visit. She will arrive this evening. I'll have her all to myself for a week or so. I'm sure that she will be helping me with posts about life in our big family.

In the mean time, enjoy this story!

Tampons (A TRUE STORY?)

Folks - I don't know if this is a true story or not, but it was sent to me in an email, and I thought that it was just too great to pass up! After all, you know the old saying...
..."truth is stranger than fiction".

Tampons to the rescue in Iraq !! Don't worry, it's a good story, and worth reading. It's even humorous in parts. It's from the mother of a Marine in Iraq .

My son told me how wonderful the care packages we had sent them from the ladies auxiliary were and wanted me to tell everyone thank you.

He said that one guy we'll call Marine X, got a female care package and everyone was giving him a hard time. My son said, 'Marine X got some really nice smelling lotion and everyone really likes it, so every time he goes to sleep they steal it from him.' I told my son I was really sorry about the mistake, and if he wanted I would send Marine X another package. He told me not to worry about Marine X because every time I send something to him, he shares it with Marine X.

He said when my husband and I sent the last care package, Marine X came over to his cot picked up the box, started fishing through it, and said, 'What'd we get this time?'

But my son said they had the most fun with Marine X's package. He said he wasn't sure who it was supposed to go to, but the panties were size 20, and he said one of the guys got on top of the Humvee and jumped off with the panties over his head and yelled, 'Look at me, I'm an Airborne Ranger!!!!'

One of the guys attached the panties to an antenna and it blew in the wind like a windsock. He said it entertained them for quite awhile. Then of course.......they had those tampons. When he brought this up, my imagination just went running, but he continued.

My son said they had to go on a mission and Marine X wanted the Chap-Stick and lotion for the trip. He grabbed a bunch of the items from his care package and got in the Humvee. As luck would have it he grabbed the tampons too, and my son said everyone was teasing him about 'not forgetting his feminine hygiene products.'

He said things went well for a while, then the convoy was ambushed and a Marine was shot. He said the wound was pretty clean, but it was deep. He said they were administering first aid but couldn't get the bleeding to slow down, and someone said, 'Hey! Use Marine X's tampons!' My son said they put the tampon in the wound. At this point my son profoundly told Me, 'Mom, did you know that tampons expand?' ('Well....yeah!')

They successfully slowed the bleeding until the guy got better medical attention. When they went to check on him later, the surgeon told them, 'You guys saved his life. If you hadn't stopped that bleeding he would have bled to death.' My Son said, 'Mom, the tampons sent by the Marine Moms by mistake saved a Marine's life.'

At this point I asked him, 'Well, what did you do with the rest of the tampons?'

He said, 'Oh, we divided them up and we all have them in our flak jackets, and I kept two for our first aid kit.'

I am absolutely amazed by the ingenuity of our Marines. I can't believe that something that started out as a mistake then turned into a joke, ended up saving someones life. My sister said she doesn't believe in mistakes. She believes God had a plan all along. She believes that 'female care package' was sent to Marine X to save our Marine.

Either way, our efforts have boosted the morale of many Marines, provided much needed items for our troops, AND saved the life of a Marine! God bless every one of you for your efforts and hard work, and God bless our Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force and all our military service personnel.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND KEEP IT SAFE!
