This Jeff Gordon ESPN commercial got me thinking about all of the things I do with my sports heroes' numbers. I remember phone numbers by associating them with Yankees...like if the last four digits are 1836, I'll say to myself "Scott Brosius David Cone." I even use some Yankee numbers in my ATM pin code.
What about you guys? Do any of you use sports numbers in everyday life?
I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.

TTM Success: A World Series MVP makes it two to go!
I had written this one off, but when I returned from my business trip I had two SASE's waiting for me. This one came courtesy of 1998 World Series MVP Scott Brosius c/o Linfield College, where he currently coaches. Scott signed a 2000 Topps and a 2002 Topps card for me! Best of all, I needed the 2000 for my project. With that being said, I am now two away from finishing the project. I only need 2003 and 2005. Fingers crossed!
I think that the 2000 Topps looks awesome. The signature really pops and stuck to the card perfectly, and it's a cool shot of him charging a grounder and making the barehanded play, something he was amazing at.
