1983 Fleer Stamps Unopened Package

Year: 1983
Manufacturer: Fleer
Set: Baseball Stamps
Number: Group 1 of 4
Attributes: Unopened Package

It's hard for me to pass up a cool, cheap oddball that's still in it's original wrapper.  Of course the main draw for me was that Robin is featured on the front, but there are three other Brewers visible as well.  Add to that great players like Fernando Valenzuela, Kent Tekulve, Mike Schmidt, and some guy named George Brett and it's a great find.  And there are an additional 56 players and/or team stamps not visible.

There are a couple areas in my collection I think I'm going to focus on more in the coming year and one of them is memorabilia and cards still in their original packaging, like this and cello packs and rack packs.

I also really like that the original price tag from Boscov's Department store is still on it.  Boscov's is a family owned chain based in the Northeast and New England area and they're still in business.  It's neat to see what these were going for back in 1983.

2014 Panini Golden Age Star Stamps

Card Manufacturer: Panini
Card Set: Golden Age
Year:  2014
Card Number: 26
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Star Stamps

Whew. I'm back finally.  It was a long summer spent mostly out in the field, but I'm mostly done and can get back to my intermittent blogging.

When Golden Age came out this year the majority of the subjects were non-baseball, but there were a few mixed in with the product and of of the coolest featured Mr. Yount.

It's interesting to know that I'd been watching these cards on ebay since they came out and was pretty amazed at the prices that this card was going for.  The first one went for over $20 and most have gone for more than $10.  And being the cheapskate that I am I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pick this card up.  But I noticed that justcommons.com had one in it's inventory and for a really reasonable price compared to ebay sales and shipping, so I ended up picking up 6 new Younts from them and putting together a few Brewers team sets I needed.

This card comes from the Star Stamps insert and features 4 players. You probably can't tell from the scan but each player is it's own separate sticker and has a deckeled stamp edge.

And while the lack of logos on the hats is a little off putting this is a great card simply for the fact that all four players featured are linked.  This card represents the 1999 Hall of Fame class.  A great collection of players all linked with MLB history and a great addition to the collection.
