Pink Kilim Indoor Outdoor Rug

I'm sure many words in that title caught your attention. And I'll add to the description - Under $400.

World Market currently has a doozy of a rug - the Boho Kilim Nagar Indoor Outdoor Rug:

Who else loves a good pink rug? 🙋 And I think this one would read very, very neutral. Plus the indoor/outdoor quality coupled with the price point reads kid-friendly. Pair it with a powder blue sofa and you're in business.

Southwestern Runner Under $100

I have been waiting for a project to come along where I can use this runner (that also comes in a rug version). I've seen it floating around various places on the internet but I just spotted the runner on Overstock for $87.

So time to share it:

THE PINK ONE. RIGHT???

And the brown one.

The pattern is crazy good. And it's WOOL! I love wool. I've gone with the fakey rugs before to get a good price and they are not my jam. Wool can be a little scratchy but at least it feels substantial.

And back to the pattern. It's so lovely. Every single colorway is calling my name - I could definitely do full spaces based on these rugs. And these are just four colors of six.

You need to get in on this and then tell me how you are using it.

In other news, we have dug out of the snow. But now my week feels all out of whack. I'm hoping February is real calm-like.

Colorful Cotton Flatweave Rug

I alluded to our basement den expansion also being on our final punch list and I have earmarked this rug as a possibility - I think it's perfection for a play space:

I'm a big fun of colorful rag rugs, but they can skew a little country sometimes. These are that same soft cotton vibe woven with a kaleidoscope of fun color, but the edge treatment keeps it modern. And the colors are so juicy! I would have trouble picking one, but it's on my shopping list for the new space.

Colorful Stairs

In reality, I could never live with this much white. But boy does it make a statement, especially with that piano. Two thumbs up.

I'm determined to do something on the gloomy basement stairs that head down into Shuffler Playland (i.e. playroom). The vibe down there is so happy but you have to take scary, steep, dark steps to get there. This is part of the expanded basement renovation that has yet to happen. Can you tell I'm kind of focused on griping about our lack of progress on this project?

THERE IS NO TIME FOR ALL OF THE THINGS.

But I'm filing this idea away - I'm digging the white steps with a bold contrast runner.

Catalog Pick: Safavieh Four Seasons Rug

I am constantly searching for rugs. For me, for clients. Rugs. All the time. And they are so hard to find. And the online factor is risky. But the in-store factor isn't always fruitful. So I'm always searching.

And my search turned up this delightful option from Safavieh on Wayfair - LOVE the colors, texture seems durable (read: family friendly), price is amazing (read: low commitment)...perfect for a family space. Like, maybe my basement playroom extension that has yet to be built.

I wonder if it's soft enough for an area that your kids aren't going to trample. I think its indoor/outdoor which always makes me think it will be slightly crunchy, but I do love the pattern for a living room or den. Hmmmm...

Oh and it comes in loads of sizes, so a runner would also be a great option...see it here

Are you always searching for rugs? Where do you look?

Rug Inspiration

That. Rug.

Can't. Stop. Staring.

At. That. Rug.

The colors! The pattern! The COLORS. I would like a rug like this to come into my life. I'm actually waiting for a rug to take my breath away that I can actually purchase to put in our living room and kick off an update. When that will happen, who knows. But I see rugs like this and I get impatient.

See other details of this great room and more of the rug on the blog Annabode.

Classic Cowhide Rugs

I can appreciate a good cowhide rug in a room, but they are often a little too trendy for me. But I love their textural, organic appeal.

And then I spotted these rugs and all forces combine to create the perfect hide rug - texture, pattern and a gorgeous classic, neutral quality that makes them timeless.

That top chevron/herringbone situation is out of this world! Can you imagine in your living room? So chic! And I adore the soft palette of whites, ivories, and grays. These may not be great in a high traffic area, but if you have a space where form trumps function, these are total beauties.

Paint Splatter Rugs

Did you know Isaac Mizrahi now has a rug collection for Safavieh? He does. But that's not really the punch line of this post. The collection is fine - nothing particularly special...except for these paint splatter situations!

Really loving the colors and effect of these rugs and I especially like them in a runner style:

I think they would be a wonderful focal point for a white-walled hallway. They come in several sizes but you can find the runners here, here and here.

What do you think?

Catalog Pick: Coventry Rug

Back to the convo about yellow, I think if you had a neutral room with lots of shades of white and off-white and soft wood tones, this yellow would be the perfect floor accent:

It's the Coventry area rug from Home Decorators. Love the gray border and touches of orange. And it's wool so I imagine it'll last ya. And I stand by my desire to mix it only with neutrals - an off-white couch, an antique secretary - maybe an orange lamp if we want to go nuts.

Catalog Pick: Vintage Vibe Floor Tiles

I always peruse the Flor catalog because I think the concept is a good one - essentially carpet squares - but I typically don't find anything to my taste. Until the new catalog arrived...and I saw the new Vintage Vibe tiles. Hello pretty!

A great take on the classic (or trendy?) Beni Ouarain rugs:

I love to see a real-deal Moroccan rug in a room but these tiles are great for a wall-to-wall look which is hard to achieve with an area rug. And although these tiles aren't bargain bin options ($11.16 sq/ft) they are likely much easier on the wallet than a large area rug with the same look. AND, you can interchange them should your dog/husband/toddler/tipsygirlfried mess one of the squares up.

That first picture with the blue sofa is pretty fetching and my favorite use from the catalog. I am definitely bookmarking this one for myself!

Safavieh Cambridge Rug

Now that you've seen the family room, you'll know what I'm talking about when I refer to the "game table" (what we call it because in my head that's where we'll play all those family board games in a couple of years).

For a refresher, it's this table:

Unfortunately, those chairs have a metal rim underneath them so they are not friendly to the floors. So I had to get a rug. Poor me.

The timing was good because I hit the online Labor Day sales and discovered this sweet 6' square Cambridge rug by Safavieh on Overstock in the most perfect shade of lavender:

Unfortunately this particular rug is sold out, but check out these rugs - so many variations on the same theme in lots of sizes.

It arrived last week and I'm very happy with it. The color is right on - like I said, the perfect shade of lavender. Not too pink and definitely not a strong purple but the right pastel hue for the room to tie in with the lavender ottoman.

Haven't "installed" it yet, but will snap a pic when I do.

Catalog Picks: Grandinroad

Usually, a particular item will catch my eye in a catalog and it makes it to these virtual pages as one of my picks...but I recently spotted a slew of items in the Grandinroad (yup, Grandinroad) catalog that I felt the need to share.

Check 'em out:

Love, love, love these colors! So beautiful and the palette is so vast that you'll never be stuck...this is the kind of piece that will last a long time in your home because it will evolve with you.

Love the look and feel of these guys. The big one would be perfect over a dining table and the little ones would be great used in pairs or a group of three...maybe over a glam kitchen island?

Love the finish and the herringbone pattern. Would make the perfect bar in a living room with useful storage to boot.

And that's not all...definitely a couple more items caught my eye (especially rugs). If you haven't looked at Grandinroad lately, give it a whirl. And no, they are not paying me to say this.

Nursery Block Print Rug

I want to thank the Internet for our nursery rug. I'm not good with rugs. I usually leave them for last and since they are usually so pricey they stress me out when it comes to budgeting for a room. And I love living right on hardwoods so I'm usually not in a rush to get a rug.

All to say that the nursery rug was no different and I kind of gave up before I even started on finding a good rug. And then the Internet helped me out one day when I came across this block print rug from World Market (can't remember where):

I had no idea what I wanted to do with the floor of the nursery. The room is a good size, so I either had to get a sizeable rug or just get a small area rug to accent the one open spot of floor in the center of the room. Either way, it was one of those "I'll know it when I see it" situations.

And I knew it when I saw this cute red/ivory block print option from World Market. It's small at 4x6, but it will just cover the empty spot created between the crib, dresser and bed right in the center of the room. I think the small-scale pattern works great with my huge-scale Le Lac fabric and the reddish brown tones blend into the room really well. And the price of $70 was great (even though it's now $50 - even better).

World Market is not somewhere I often go for my home, but when I rediscover it every once in a while it has some great options. Here are some other rugs I really liked:

The smaller rugs, including the one for our nursery, would look great layered over a large natural rug...may still consider that but I'm happy to have serendipitously crossed this item off of my list.

Art Deco Chinese Rugs

FEAST your eyes on this amazing assortment of antique Art Deco Chinese rugs! They are works of art!

Shockingly gorgeous. Like the best de Gournay wallpaper, but for your floor! Oh my, to have one of these rugs grace my home. Can you imagine? I would love to design a dining room with one of these.

They are antique and ridiculously gorgeous and so are crazy expensive but I adore absorbing their beauty. I can't pick a favorite - each one has the most beautiful motif and collection of colors.

Check out the sale on One Kings Lane and drool right along with me...
