In other life news, it has been hard to keep the blog up with work. It still is hard to adjust to that start-up life I guess. That, and I have been lucky to be able to be traveling a lot this summer! I'll be posting about my Japan trip shortly :)

Denim Overall Dress and Chloe Kurtis Bag

Omg I made my first big girl purchase! After hours of wasted time on the internet, I settled on this mini Chloe Kurtis shoulder bag.  When looking for the right bag, I wanted 1) something practical for both day and night (this may be more day, but it's black so I think I can make it work!) and 2) a style that would be unique but not too trendy (I'm spending a lot, so it better match my wardrobe).  Other purses at the top of my wishlist were the Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme and Mal's Gucci GG Marmont.

Ultimately I could not get myself to spend so much on a purse, so I got the Kurtis when I saw it at 50% off on Neiman's. I love the gold hardware and the understated design.

I have been trying to wear cozy knits for weeks, but finally it actually makes sense, temperature-wise. I nabbed this knit in-store last week and was smitten.  I had seen it online but noticed it was only available in medium. Being short, I was worried about the fit, but in-store they only had mediums anyway.  Luckily, I like it slouchy.

I wanted to pair it with a stretchy midi-skirt, which I don't own, so I faked it with a dress and a belt underneath to tuck in the sweater.

I tend to gravitate towards white lacy tops (see here and here), so this crochet top is right up my alley.  This is one of my favorite Forever buys to date, so I really wish I could link it here!  I will keep an eye out for it on the site, and if it comes back in stock, I will make sure to update this post.

I nabbed this top back when we were doing our collaboration with the Great Mall, and I still cannot believe my luck.  It reminds me of this Asilio top Walk in Wonderland wore a million years ago.  I saw it randomly on a go-back rack and it had no tag and a bit of make-up on it.  The salesperson was helpful and looked up the style to see if there was another (a clean one, and one for Whit too) but apparently this was the last in store and it was sold out online.  I got a bit of a discount for the smudged make-up, making it final sale (if you ever see a damaged item you really want and are sure to keep, always ask the register if you can get a damage discount...usually 5-15% off).  Luckily the make-up came right off in the wash!

I hadn't been in Ann Taylor recently, so when I wandered in with my sister when I was visiting her in Seattle I was surprised how 'hip' it has become.  They have some really cute stuff this season...  someone needs to talk me out of buying this floral set.  They also have a ton of culottes (although they are calling them 'wide leg ankle pants'), which I am normally afraid of because of my height, but they carry them in petites!  These were 50% off in-store, so with my sister's encouragement that I 'looked tall' I decided to go for it. 

Even with my sister insisting that I looked tall with my flats, I decided to take no chances and paired them with these platform wedges I got years ago at DSW.  I haven't worn them in forever, so the blogger brunch before the WhoWhatWear #bossnotes event last Saturday was the perfect excuse.
