The Last of the Mohicans - Pulp Alley

One of my favourite Movies the Daniel Day Lewis version of the classic Last of the Mohicans lends its small skirmishes to Pulp Alley rule set very well and a free down load of cards made it easy to set up for a quick solo game . Hawkeye and His father and Brother had to try and find Cora ,Alica and Major Haywood before Maqua and his warband could claim them as his pize . A really great game with a cinematic showdown between Chingachook and Maqua finally gave the goodguys a victory . Took some pictures during set up but forgot todo any during the game .

Muskets and Tomahawks

Ive been struck down with a really painful throat infection but managed to get my first game of Muskets and Tomahaks 2 in before I lost my voice and found my self struggling to do most things .I must admit I enjoyed playing the first version of M&T and was looking forward to v2 until i recieved it and found out the supplements , cards and tokens were really poor quality so put off playing until now. Well the game is excellent really enjoyed playing it and we were playing without too much consultation  of the books after a couple of moves ,The game itself went back and forth and we were not sure who would win until the very last move , a very exciting and bloody adventure with the Brits stealing the game in the end .The random drawer of cards which can give you your opponents cards to play actually added alot of suspense and made it very tactical . Below are aseries of pics from the game , mat and table by Urbanmatz ,buildings mainly 4ground with the barn from warbases ,the pigsty was charlie foxtrot the treees fencing etc a mix of show bought and home made .The figures mainly Galloping Major with some AW and a few warlord /conquest) .

Muskets and Tomahawks second edition.

Just received the new version of muskets and Tomahawks along with the 1st supplement and the cards and tokens. I do have the first edition which I liked but I converted to Shjarps Practice a while ago .There are alot of changes at first glance ,this ediition is acore rule book with the basic rules and you have to buy supplement books to cover different periods muchlike the black powder rules from warlord. The other changes are moving to D10 rather than D6 and how the cards are used .The book is an impressive hard back full colour but only 79 pages long which are packed with colour photos which hint at future supplements such as the Zulu war and Napoleonics . There is alot of explaining of the rules with examples throughout but a quick run through shows there only about 17 pages of rules so a pretty expensive book .The first supplement is Redcoats and Tomahawks ,a magazine like book of 42 pages ,mine is already suffering from folds and creases ,the army lists cover the French Indian war ,war of Independence and the war of 1812 ,I must admit Im not impressed with the lists at all ,again lots of colour eye candy making it a very expensive magazine .The cards again are nice but flimsy and the token set is actually a card punch out set ,written in French on one side and English the other ,again expensive for what they are , I presume some one will bring out MDF or plastic tokens soon you also need new cards and tokens for each supplement you buy . I recieved 3 free minis which are nice .Overall from what ive read so far im not looking at giving up sharp practice . 7/10

a few scenic bits

Took some time to finish off a plastic renedra church ,I based it along with some Renedra grave stones .The church is ok it doesn't fit together too well but its cheap and fits in with a few games I plan F.I.W and ACW for sharps practice and will feature in a upcoming scooby doo game for 7TV ,the grave yard will also fit into a few different games I plan at some point to get a european style church . Also based 2 cabins for my FIW set up I have already used them unbased but the bases set them off and protect them in storage ,the cabins are 4ground which are nice and fairly easy to put together I plan on getting a few more for my American frontier hamlet .
