Dark Heresy Character WiP - Cleric

Venris, the cleric-- ready to paint.

Ive been working on the mk II figure for the cleric in our Dark Heresy campaign. I am still a bit "green" when it comes to sculpting, but I am very pleased how this project turned out (even though it was not very complex).

I started off with an old school Necromunda Redemptionist gang leader. This was a simple head and weapon swap. I managed to get the original head off in usable condition for a future conversion. I replaced it with a Dark Angels hooded Space Marine Head. The stock of the melta gun was too integrated into the figure for me to remove, so I decided to cut the gun in two, just in front of the trigger. I then cut a flamer in a similar fashion and pined and glued the two parts together.

The original figure.
A Necromunda Redemptionist Leader.

Then I added a small brass etched Inquisition symbol from Forge World on his chest, and another one on the back of the book.

Lastly, I sculpted a simple chain necklace attached to the Inquisitorial medallion (see first pic, above).

A little green stuff to fix the missing vestments/collar and to
better merge the flammer with the back half of the melta gun.

Overall, this project exceeded my expectations. The figure looks completely different and is more appropriate to represent the cleric.

I welcome questions, comments and/or critiques.

Drone Project

I came across these 2 figures in my bitz box a little while ago. They are from a boxed set of robots from Grenadier circa mid 80's. These 2 were painted up in my Aquamarines (my brand of variant Ultramarines) colors and used as Imperial Robots in a few 1st edition 40k Games.

As I am preparing to build a new Tau commander, I thought these might make some interesting drones to go along with him (a shield and marker drone).

Tau Remote Sensor Tower Scratch Build Showcase

Here is my attempt at scratch building a unit of Tau Sensor Towers. The actual models are from Forge World, and the rules appear in Imperial Armour Volume Three: The Taros Campaign.

My first stumbling block was getting over the destruction of a few lego pieces to make these towers... something that i found to be challenging. Once I conquered that, I was able to proceed. The base of the tower is an upside down medicine bottle with a Lego core. The top half is comprised on some bases, a few tech bits from a Power Plant Set model kit by Pegasus Hobbies and some plastic tubing.

Here are 3 complete models with a few minis for size comparison.

Tau Heavy Gun Drones WIP

Here are the basic bitz used: A 40mm base, 2x small flying bases, a battle suit head, a burst cannon, a fusion blaster, and a targeting array.

A converted markerlight using a fusion blaster and a tube from canned air. Also the bit that goes under the disk using a battle suit head, 1/8" tubing and a wooden "cap".

The assembled drone. I built a unit of 6, but have since cut off the burst canons and markerlights and re-attached them with magnets.

C&C welcome!! Thanks!
