Originally titled "The Night the Statues Walked", this Lou Cameron tale appeared in the July 1953 issue of Web of Mystery #19, (sorry, don't have it!) But we do have the Oscar Fraga re-drawn version for the Eerie Pubs (as well as Gredown), retitled "The Devil Statues", from the April 1971 issue of Weird Vol. 5 #2, plus a bonus "Weird Facts" page...

Burn, Miser, Burn / Money Hungry
Today we have another side by side comparison of a sizzlin' 50's golden age horror tale vs. its Eerie Publications 70's remake --a hot little number with origins from the June 1953 issue of Mysterious Adventures #14, then revived from the dead and face lifted two decades later for the March 1971 issue of Terror Tales #V3#2 (same issue as the re-draw from our last post.) Anyone have an artist credit for either version? Countdown to The Howler howlin' in 3... 2... 1...

Bird of Prey! >>> Nightmare
"He wanted to make the future secure for his offspring, but his plan turned into a bloody bedlam of shock!" says the contents page for "Nightmare" from the September 1970 issue of Horror Tales Vol. 2 #5. This is yet another 70's remake from Eerie Publications of a Golden Age Harvey pre-code story, and since we haven't done a side-by-side comparison in awhile, let's see the original Abe Simon version first, aka: "Bird of Prey!" from the April 1953 issue of Witches Tales #18... note how both versions deliver on that devastatingly gruesome climax!
