The Prophecy / The Black Candle

Queue up some Motorhead and prepare yourself for a quick and very vicious tale from the joltin' January 1954 issue of Out of the Shadows #11, featuring a scruffy but cool art collaboration by Jack Katz and Vince Colleta. And since it's kind of short, I went ahead and added a one-page Gene Fawcette quickie from the same great issue. "Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again..."

Jack Katz pulls out all of the trash splash stops with a wild, witchy tale from the Oct '52 issue of Out of the Shadows #6. Seriously, ain't that a beaut?! And then "hang" around for a chilly little bonus one-pager (from the same issue) to wrap up our sensational summit with the supernatural!

Creature of the Deep!

Golden Age greats Jack Katz and Jack Abel do a little Jack Kirby channeling and team-up for this epic monster-rama from the August 1971 issue of Nightmare #5. Also!-- the gorgeous Boris Vallejo cover I know a few of you were waiting for a large scan of too. Hope everyone enjoyed this look at a really cool Skywald "horror mood" issue, maybe we'll do another one next year (and thanks again to Brian Barnes who gave me this issue a long time ago.) We've got one more tale on deck to round out 2013 while ringing in the New Year... yes, we've lots more-- see ya in a few!

Bride of Death

Time for a charming "love" story from the sincerely creepy pencil and inked stained mind of Jack Katz, (type his name into the THOIA search engine for more of his crazy work posted here over the years [or check our Artist cloud! -- Nequam]) --this tale was originally presented in the December 1952 issue of Adventures into Darkness #7.

The Sealed Coffin!

I challenged myself to find a Standard Comics story that was more deranged than our previous dances with wolves post, and I do believe we have a contender-- and from the same August 1953 issue of The Unseen #11 even! Yes, it's a pre-code classic with all the right (or wrong) elements: a jungle curse, a pretty blonde (who doesn't stay that way for long), murder, grotesque deformity, a dame socked in the kisser, a vengeful spirit, and so on... I think you're definitely gonna like (or despise) this one!
