Jyn Erso

"My father's revenge. He built a flaw in the Death Star. He put a fuse in middle of your machine and I've just told the entire galaxy how to light it."
―Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic

If you, like me, loved Rogue One, then this is the Commander for you.  Available to the Rebel forces, Jyn is a great operative for leading your forces, having some nice tricks up her sleeve.

The model, which like all FFG Legion figures borders towards 35mm in scale, has a super dynamic pose as she swings her Tonfa to smack her enemies across the face.

Coming in the light grey plastic typical of the range, the material and the details lend to a great painting experience without being to fiddly to assemble.
Just take care to attach the head first, and then the flaps of her scarf for the best fitting!

I went for the drakish green vest on her like she wears often in the movies, with a drabcoloured scarf for contrast on her otherwise dark grey clothing, to prevent her from becoming to bland at all.

And now, swinging her tonfa and with her trusty blaster, she is ready to lead my forces in the TSA Star Wars Legion campaign!

Rebel Unit Leader and Heavy Weapons

As I continue to work through the Pile of Shame, I've rounded out the remainder of my Star Wars Legion Rebel Troopers box.

And while I can only use one of the two heavy weapons in a squad, I went for both to have options.

The Unit Leader comes with his trusted blaster and binoculars, sporting a trenchcoat.

The first heavy trooper has an Ion gun, for blasting at the enemy...

... while his companion / alternative sports a gun best known as "Cooooontaaaaaaact" (if you don`t get that movie quote, you need to polish up on your sci-fi classics urgently).

I also printed and painted up some SWL scale crates to go with the models, for no other reason then just feeling like it tbh.

And that completes as such my first unit for the game, now to move onto to Jin.  I must give it to Fantasy Flight Games, while the models are not cheap, the sculpts and material do make for an enjoyable painting experience.

May the Force be with you.

Star Wars Legion Jyn Erso Commander Expansion unboxing

In this unboxing post, I`m taking a look at the commander for my upcoming TSA 500 points League force, Jyn Erso.

I loved Rogue One, thinking I even the best Star wars movie bar The Empire Strikes Back, and it was as such a no brainer for me to include Jyn as the commander of my force.

So the box itself is the normal great artwork affair, though it still is kind of weird for me to see the Disney logo at the back of the box.

Inside you find a construction sheet, the figure and a base, as well as the cards for Jyn, her special missions and her wargear, together with a Token sheet.

The cards are as always of good quality, think M:tG and the likes, and as such might benefit from (clear) sleeving as they often have to be flipped over.  The smaller ones are harder on that part, seeing their unusual size.

The tokens are the regular cardboard affair, so nothing special there and some of them you'll be acquiring by the heaps.

The figure itself is finely detailed, and is far less "massive" in stature then for example Rebel Troopers.  It is equipped with her pistol / rifle weapon, as well as her trusty Tonfa for upclose.

A nice little set indeed, and I look forward to painting her and bringing her to the table!

Star Wars Legion Rebel Troopers

Part of a Skirmish force I`m building for once clublife picks up again after Covid-19, these 4 Rebel Troopers are the first models I painted for the game.

I got no idea how it plays or so, I just allowed myself to be sucked in and we'll see from there though.

But I made an army list and slowly my models are arriving by mail, so I might actually get gaming before summer brake as a result.  I picked the Rebel faction (as if these guys weren`t a dead giveaway) as such, and no light-sabre's in my list.

I also printed out a Cargo sled, which makes some good scenery for the game and a nice little vehicle to display the models on for now, alongside some crates I also printed up.

So, let's call this a decent start.  I`ll paint the rest of the boxed set in the future, but first my priorities now are all the models for all the forces in all the leagues I registred in for 2020...
