So, last day of 2023. It has been fun to blog so it will be more of the same in 2024. Seen here is the annual 91:an Christmas Special, an old favourite in Sweden. I knew when I bought this a few weeks ago that I would showcase it today on this blog.

Balls To The Wall

Nice Accept “Balls To The Wall” feature in Sweden Rock Magazine 12 2023. Another classic album that has turned 40. I have good memories from those days, as I met them a few times back in the day for interviews. Sweden Rock Magazine is good, but they are missing out on the Japanese scene. I feel that they need some competition. Probably not that easy to start up publications these days though.

Last post of this kind for 2023, and here we have the ninth studio album from Leaves Eyes “Myths Of Fate” which is due in March. They always deliver good music. And from UFO we get “Hollywood ´76”, another live release (out now). There is a lot of UFO stuff out there to explore.

Nice Carl Barks book with classic Donald Duck tales from the old days in this Norwegian collection (book 20). I particularly enjoyed the Sea Monster adventure. Here in Jämtland County (Sweden), we feel a strong connection to this subject. Published in 2023, 162 pages.

The Retro C Trop Festival in France is a good example of a successful nostalgia event that just works. I like the fact that old school artists have places like this to perform in front of large crowds. Now Deep Purple (which is a headliner this year) will always attract decent crowds, but there are other names on the bill that will be able to appreciate such places quite a bit. Looks like Purple are going to play at several rock festivals next year. Hopefully, we will have a new album out by then. And speaking of Purple, Rick Beato has added an interview with ex-Purple guitarist Steve Morse to his YouTube channel. You just may want to check that out.

Action Night

Watched “Prey” (2023) and “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021) tonight. “Prey” won the day, hands down. The Godzilla franchise is best served in Japanese hands. Looking forward to seeing the new film, which looks like a winner.

The third studio album from Japanese rockers Nemophila is out on January 17 in Japan. It is called “Evolve”. JPU Records in Europe has not announced a release date as yet. Formed in 2019, Nemophila is one of the most exciting bands to have emerged in recent years. They will perform at the Budokan in Tokyo on February 17. They are very active on their official platforms, loads of videos etc to check out. The rise of Nemophila in Japan is very visible right now. Also seen here is the new issue of Japanese publication We Rock, that sports singer Mayu and guitarist Saki on the cover.

Nazareth In Our Hearts

Posted: December 29, 2023 in Classic Rock, Cool stuff, Hobby

There is a Nazareth live album called “The Full Circle Tour 1981” out on Cleopatra Records. Seems to be a release of some merit. Fans of Nazareth can also enjoy a new release that celebrates Dan McCafferty called “No Turning Back”. Consists of solo tracks from over the years and it really is a nice collection of songs.
