Found an article on me and the Deep Purple Freak Society club that saw print back on October 6 1979 in a local newspaper called LT. I was interviewed by Annika Engman and the shot of me holding a couple of fanzines was taken by Jan Andersson. I wrote a few words on Purple that they added to it, which was cool. This might have been my first little story ever in print, outside of my own publications and a letter that was published in a POSTER magazine before this. I will create one of my nostalgia posters with this being at the center of it. It was around this time that I started to write for newspaper Helsingborgs Dagblad as well (in the south of Sweden, my first article for them was published on October 12 that same year, just days after this). I was 18 and things were about to kick off. Good times.

Picked up the newly framed nostalgia posters from my go to place (Svensson Ramar, Jämtland County) yesterday and here is the second one (first was showcased on April 5). I have just had a bit of fun with my own history, and with stuff that I have loved over the years. The idea is to have a bunch of them in the same space, creating a bit of a time travelling experience. The 1974 live shot of Deep Purple is signed by David Coverdale, it is actually a compilation album cover that I sacrificed for the cause). I think there will be seven of them all in all. I will showcase the third tomorrow on this blog. As you may know, posters four and five is being framed as we speak.

Handed in these home made hobby posters to my go to place in the city today, so these will be framed within a few weeks. I will pick up the two that are ready this week on friday and I will showcase those on this blog within a few days. Having a lot of fun with this ongoing project of mine.

17 years ago, photographer Michael Johansson and I shared a clip on YouTube from my 2001 interview with Ronnie James Dio in which he talks about UFOs and a personal encounter. The clip is up on my old slicerocks page (not used for some time now) and you will find it if you google Dio/UFO. I had just published my one-off publication Top Secret 2009 (this was right before Retrofuture) and there was quite a bit of paranormal stuff in it. Archived on November 2 2020 on this blog, you can check out the massive article inside about rock stars and UFOs in pictures and read more about it. This magazine is long gone but I am proud of what I did there. Maybe I should print a Best Of magazine because this would be cool to still have available out there.

These are two original photographs by Swedish photographer Michael Johansson that were used as covers for my fanzine Deep Purple Forever!, issues one and three (in 1991). The Ritchie Blackmore live shot was taken in Copenhagen back in 1988 as he walked onstage during “Highway Star”. The Ian Gillan shot was taken a couple of years or so later when he was busy as a solo artist in between stints in Purple. Awesome shots, nice to have them framed like this.

Today I dropped these two nostalgia crazy posters off in the city to be framed. There is an awful lot of stuff to spot on these, not least the real autograph by David Coverdale on the right one (Dutch Deep Purple collection LP cover). I will highlight these when I get my hands on them. On to the next…

April 14 means that dear old Ritchie Blackmore celebrates another birthday. I wish the man all the best on his journey.

I finally got around to see the 2016 movie “The Love Witch” on DVD. Bit of a Hitchcock vibe, bit of Hammer in there. Beautiful, but very very creepy. Nobody is going to forget having seen this one. Some good extras as well, including the dance audition tape that actress Samantha Robinson did (I have no problem thinking that she got the job on the spot). This really could/should have been the beginning of a franchise. Full score on the old Cool-o-meter in my book.

Very nice conversation about Jon Lord at the Now Spinning Magazine podcast between Phil Aston and “Before We Forget” author Ovais Naqvi. Check it out.

Really good traffic for the February 6 2019 post “The Cut Runs Deep – Malmsteen Reviews Purple Album In 1991” right now. It was a post based on something that photographer Michael Johansson did for the first issue of my fanzine Deep Purple Forever! back in the day. I later felt it would fun to add it onto Trinkelbonker as well. Not sure who has linked to it right now, my guess would be that it is Malmsteen connected. Or it could be Purple or Turner connected. Or just Classic Rock.
