Schools today must prepare pupils for a complex, ever-changing world. That is why the role of teachers is evolving: rather than simply imparting knowledge, they act as coaches, guiding their pupils’ learning and development processes.

Whilst learning coaching primarily supports learning strategies, motivation and work organisation, pupil coaching takes a holistic approach. In addition to academic topics, it also encompasses personal development, self-confidence, social relationships and future prospects. The aim is to strengthen self-reflection, personal responsibility and the ability to take action.

Pupil coaching is more than just a method – it contributes to school development by fostering a school culture centred on resources and strengths. Pupils take on more responsibility, develop their own solutions and experience a sense of self-efficacy.

The training course, comprising six modules, covers the theoretical foundations as well as practical coaching methods. Through exercises, role-plays and reflection, participants develop a systemic, solution-focused approach and the skills to conduct coaching sessions professionally.

The Pedagogical Workshop comprises two phases.

Phase 1: A series of five training modules, each comprising two workshop days
Phase 2: Implementation with support through process guidance

Conflicts are a regular part of everyday teaching. Conflicts that are poorly resolved or left to smoulder often take their toll not only on individual pupils, but also on the whole atmosphere in the classroom and the working environment. Mediation is a modern and fair method of conflict resolution. Mediators act as neutral facilitators, helping those involved in a dispute to resolve their differences through discussion and to find mutually agreeable solutions. The rest of the training programme focuses on familiarising participants with the Conflict Mediators Programme and other ways of systematically fostering a culture of conflict resolution within the school. Key topics include the training of pupil mediators/conflict resolvers, the gradual implementation of mediation, social skills training and the class council.

The training comprises five blocks of two days each and begins in February 2027. The course fee is 1,520 euros. Schools in Oldenburg may be eligible for funding through the City of Oldenburg’s Prevention Council.

The next round of the two-year "Performing Arts" further education programme will start in September 2026. Participants will acquire a general and a level-related basic qualification that creates the prerequisites for working with the content and methods of Performing Arts (DS):

- in an independent subject of Performing Arts
- in projects and working groups
- in other subjects.

Basic mathematical skills in arithmetic form the foundation for successful learning in maths lessons. Essentially, it is about developing a solid understanding of numbers and operations, which should be laid down in primary school and further developed in secondary school. This understanding determines whether children use and develop arithmetic relationships or whether their gaps in understanding become entrenched, preventing them from gaining deeper mathematical insights.

The symposium focuses on these basic skills and combines the perspectives of primary and secondary education. At the centre are not only theoretical classifications, but also practical approaches to diagnosis and support that can be transferred to your own lessons.

In this learning-intensive module series, we take a look at central aspects of language education in schools on each of the six days of the event.

Formal provisions, language education methods, diversity-conscious education, diagnostic skills, multilingual schools - all of this will be developed in line with the participants' school practice.

This series of face-to-face modules includes self-study components on the BISS blended learning platform for teachers. BiSS-Transfer is a joint initiative of the federal and state governments for the transfer of language education, reading and writing promotion in schools and daycare centres.
