Swans in Richmond.

A few swans at Richmond Tasmania, Australia.  

These swans were rather tame.  The bridge is still used and was built by convicts in 1823.

The big tree in the last photo turns colour in the autumn, we were there this autumn but too early for the colour change.

A view of Lake Dulverton, Oatlands.

All the photos are taken at Lake Dulverton in Oatlands and this was our view from the caravan and also when we sat outside. Some of the photos are zoomed in all the way without a tripod.

Amazing, the day we left Lake Dulverton Margaret Attwood the author of The Handmaid's Tale a TV Series, and of course other books, Margaret popped out of a car as we drove off.  Margaret had been in the Hobart area for a few days attending some convention for authors.

The Black Swans

The Swans on Lake Dulverton in the town of Oatlands in the midlands of Tasmania.

Was born in Oatlands and moved to Hobart when 7 months old when my late dad joined the Police Force.

On the 1st of March we went from Launceston here in Tasmania my home State for a holiday travelling to some areas of the Island when we had never heard of Covid-19. During this time from the blog High Riser Andrew and his partner were travelling the Island too, we were always in different places at different times which was unfortunate because we never got that chance to meet.

Took our caravan and camped for the first night by Lake Dulverton arriving just after lunch, set everything up and sat on the seat provided and watched the Black Swans.

Milllmerran, Queensland

We stopped in Millmerran, Q'land for about 3 days after travelling all that way, and finally we had arrived in the State of Queensland.  Had all the washing from when we left home and it was time to put a little lighter clothing on, though not warm it was warmer than what we had been through.
Caught up on my washing, 4 loads costing just $12.00, could have done it in my own washing machine but it would have taken too long as my machine is very small and great when you wash everyday or second day.

I found the lake at the caravan park to be rather low, much lower than it was in previous years when we stayed.  The grass around the caravan site was not that green, there also were not many people in the caravan park either.  A glimpse of Millmerran in 2017 here. This link will show better the water level in the lake.

Jerilderie, NSW and the Black Swan also Deniliquin, NSW

Jerilderie is a country town of just over 1,000 people, it's an irrigated farming centre, and the area produces a quarter of all tomatoes grown in Australia.  Rice is grown, wheat, canola, mung, soybeans, onions, liquorice, grapes - sheep and cattle farms.

The windmill below is a steel framed one with fan which turns to the wind between a bearing at the bottom and a swivel at the top, all supported by guy-wires.  The fully restored windmill, there are only two known working examples in the world, are unique because their fan is contained and spins within the fully pivoting frame. Produced by the Steel Wings Company in North Sydney between 1907 and 1911 with only six models ever erected.
Jerilderie windmill stands 17 meters (56 ft) high with a 9-metre (30 ft) fan.
