The Bluff

A view along the walkway and riding bike track at Devonport, Tasmania.  Little rocks everywhere and no one swims in this area.
The second photo is the view from the above and looks towards 'The Bluff Caravan Park', the little beach and picnic area.
We stayed here at the caravan park for another two weeks before heading home in March..
The sea is Bass Strait.

The caravan park called 'The Bluff Caravan Park' in Devonport which is owned by the council and managed by good managers who live in a house in the caravan park.
The ship below is heading into the mouth of the Mersey River at Devonport, Tasmania and the ship is the ferry that carries cars and passengers to Melbourne, Victoria's port which will be changed later this year to Geelong, Victoria. The trip takes all night and sometimes there are sailings during the day in the busier times.
The remaining views are taken with my mobile phone from our caravan site.

Amazing the caravan park is nearly empty in the mornings only to be full in the evenings. The amenities on the right, on the roof solar hotwater.

Carnarvon Caravan Park, WA

The Caravan Park we stayed in whilst at Carnarvon, WA. Lovely clean park with friendly hosts and a rather long one.
A photo taken with the self-timer on the camera of my husband and myself in 2015.  It's not often we take a photo of ourselves so you could say it's a rare photo.

Darwin, NT

Darwin the the Capital of the Northern Territory (NT). The population is about 82,000 people. Darwin is in the Tropics of Australia, it's hot and humid in Summer and not too bad in Winer but still humid and hot. There are several beaches and one must be careful of the Saltwater Crocodiles if you see any. We never have in the area.
We have been 3 times to Darwin seeing it change over the years and of course we travelled with the caravan behind us first and second time with our other caravan and vehicle.  The distance is on the map below from home to Darwin via the road.  There isn't a great deal to see along the way, a few towns and off the road camping in peoples paddocks is very handy with a few dollars given to the owner, no water or power.   The terrian is flat, some of it desert with the road usually very straight.

The first photo is of the Mall, or more like it just part of it.

Second photo is what was left of a building after Cyclone Tracy which arrived in Darwin at Christmas time in 1974, it just flattened Darwin and the noise of the Cyclone can be heard at the museum, just a dreadful noise as we went there and listened.

Third photo is of a Public building, the fourth one can't recall what it houses but I believe it survived the Cyclone even though it's near to the sea.

The remainder of the photos are of the caravan park, the palms, the fruit bats come to eat those in the evening and one has to make sure the vehicle is not parked underneath those trees as their 'business' stains the vehicles right through the paint.

'Left of the Field' Caravan Park, Tasmania

Left of the Field Caravan Park is where we stayed next after New Norfolk.  The park is situated in a bush setting with large caravan sites with power, water, camp kitchen, shower, toilets and washing machine facilities.  We have our kitchen, washing machine, shower and so on in our caravan.

Here we had no TV, but we watched the news if we thought to and Netflix on our phones.

We stayed a few days and the old boot ladder was something different to see on the way to the office.

The old horse box does as a laundry, was rather amused to see this.

The above shows an empty site with a fire-pit in the middle there, you buy the wood at a small fee.
Below is on the way to the garbage disposal area and you can see a swing, the old type with ropes hanging from a tree.  I remember when much younger swinging on one of those.

The map just near the left is Mount Field National Park , to the right of that near the yellow road is 'Left of the Field' Caravan Park in Tasmania.  The Capital city Hobart is on on the bottom right of the map.

Wodonga, Victoria

From Temora NSW we headed in Winter 2019 to Wodonga in Victoria, you just keep driving through the border, there is a small sign when coming into Victoria that says, Welcome to Victoria, if you blinked you would miss the sign.
It's about a 2 hour 40 minute drive which is just a nice drive for the day.
We headed to a different Caravan Park in Wodonga where we stayed the very first time we came to Wodonga some years prior, the caravan was nice and had different managers.

It was washing day, even though clothesline were provided near the laundry I preferred to do my washing in my washing machine in the caravan and my husband put the clothes line up under the awning.
There are 3 photos of the caravan park.

Went for a drive to Albury which is in NSW just over the border from Wodonga in Victoria, the two towns are called Twin Cities.
Photos from inside the vehicles to show the beautiful trees in Albury NSW.

Esk Caravan park, Queensland

The caravan park at Esk was lovely.  It was nearly empty when we arrived and by nightfall it was nearly full and was so full the next day.  People just came from everywhere to spend the weekend.
We were parked underneath a huge tree which we were thankful for due to the heat on a winters day.
In the evening time people started to gather in their groups in the camp kitchen and we wondered why - oh yes, entertainment by a wonderful group of singers - we did enjoy the tunes and their voices, they were good and came from Brisbane to perform their concert. They sang good pop songs, ones we knew and that makes a difference, they were not country either.
We didn't need to wander over to the camp kitchen because we could hear and see them so well...thoroughly enjoyed.

Mackay, Queensland

We stopped at Mackay for a few days and caught up with fellow travellers who go there most years.
No photos of Mackay this time as there were many posted in the past.
This city is before you get to Proserpine and the Gunna Go Caravan Park going north and of course after Proserpine going south and of course we stay here on the way north and then on the way south..

A link to Botanic Gardens in Mackay in 2019

Another link to a lighthouse and more.

As we were leaving noticed this lady doing her Yoga in front of everyone.  We often see people doing their exercises of various kinds outside their caravans.

Gunna Go Caravan Park, Queensland

Be safe and keep well!

The Gunna Go Caravan Park we stayed in near Proserpine is a really nice park.  There are two parts to it, the top part and the bottom part but both are joined so to speak.  The amenities are very clean as is the laundry and pool.
There is a bar undercover with chairs and a table, it's here people congregate to meet other travellers and have a drink or two.  Every Friday management put a barbecue on for their guest at no cost to those guests.  Sausages and salads.
Usually a lot of people stay in this park but not last years winter holiday when we were there, we probably missed many stayers as we were later going north.
We stayed in the bottom half, photos were taken from our caravan site.

At St. Helens, Tasmania.

We left Devil's Kitchen and continued to travel up the highway and stayed at Swansea for several nights then onto St. Mary's at the fairly new NRMA Caravan Park for several days.

St. Helens is the largest town on the north east coast of the Island, on Georges Bay.  It's known as the game fishing capital of Tasmania and is also well known for it's oysters.  St. Helens is about 160 km from Launceston which is not that far away obviously.

The flat area of the Caravan Park in St. Helens on the east coast of Tasmania.  These buildings are cabins which are rented out like a motel room but cabins have facilities for cooking.

Photo below is part of the park on the flat, most of the park is up hill.

Above photo is of the amenities with a wall this end which means you have to walk to the other side to enter.  They are lovely and clean and have fans going all the time plus music.

Outside the camp kitchen below and two photos of inside the camp kitchen.  There is a separate building that is the games room.
