The Mural below at Barraba NSW was done by Fintan Magee who's art is to admired. There is also another link to Fintan's work here.
Andrew often does a Mural Monday, here.
Finan says, "Mural depicts a local water diviner searching for ground water, using a y-shaped twig or rod or two L-shaped ones. Diviners study the landscape of a farm and walk over aras where they suspect the water may be located, ground minerals and magnetic forces force the sticks to cross or be pushed downwards when water is located. Despite many studies claiming the technique is pseudo-science. Diviners continue to be used throughout Australia as way of finding ground water."
Taken from Finan Magee Facebooks page.
After taking the photo we continued up the road toward Warialda, NSW stopping a few klm from the nights stop to have a walk about as one does get a bit stiff sitting for a fair while.
The photos are taken of the rest stop showing how dry the area is.
Even cacti will survive though sometimes, we did however see many of them dying.

Cacti in the bush.
Always a good feeling to cross another border for each one it becomes a bit warmer.
The map below shows the way we went after crossing the border at Goondiwindi, Queensland (Qld) from NSW. Continued on by passing Toowoomba to the west then up to Goomeri Qld.

Along this road we have never been on before we came across many cacti growing in the bush, some of it had been sprayed to kill it.
A rode side stop to have a walk about.
The black snowflakes is the way we chose to go.

Zygo Cacti at home.
These wonderful plants have a botanical name that is difficult to
pronounce: Schlumbergera. They are epiphytes (plants which depend on others for support,
but not nutrition) from the jungles of southeast Brazil, a humid area
with high rainfall. In past years, zygocactus were mostly seen with
bright cerise pink flowers. However through the efforts of local as well
as American and Japanese breeders, a stunning range of flower colours
and shapes can be bought.
These photos are of two of my cacti that are in bloom at the moment. These cacti are known also as Christmas Cacti, but here in Australia they bloom towards our winter time, May/June. Can be grown outside in a sheltered area in Southern Australia or cool frosty area, these of mine were grown as an indoor plant.

I practiced my photography skills.
