An Ancient Bird Digimon that possesses powerful leg strength, and is called a living fossil. Its wings do not have sufficient surface area for flight, but to compensate, it is endowed with powerful, muscular legs and is capable of sprinting at speeds exceeding 200 km/h. Also, it has an extremely ferocious personality, and has a habit of regarding anything that moves as an enemy and swooping down on it. Not only that, the feathers that cover its whole body contain metal, making it difficult to inflict damage on Diatrymon without using a considerably powerful attack. Its Special Moves are a tempestuous ramming attack (Mega Dash Impact), and a gigantic roar which damages an extensive area (Destruction Roar).

Digimon Story: Sunburst & Moonlight[edit]

Can be evolved from Muchomon if above level 29, defense 150, and Bird EXP 2400, or can be found at Proxy Island. Can evolve to Sinduramon if above level 40, Bird EXP 8000, and already befriended Sinduramon. It can also Jogress from Solarmon and Dot Falcomon and can Jogress to Delumon with Woodmon.

Diatrymon is the Partner Kemonogami of Hinata Minoru. In Part 2, after the party meets back with the Professor Minase Akiharu, Minoru wants to be a hero and protect him, but is too scared to do so. Falcomon convinces him that he can, which gives Minoru the courage to pursue his dream. This allows Falcomon to evolve into Diatrymon.

Diatrymon is also a playable Kemonogami which can be obtained as both a Partner and a Free Kemonogami. It's a Mobility-type, Moral (Vaccine)-attribute, Adult-level Kemonogami. Its unnamed Attack is Mega Dash Impact (85 power, 0 SP, deals Wind damage to target) and its special attack is Destruction Roar (175 power, 30 SP, deals Wind damage to target with a low chance of raising its PHYS ATK and SP ATK one rank). Its Passive Skill is Powerful Legs (Increases SPD one rank). Diatrymon's evolutions differ depending on whether it is the Partner Diatrymon or a Free Diatrymon:

Partner Diatrymon evolves from Falcomon and can evolve into Yatagaramon, Valdurmon and Zhuqiaomon. All of these are unlocked by clearing specific events.
Free Diatrymon evolves from Piyomon and can evolve into Yatagaramon and Garudamon by using Perfect Enlightenment Slabs.
