Francisco X. Stork was born in Mexico. He moved to El Paso Texas with his adoptive father and mother when he was nine. He attended Spring Hill College, Harvard University and Columbia Law School. He worked as an attorney for thirty-three years before retiring in 2015. He is married and has two grown children and four beautiful grandkids. He loves to discover new books and authors. His favorite books are those where the author's soul touches his. He does not read reviews to his books so you should feel free to write whatever you want. Also, he is genuinely interested in learning about books and life from his friends on this site. He would love it if you find his books worthy to be read, but that's not why he wants to be your friend.

I've never been able to write a book in less than two years. One year of writing and another of revising. The Memory of Light, the book that will be published in January 2016 took four years. The book is about a young girl recovering from a suicide attempt and depression and it was very important to get the right tone - both realistic and hopeful. The first two drafts were not there yet. So I started again. It's really important to write a book that you hope will last forever. The time needed to do this is not important. I try to write a couple of hours every day, but I don't feel bad if it doesn't happen. I also give myself a lot of time to imagine and to think and during that time it often looks as if I'm just goofing off. Actually, that's when the best work takes place.(less)

Humility, Inspiration and Mental Health

(from a talk at Aquinas College on September 26, 2024)

Humility has in modern times acquired a negative connotation. Like meekness, humility smells of a lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, a cowardice even. But the humility that comes from the inspired clarity of ourselves is one that considers a proper measure of both our talents and our limitations, our strengths and our deficiencies. Humil
