“MAYA BANKS…I’M READY FOR THE NEXT RIDE NOW!” SAID USA TODAY. AND NOW, MAYA BANKS IS READY TO DELIVER. FROM THE “MUST-READ AUTHOR” (ROMANCE JUNKIES) OF LETTING GO AND GIVING IN—THE NEW NOVEL IN HER SURRENDER TRILOGY.
In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her new trilogy, there’s only one thing left to do: cross them. And for a married couple taking steps to renew their marriage, the consequences of one single moment of inattention may come at a price the husband never expects…
Chessy and Tate have been married for several years. In the beginning, their relationship was everything she wanted. Passionate. All-consuming. She offered her submission freely and Tate cherished her gift with a tenderness that made her feel safe. Content. Wanted. Loved beyond all measure. But as the years have gone by, Tate has become more immersed in making his business a success, and Chessy has taken a back seat to his business obligations. Growing unhappy with the status of their once blissful marriage, Chessy knows that something has to give, or they stand to lose it all.
Tate loves his wife. Has always loved her. Providing for her has always been his number-one priority. But lately she’s seemed unhappy, and he’s worried. Worried enough that he arranges for a night together that he hopes will reignite the fire that once burned like an inferno between them.
But a business call at the wrong time threatens everything. Chessy’s safety, his concentration, his wife’s faith in him as her husband—a man sworn to love and protect her above all else. Gutted with the realization that he’s going to lose her—has already lost her—he readies for the fight of his life. Whatever it takes, he’ll get her back, show her that nothing is more important than her love. And that if she’ll allow him to prove himself one more time, he’ll take it all. Everything. But he’ll give back far more: Himself. His undying love.
Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.
For the past 3 years, Maya Banks has been my favorite author, but I think I need to admit I'm done and stay away from her books, though it's so hard.
I KNEW I shouldn't have read this book but I, 1 ~ I hate not finishing up trilogies & 2 ~ hate not reading a MB book.
I know it's personal preference on this, completely. The people are still good, the sex is still hot, but this storyline was HORRIBLE as I knew it would be, yet I didn't stay away like I should have.
I have SOOOOOOOOO much I could say about the book, but I'm too pissed off. It all boils down to one thing ~ no D/s relationship would go a supposed TWO YEARS without communication. If it did, it's not a D/s relationship, it's not anything at all. It's horrible to create drama of this kind just for a story and I'm OVER it in BDSM books. This isn't a new couple establishing trust, this is a long time married couple who all of the sudden have issues. No. Then of course, you they get their HEA. I would have been more impressed if there was NOT an HEA, and she divorced him, like she should have.
Warning: trigger. This is about a married couple who is into sub/ dom relationship and enjoy kinky sex BDSM also in public and in clubs with other partners (consensual) I didn’t enjoy it at all because it’s not a thing I understand. I mean, I know there’s this kind of relationships and it’s ok if both agree and are happy with the arrangement but I’m so not into it that I feel disconnected from the story. So if you don’t like this kind of book you’d better not read it. The story would be good in itself, this married couple is happy because he’s a dom and she’s his sub and they are so in love with each other, lately the hero is always busy with his job ( he’s very ambitious) and his wife feels neglected. In one particular evening when they have a date he’s very late and when eventually she, tired of waiting for him, is going out of the restaurant, she sees him at the bar with a woman. She’s angry and hurt, but he explains ow is a very important client who will bring much money to his business. He’s trying to win her trust. The heroine tells her husband he’s not the same and she misses his attentions. In a sub dom relationship the dom takes care of his sub in obvious kinky ways and I laughed so much because he tries to be a better husband spanking his wife and forcing her to kneel for hours so she’s so happy that he takes care of her. Lol! No sorry I just can’t. Just when the hero is redeeming himself with a grand gesture he commits an unforgivable sin. He organizes a night at the kinky club with his wife where she’s used and beaten by another man under the instructions of the hero. The heroine is thrilled! Dumb me that I still think that my perfect night out with hubby dear involves dinner in vip restaurant, flowers and if he wants to beat it all, a jewel too! Yes yes sorry, Im so quaint! And I lack fantasy! The heroine instead is so happy she has to walk naked among strangers while her husband takes her on a leash and tells a strange man to beat her and sodomize her! Wow! Whatever. Each one their own. (I still take the dinner and jewel) But hints don’t go well because the hero receives a call from his ow client and leaves his wife to this stranger who’s a sadist and beats her a lil too hard. Ops… I didn’t know but the hero broke the capital rule of sub dom. The dom has to take care of his sub, and he didn’t. So wife is now feeling she can’t trust his dom any more and leaves him for good. The hero is shattered: he understands that his wife is more important than everything and he changes his lifestyle and his job to be the man his wife deserves. And this, even if I don’t understand such a relationship, was really cute. Because, no matter how weird those two people are and how kinky they like their sex, they really love one another and the hero loves his wife more than anything else. About cheating. They like their sex very kinky but they agree and they share everything. Emotionally they are an exclusive couple but physically they enjoy this club where peculiar things happens. So if you like exclusivity this book may not be for you. I’m not rating this one because it would be unfair since I found it very far from what I like in a romance, but it was an interesting experience into bdsm world. I found the angsty part more exhilarating than angsty because come on, if you go to a bdsm club and ask a strange man to beat you and to sodomize you and then it turns out he’s a sadist well, I’m not saying that you deserve it but man, it’s something of a professional risk no? Jeez I’m confused. Oh and from my professional pov these things are accepted if both agree. Some psychologists think they are perversions but I’m not sure they have to be treated as disorders if they don’t harm mentally and physically. It’s something of a tricky subject. Maya banks is a very talented writer that writes many different types of stories, some of her hp and her historical are really good and passionate, and definitely I prefer those to this one. If you want you can read this one with an open mind.
This book massively improves if you only read a few sentences each page. As soon as the corny schmaltzy dialogue starts, just cross your eyes to blur out the “my girls” and “my domination” or any of the other cringy stuff. I thought it was worth it to get to the big drama scene and the resulting angst. I’m glad Chessy left his dumb ass and made the H beg. I’m not sure I would have been so forgiving. 🤷🏼♀️
This H is one of those guys who only workout their upper bodies. All swole up top with little puny toothpick legs. 😅 He does just enough to look like a “Dominant”, but it’s all just cheesy and fake and eyerolly. I will steer clear of this author’s BDSM books from now on. 😵💫😬 Not my flavor.
2 stars
⚠️SAFETY SQUAD SPOILERS⚠️
- no cheating - the H does share the h at a sex club - OW drama - the H has a beautiful rich client that he’s always dropping the h to talk to. It’s not romantic, but it causes some angst - no OM drama - the h is assaulted by OP during a visit to the sex club - no dubcon by the H - bondage - loads of BDSM talk but the actually BDSM scenes are mild - no discussion of sexual past - they are married when book begins - no condoms

01/11/2022 DNF@30% - waaaaaaay too much emphasis on their formal Dom/sub relationship. It was cheesy. I stopped reading when she laid out his tools for him to use on her for their anniversary. Just too corny and boring. He already groveled. Is the next 70% just a bunch of hard core BDSM??
“Dominate”, or a derivative of the word is used 73 times in this 300 page book.
“submit”, or a derivative of the word is used 40 times in this 300 page book.
I'm so torn on this story. I usually adore Maya Banks. I read the sample of this story and I was immediately sucked into it, so I went ahead and DL'd it. To be fair, I totally skipped the first two books in this series, so that's on me, but I didn't realize this was a BDSM themed story going in. Nothing wrong with a BDSM story, but this story felt confused, like it couldn't decide if it wanted to just be an angstly romance or a BDSM story, and every once in a while MB would remember it was supposed to have BDSM in it and she'd sprinkle little sayings about Tate being dominant. It didn't feel real. Chessy's heartbreak at being mostly ignored by her husband for two years while he steadily climbed the ranks of his business felt very genuine and had some fantastic angst. But then the story turned great again. The break up of that unfolds from this scene created some spectacular angst. I really dug the heartbreak that both Chessy and Tate went through after she left him and was kicking around getting divorce. Chessy's friends and their "dominant" men supported Chessy in a wonderful way while she was licking her wounds. But the men (trying to be badass talking smack about Tate) sounded like women talking. Dash's and Jensen's dialogue distracted a lot from this awesome angstiness.
This was a tough one. I really loved some parts of it and I really loathed other parts. So bummed that this wasn't a total winner coming from Maya Banks.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This is an unfortunate one. The story was going along well enough for the first 75% or so, but then the author has the hero do something so awful that even the other characters in the story say it’s utterly unforgiveable. She created a scenario where I just couldn’t see their relationship EVER recovering, so the HEA just wasn’t believable and it made me pretty much hate everyone involved.
How do you forgive the man you have loved for so long when he does the unforgiveable? Not only has be broken your emotional trust but your physical well being? I have been intrigued with Tate and Chessy since book one in the Surrender Trilogy. We are shown the good and bad from many sides and from the point of view of their friends. To say this book took me by surprise is an understatement. I really didn’t expect the level of neglect Tate would take things.
I cried for Chessy. To have a relationship like theirs and to see it wither away was just so sad. But, like Chessy, the anger and fear from his neglect made it almost impossible to forgive. To be honest, if I was in her shoes, forgiveness may not have come at all.
Have no fear Tate is out for redemption and he is out to rectify the damage his carelessness has brought to their marriage. It’s a revelation and a review of longing and desires and deciding which ones matter most.
One of the BEST parts of Taking It All was the updates and change of POV’s with all our past cast of characters! Seeing them in their “now” and being a part of Chessy and Tate’s now was a beautiful addition to the last book in the trilogy. But hey, it’s Maya Banks. It’s what she does and she does it well!
Taking It All is an emotional ending to a wonderful little series. T~
I can’t go on like this, and I’m feeling like a bad fan, but I really can’t do this anymore. I don’t care if I read a novel by an unknown author and don’t like it. It’s okay, because I try them out, they aren’t mine and everything is fine. But what do you do when one of your favourite authors, one of your auto-buy-authors, where you always got that excited feeling when reading a story of hers, becomes someone entirely different?
Maybe it’s because she writes many books and every few months a new work is published. Maybe it’s because she has lost her touch and some of her creativity. Either way, whatever reason there is, I’m not willing to continue reading books where the name Maya Banks is stamped on and the content is so bad. I hate saying it, but this here is bad writing, a bad storyline, a bad and inappropriate pace, a bad everything.
I went into this novel with the last hope I had. The last of Maya Banks’ KGI-series is downright cheesy and overdone, and also this series here and the one before it are disappointments. And although I knew that, I was kind of excited for Chessy and Tate’s story. I’m a goner for married couples, so the summary of this one sounded more than appealing. And even though the last novels I read by Banks weren’t enjoyable at all, I still thought that maybe this one would do a better job.
The result? Well..
My hopes are crushed, not just ‘deleted’. It’s not fun anymore to make your way through repetitive phrases, endless descriptions, no action and cheesy, over-the-top unrealistic dialogues. Chessy and Tate as the Main Characters were so flat, there’s no more flat possible. Their emotions were too much, too fast, too far from real life; I wasn’t able to sympathize with either of them.
I still can’t believe that Chessy let her relationship flow in a non-existent sphere, saying absolutely nothing the whole time. I can’t imagine a wife doing happy faces, and everyone apart from her husband sees through it. It’s not that I can’t believe such relationships exist, but the author should write the story in such a way that I can believe it, that I think that this could be.
And Tate? I can live with the fact that he was blind to his wife’s unhappiness, but that unables him to be a worthy hero in my eyes. And the way, when Chessy talked about it for the first time, he went like: “ooooh, yes, now I can see the hints, ahhhhh!”. Please. Just… please.
I don’t know what to add to my complaints, and I can imagine that for those who can’t see the change in Maya Banks this will come across as overly harsh and unfair, but it’s that way for me. I don’t want to leave the Maya-Banks-fandom, but I have to take a break and hope that she will do better again and return to her former self.
Taking It All is the final book in the Surrender trilogy, and this is the book that I have been mostly anticipating the most out of them all. This couple and their struggles is teased about in the previous two books and this is where we find everything come out in the open and boy this book was one fire hot one and I loved the crazy journey of it all and the beautiful redemption that comes when two people love each other and misunderstanding and mistakes occur. Its truly the prime example that no marriage is perfect and that sometimes you will stumble and fall and showcases that love can be enough if you are willing to fight for it.
Taking It All is a story that broke my heart into pieces and slowly put it back together. Its a journey of two people: Chessy and Tate. They have been married for years, but the magic that was in their marriage in the beginning if fazing out, and Chessy has been torn apart for a couple years over feeling like she has been losing her husband. She doesn't know what is truly happening or even if he even loves her anymore or if there is a another woman in his life. But when their anniversary goes completely wrong, Tate realizes how he has wronged his wife, the woman he loves more than life, and that his priorities must change. But even though he makes changes, there will be a turning point where he might lose it all....
Taking It All is such a beautiful story, and my heart ached for both Tate and Chessy. But most especially Chessy. We have seen her heartache over the past two books and how much she loves her husband and just wants the truth to be revealed. But their story will become so much more complex than that. And it also shows a scene that should NEVER ever happen in the BDSM world. And the importance of attentiveness and connection to each other as a Dom and Sub and how vital those moments. I love seeing the importance of this be such an important part of this story. I feel like every time I read a BDSM by Maya Banks, she shows the true reality of it and what a beautiful connection it is. She really showcases their relationship so well and I was on board completely. Loved seeing the redemption and value of open communication, and seeing Tate and Chessy find their way back together.
This was the story I was waiting for since the first book in the trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book, Letting Go, with Joss and Dash and it did an excellent job of introducing the characters for the next two books. I wanted book two to be Chessy’s and Tate’s story because their situation was so compelling. It wasn’t obviously, but Giving In, Kylie’s and Jensen’s story was excellent and I learned more about Chessy and Tate in it. Finally, with Taking It All, I get their story.
And I didn’t like it.
Okay, I liked it, but it wasn’t the story I hoped for. I thought some of the dialogue was stilted and didn’t flow like Maya Bank’s normal writing. The scene for the anniversary dinner could almost have been lifted from another book by Banks, Stay With Me, which by the way is an excellent book. There were differences of course, but the basis was still the same.
I had a really hard time liking or believing in Tate. Even after he realized he was losing Chessy, he still was too wrapped up in his business. The scene where her life was threatened went too far. I can’t say much without spoilers, but there were other people who would have intervened to help her sooner than they did.
Even after all that, the story was satisfying. Not only did I get to see how things worked out between Chessy and Tate, but I got to see the development of the relationships between Joss and Dash and Kylie and Jensen. I feel like I have read one long book rather than three individual ones. Everything flowed together so well.
Read this book, but only if you have read the first two of the trilogy. They really do make a great story and you will like how everything works out for the three couples.
This book was just not for me. The hero constantly talks to and treats the heroine like a 2 year old child. Repeating himself and their conversations go around and around. Aside from the fact that it moves extremely slow, not even the sex scenes were able to interest me enough about either one of the main characters.
Maya Banks did it again! Taking It All is a BRILLANTLY written story that touched my heart and soul throughout the entire read.
This is the third installment of The Surrender series, and is Chessy and Tate’s story, which I have been dying to read since I first met them in book 1, Letting Go. I have to say that Taking It All was SO much more than I was hoping for.
This story is VERY emotional and filled with angst. My heart broke so many times for Chessy during this read. But, it also broke for Tate too, even though he made some catastrophic mistakes along the way. I was completely taken in with this story and the characters; I found it EXTREMELY hard to put the book down.
One thing I LOVED SO MUCH about this book was the fact that ALL the main characters from the two previous books played a HUGE part in this book too. I was really happy to get updates on how their relationships were going, but more importantly how they were there for Chessy when she needed them the most. It was very touching reading how they ran to Chessy in her time of need and how they were so tender and kind, never telling her what to do, but always offering their support.
If you have read any of Maya Banks books, you know that she is the QUEEN OF STEAM! Her sex/love scenes are VERY PASSIONATE, but she goes beyond that and adds the intimacy that takes place after the loving is done. Because of this, the scenes are full and completed to the end. I really wish more authors would add this step, instead of having the couple pull the covers up, and roll over when all is said and done. For me, it makes the read more realistic.
In the end, Maya Banks gave us an epilogue that was the MOST PERFECT ending to this FANTASTIC trilogy. It wrapped EVERYONE and EVERYTHING up so WONDERFULLY, that when I finished reading it, I fondled the book lovingly, sighed, and wiped the tears of joy from my eyes.
Special note: This series NEEDS to be read in order to fully understand what is taking place. Book 1, Letting Go Book 2, Giving In Book 3, Taking It All
This book was TERRIBLE. I would give it no stars if that waa a rating available. I am not a huge MB fan to begin with, Ive only read a couple of her newer books (none of them really wowed me, but I try to give new authors a couple shots), but this one? Wow. Just..wow. Not only was the writing awful (after the third "flayed his heart open" in less than 15 pages - I knew I wouldn't like the book - but the main characters? Tate is a complete and total asshole, and Chessy is a total doormat. In the very first scene I knew I wouldn't like her - when she admitted to her friends about her problems etc. What a weak willed character. Give me a female lead with some friggin SPINE. And Tate at the bar with a female client on the night of his anniversary dinner? That's not a "hero" character, he's not "flawed", that, is just a plain old JACKASS.
Added to that there should have been a disclaimer for this book. Period. I am no stranger to sex scenes in books, but this one should have had some sort of warning. I actually had to skip over the scene that should have had the warning. I had no desire to read about anal rape.
After the anal rape - because that is what it was, and what should have had a disclaimer - the book lost any hope it had. Tate's actions were 100% unforgivable in my opinion. And the progression of the rest of the book after that point was rushed, and to be frank, stupid. No one in their right mind would go back to a husband who let that happen, and the pregnancy bit? Lame. Did any one else call it from the start? And that the baby was used to get them back together? Seriously? That is such weak writing.
To sum up: Book should have had a disclaimer. The characters were weak, the dialogue was vacant, the "plot" was horrible - and had terrible progression. The resolution was a joke. Oh and the ending? BORING and too perfect. "Oh everyone had babies/got married and tada! No one remembers the horrible horrible shit that happened."
All this book has done for me? Solidified my opinion of this author. I will never purchase or read another MB book again. What a waste of money. I wish I had never bought this book on my e-reader.

The book itself was a nice ending to the trilogy. The scenes were the main conflict took place were kind of rough, and i had to adjust my sense of vulnerability so that it wasn't too conflicted. Tate was a real douchebag that did not learn from his mistakes. In the ending he was a pretty solid character, but i still did not like him that much. Chessy, on the other side, did everyhting right and could've found herself another man in my opinion, but i'm still okay with the ending. Nice trilogy with a little thrill, i did like all books very much. Great storylines! 4/5 stars
"She’d never given orders to Tate. Ever. That was his role. She was the submissive. He was the Dominant. But now she felt the stirrings of a power exchange. She was taking charge and to hell with what he wanted."
This was a reread for me. I read this one years ago, and it stuck with me. Marriage in crisis with a BDSM lifestyle. But they had this severe lack of communication- which I think is what ended up irking me this time around. Aside from the hero too-he also irked me. Like how clueless can you be? But it made for a somewhat entertaining read. With a side of ooey gooey sweetness too. All of which wasn't what I remembered. Overall an okay read, not the love I remembered it to be. But that could just be my tastes changing since then, and that's okay.
Third in the Surrender Trilogy D/s series and revolving around three ladies who have supported each other through so very much. The couple focus is on Chessy and Tate Morgan and proves that actions are stronger than words. Set in Houston.
My Take Jesus, this was so bad. What is it with Banks these days? I don't think I've read one of her more recent stories and been thrilled. I enjoy reading erotica, but this was embarrassing, and no, not because of the sex. Taking It All reads more like one of her first efforts at writing.
I was 80% of the way through the book…yes, 80…before it started to get interesting. As it was Banks padded this out thoroughly (and excessively) with Tate and Chessy yammering over and over and over about their marriage, about Tate's obsession with work. Stop, I get it already!
Yeah, I can hear ya now. Why would I bother reading this far when I so desperately wanted to slide it onto the DNF shelf? I've always thought Banks was a good writer… and 'cause I was hoping to get to the erotic bits, of course.
Sad, isn't it? Eighty percent of the story was oh, woe with some nice sidebars when Chessy met up with her friends. Banks was consistent in having her friends yammer on and on about the same issues over and over and over as well. In case you didn't pick up on it, that was sarcasm. I did like the relationships and support she got from her friends and their significant others. It's how friends, best friends, should react.
The idea of the story is sweet, and I like that Tate finally gets it. But the manner in which Banks goes about it is not her usual style. Instead, it felt as if Banks were in a hurry to get through this story and didn't want to take the time to make it realistic. That scene at The House where Tate actually has his phone on, and he answers it is simply not believable. Who the heck takes a phone into a scene like Tate has set up? If he's so into his wife and the surprise he's set up for her, I'd be surprised if he even heard the damn phone. It was too convenient a way for Banks to set up that last conflict. Too easy. And the whole thing was so frickin' melodramatic. Gag.
The way it ended with Chessy's decision was too quick. Heck, that second escape was too much. Sure, I can see leaving him, but she's so determined to end it all. Right now. Yeah, I'd probably have reacted the same way, but I'm not Chessy. It didn't fit her character. And, yeah, I was proud of her for making a decision…hypocrisy, thy name is Kathy…*eye roll*…
The twist on the characters with the man being the one in need of salvation was nice, but I didn't buy Tate's need to be financially able to support Chessy and any future children. He's got enough money to buy a beautiful home right off the bat and buy beautiful jewels for Chessy. That just does not translate into someone needing financial security.
A lot of tell with some show and a sprinkling of info dumps.
You might enjoy this if you like a Dominant/submissive lifestyle with a Dominant deciding everything for you. And if you're not picky about wanting good writing. If this doesn't appeal to you, don't bother. Don't even bother with getting it from the library, as you'll be wasting valuable reading time. I rarely "do not finish", but damn, I was SO tempted. If it hadn't been a Maya Banks story, I probably would have DNFd it.
The Story Chessy Morgan revels in being the submissive to Tate's Dominant. But she's less than happy with his devotion to his two-year-old business.
It takes a disastrous wedding anniversary dinner to help Chessy decide that she's done taking second place.
The Characters Chessy Morgan is a bright and once-happy housewife who loves that her husband, Tate, dominates her. If only he still would.
Kylie Breckenridge is with Jensen. Joss Corbin is pregnant and married to Dash, her late husband's best friend. (I'm assuming that he's her late husband's best friend since the husband died, although Banks does mention a couple of sentences later that he's her former husband's best friend, implying that Carson is still alive.) Both ladies are BFFs with Chessy, and their husbands have taken Chessy to their hearts as well.
The House is a club for individuals into a bit of kink. Damon Roche owns and runs it (Sweet Persuasion (Sweet, 2)); there is a mention of Serena and their child. James is the other Dominant Tate picks out. Tabitha Markham is the whiny heiress.
The Cover and Title The cover is beautiful and well reflects the concept of what Banks was trying to do. It's soft lavenders and oranges with close-ups of daisies in profile, for it's a soft life Chessy has and we're looking beneath its surface.
The title is what Chessy does about her future, she's Taking It All.
This thrilling conclusion to Maya Banks’ Surrender Trilogy is sure to take your breath away!
All Chessy wants is her husband back. Her lover. Her Dominant. But for the past two years, he’s devoted more and more of his time into his business and less and less into their relationship. Chessy just wants to have the passion, the desire, and most of all the security that comes from their marriage. As their anniversary approaches, Chessy knows it’s now or never so she finally tells Tate how she feels. Devastated that he’s let it get this far, Tate promises to once again make her a priority. To show her how much he means to her, Tate showers her with love, affection, and gifts. He even plans a night to remember at The House, a dominance club they used to visit frequently. But when a client’s call comes in the middle of their special night, Tate foolishly takes the call and puts not only Chessy’s life in danger, but her security, her trust, and her love. Vowing to win Chessy back once and for all, Tate decides to make some changes that are sure to show her how much she really means. But is it too little too late or will Chessy find it in her heart to forgive Tate and allow him to once again hold the key to her heart?
I loved this book, but after reading about Chessy and Tate in the previous two novels, I had no doubts that I would. From heated arguments to passionate love scenes, this book will take you through every emotion imaginable. The book is mostly written from Chessy’s point of view but does have some sections/chapters that are written from Tate’s. While I did feel for Tate and his obliviousness to the situation he was creating at home, I mostly wanted to slap him for being so darn stupid! I simply adore Chessy. She’s radiant, beautiful, and most of all…..forgiving. I thought every part of her story was very realistic. The self-doubt, anger, depression, and confusion are all things that someone who was going through a really rough patch in their relationship would experience. I also really enjoyed how much the storyline included characters from the previous novels in the series, Joss and Dash, Kylie and Jenson. It’s always an added bonus to me when you get to read about what’s happening with those characters now, even though it’s not “their” book. I thought that Ms. Banks did a superb job with not only Chessy and Tate’s story, but also with closing out this series in general. A very well written, highly entertaining novel by Maya Banks. Don’t miss this novel, I promise….You will regret it! Received for an honest review.
I must start this review, if you can call it that, better said a ranting, that i am a MASSIVE fan of MB, but this was the worst book of her i ever read and the worse book i read lately!!!
First of all i am not a big fan of BDSM but i can stomach some of hers but this was an utterly fucking disaster from all points of view.
1.First of all i don't know many things about BDSM but leaving your sub like Tate left Chessy getting beaten and raped at the hands of another man it's totally unaccepted. If i wanted to read about rape and beating i will go and fucking read that kind of story online for free not pay over £3 for it and getting annoyed. I thought BDSM is all about looking after your woman and her needs, but maybe i am wrong.
2.Another thing i didn't liked about this book was, that i couldn't feel no sparks or chemistry between Tate and Chessy or even a glitch of connection that connects them as a couple. NADA DE NADA. To me they didn't made no sense what so ever.
3.Another point i utterly dislike in all books it's too be repetitive, and i noticed that A LOT lately at MB, but fuck me this one was OTT. I got fed up of re reading and re reading the same thing on and on and again and again. To be honest, at some point i got fed up with the book in general and i end up skipping thru it till the end.
This book was a complete fucking disaster for me and i never thought i am gone end up thinking like that about a book of MB but here we go. This book just made me dislike BDSM even more that i did till now and i am never gone try it NEVER AGAIN.
The only good thing about this book was that it brought thru Amazon and has gone back for refund. It's my first time i do this kind of thing but so happy that it's possible.
And here comes the million dollar question. Will i recommend this book???
Absolutely loved parts, absolutely hated other and barely liked some other parts.
Chessy and Tate never really interested me so I was reluctant to read this, but I did want to finish the trilogy.
This book was definitely deeper then the rest. And parts are almost too realistic. We all know at least one person that works way to much and doesn't have a clue what is really going on.
The beginning was soooo boring, I struggled to continue. But then when the bottom drops out, that was a serious WTF moment. BDSM clearly involves consent. But what this guy was doing was not what was agreed upon. And at the perfectly imperfect moment Tate answers a call and Chessy almost gets raped!!
We all make mistakes and it's not my right to deem if Chessy should have forgiven Tate so I will just leave it at that.
I've been waiting for Chessy's story since forever and finally I got it! I knew this book will be dramatic and I right. It's super dramatic.
For a moment I want to slap Tate for 'neglecting' Chessy, but then again he works really hard to make a good living and it's for Chessy's life eventually. There are some moments where I really want to slap Chessy too because she's so self-pitying. I don't like it. And I wish Tate didn't really self-blaming too, I mean, he's feeling guilty since the very start of the book and his guilt gets bigger and bigger while the story goes. I think it's a bit boring.
But overall this book is definitely my favorite. Finally these girls got their own happy ending. :)
And amazing end to this trilogy! I really enjoyed this series and would highly recommend it, especially to anyone who has never read BDSM before.
Chessy and Tate have always been the strong, married couple that all of their friend strive to emulate. They are loving and passionate. But lately things have been off. Tate is not only starting to neglect Chessy, but he is falling short with his duties as her dominate partner.
Chessy fears the worse and has no way of confronting Tate. Until one night, while Tate was busy yet again with his work, he does the unthinkable, causing Chessy to doubt if Tate was ever there for her at all.
This book definitely takes you on a ride. Fast paced and full of angst yet redemption and a definite HEA. I loved this book and this entire series!
Honestly took a long break from reading because I felt guilty of being bored of a book & not finishing.... Then I tried this one. 1) not realizing it's book 3 of a trilogy 2) not realizing it's an erotic novel but realizing that you don't necessarily need the full storyline in this trilogy & being open to reading anything I figured why not. Didn't even get 100 pages in & I'm like nope. The whole "my girl" thing, biggest cringe. As well as all his empty words throughout. Don't like where this is going at all. Skimmed the rest & decided yeah that's enough for me 😆 After this gem I won't feel guilty about trying books & not liking them. Life is short, keep reading ☺️

Ultimo livro desta trilogia!
Anyone who has read the previous books knows that Chassy is unhappy in her marriage to Tate. And in this book she finally tries something and confronts Tate, in a wish to save the marriage.
It's impossible to read this book and not think about psychology, Chassy is unhappy in her marriage because her husband works all the time and doesn't spend time with her. She needs quality time with him, and without it she doesn't feel loved. Tate thinks he's just being it and giving her everything is enough, that he doesn't even realize she doesn't feel loved.
After Chassy's confrontation, Tate soon gets into saving marriage mode and proving he loves her, spending time with her, and doing things together like before. But changing like that overnight is hard and old habits die hard, and a flicker of his could ruin everything.
This book was what held me the most, a lot happens with the couple, several bombs thrown at us.
I sincerely wish the book wasn't a romance, where the young lady always forgives the male who does terrible shit (seriously, Tate deserved to die alone). This story of someone who loves forgives doesn't stick to me, especially something like Tate did. For the perfect ending would be a divorce, chassy finding a more handsome and hot male, who would never hurt her. And Tate, he would end up alone, sad and broke.
So so glad that tate got his head out of his ass! I really thought chessy would leave him for good after what he did to her! So happy with how it all turned out. I love these happy endings. They are the best
