For bear shifter Jamie, the army was easy compared to taking on the duties of a daddy bear to two orphaned children. When his best friend dies in a car crash, Jamie is solely responsible for Jasper and Juliet.

When he meets his mate, in the form of delectable Dani Darling, he is scared he will be torn between his love and duty toward the children, and his love and need for his mate.

Add in the minefield of being a single dad at the school gates, and he’s in for a bumpy ride.

Teacher Dani Darling has moved to Bear Creek for a fresh start. She’s known heartbreak and loss, and wants this fresh beginning to be uncomplicated, so she sets herself a rule - NO dating parents, or relatives, of the children in her first-grade class.

But she had not factored in Jamie, and the way he makes her feel.

Can she put her heartbreak behind her, and will Jamie still want her when her secret is revealed?

Find out in Daddy Bear.

After couple of disappointing read, this one was indeed refreshing!
3.5 stars, rounded up.
Hero was extremely caring.
Heroine was surprisingly strong and open minded.
The wannabe OW was a piece of work!
This hero actually wanted to date the heroine rather than dish out the term mate.
They did court just like normal couples before jumping on to bed.
He did see the main issue that he couldn't just expect someone to want to to accept him with two kids on his tow, it IS unfair.
She has explained her issue very calmly, not hysterically, trying to figure out how to move forward.
She was ver receptive of his responsibility towards the kids, she would never want him to choose between them and her.
And he was very realistic and accepting of her issues, he said, if we can't have it, we are blessed with what we have. No BS about, let's hope for the best, or may be we'll get lucky. He didn't let any false hope linger anywhere even for a moment. She's his mate. He wants her. Everything else is secondary.

Jamie the 'nice guy' bear shifter and Dani the new elementary school teacher.
It was nice but kinda boring. I skimmed a lot even though it's pretty short.
Jamie's brother in arms dies with his wife, leaving Jamie as the guardian of their two small cubs. When he gets to town he finds that the new school teacher is his mate. She has a recently suffered a loss and is resistant to starting a romantic relationship. But not so much that it gets annoying.
There's an OW wannabe, but it's a safe story.
Cute and fluffy, I liked the characters, but the story kinda doesn't go anywhere.
Nice epilogue.

I read this only a day ago and I'm struggling to try to remember key points for this review. I guess that really let's you know if this stayed with me or not. I found it hard to connect with the writing and the characters. On top of that, everything was just so forgettable!

The main characters--Jamie and Dani--are great, but we never learn about Dani's life. There are a number of hints at her past, but it is never explained. It felt as though some parts of the story were rushed, i.e. the final conflict, Jamie is arrested for assault, was resolved off-stage in all within a few pages.

I really like the book, good story line, not too complicated, you can see it coming from a mile away, but enjoyable.

A very quick read for me I got really into this namely for the cutness of Julie. I really enjoyed the simply bits of family life.

I'm giving it a 3 though because some things seemed really rushed and their was so much more stuff that it could have gone into. I would read more of these but they would be the book I would go to after reading something more heavy.

Embora o livro seja bem escrito a estória é chata e a cena de sexo (no final) é abrupta, rápida e nada romântica. Vale a pena tentar um outro livro da autora!

TITLE OF BOOK: DADDY BEAR/RETURN TO BEAR CREEK #1
AUTHOR OF BOOK: HARMONY RAINES
DATE READ: MAY 25, 2017
BOOK GENRE: PARANORMAL ROMANCE

GREAT BEGINNING FOR THE RETURN TO BEAR CREEK SERIES!!!! GOTTA LOVE THOSE BEAR SHIFTERS!!!

There is nothing I can say about Harmony Raines that I haven’t already said. She is the Queen of the Bear Shifters. I happen to love Bear Shifters, and I haven’t read one of her books that I did not like. She takes a bear shifter who is in the army and gives him two orphaned children to raise. Then she adds a school teacher who has just moved to Bear Creek to start over with secrets she wants kept to herself. Now she makes the book more interesting when the Bear Shifter meets the school teacher and realizes she is his mate!!! Oh, does the book start to get interesting after that. You can’t put it down once you start reading it. Oh, and you cannot forget the surprise she has added that you don’t see coming!!!!! A book you do not want to miss.

Jamie is a bear shifter who has left the army and the life he knows to raise the two children, Jasper and Juliet of his best friend who was killed in a car crash along with his wife. He knows he is going to have his work cut for him but when he meets the Social Worker Fiona he wonders if he can do this and keep her off his tail. But things seem to pick up when he meets his mate Dani Darling and boy does she set his bear in a tail spin. Now he is torn between the bond to her and the duty to the kids. But that is the least of his problems. He must meet all the mothers at Juliet’s school, not to mention her teacher is none other than his mate Dani Darling!!!

Dani Darling moves to Bear Creek to start over. She needed a fresh start from the heart break and loss she is leaving behind. So, in order to make her transition into this new town and school she tells herself that she will be better off if she doesn’t date anybody related to anything at her new school. That means no dating parents or relatives. Boy does she get a surprise when she meets Jamie and the way he makes her feel. Can she let her rules go and give Jamie a chance? Will Jamie still want her when finds out the secret she is keeping from him? Will Dani still want Jamie when she finds out the secret he is keeping from her?

No Spoilers.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

If you’re in the mood for a simply feels good romance, of the Shifter kind, with no huge drama, some tears, some smiles and a whole lot of love then you have found exactly what you need in Daddy Bear the first story in the new series Return to Bear Creek. If you’ve read Bear Creek or the Bear Bluff series then you may see some familiar faces – but if you haven’t it doesn’t matter for these friendly neighbors are easily part of Daddy Bear with no previous knowledge of them necessary.

Jamie is probably one of the nicest, down to earth Shifters I’ve met in recent books. He’s an honorable man, faced with his own grief yet willing to take on the demanding role of Father (and Mother) to two young children whose world has just imploded with the deaths of their parents. He’s admittedly afraid yet determined to do the best he can for those kids and keep them together as a family. Of course there’s a dragon of a caseworker for child services to insure that he gets it all right, and look down her nose at his efforts at times. But they’re going to make it work, Jamie is totally determined and dedicated to that reality.

When he discovers his mate in Dani, the new school teacher, life just came full circle. Now he has to pick the right time to get closer to Dani because the children have to come first. Their romance is fun, sweet and sexy and completely believable. Of course, there is one troublemaker who tries her best to make mischief for Jamie. But love and friendship beats scheming females any time.

I completely enjoyed Daddy Bear. It’s a fun read with likable people and simply hits that soft spot we all have for a man who steps up to do the right thing. I would highly recommend this one and I’m looking forward to the next story in this series.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

My only complaint is that this book did not go on forever!

I am a new to Harmony Raine's writing. But, I can't resist a paranormal romance involving shifters and fainted mates. Having married an ex- special forces hunk who I believe is a secret bear shifter, I am especially obsessed with stories involving bear shifters finding their fated mate. "Daddy Bear" book one of Harmony Raines' Return to Bear Creek series, checked all those boxes for me.

"Daddy Bear" captured my heart from the very first page. I was disappointed when I got to the end for if it was up to me I would stay in Bear Creek forever. I love the way Harmony Raines depicted the small-town atmosphere of Bear Creek and the sense of community that prevailed. It was easy to relate to. The more I read, the more I began to have a deja vu feeling, as though I remembered my own sojourn in rural communities across the US. The townspeople became my own, equipped with the same gossip hot line and more importantly support only small-town town America provides. It is both annoying and comforting at the same time. Harmony Raines KNOWS small-towns.

Her characters were also fabulous! And as wonderfully crafted her main character's were, her support characters were just as well developed. Hanging out in Bear Creek was like hanging out in any rural community I had ever lived in! I laughed, I cried and ranted and raved as though I was a participant in a scene, not just a reader!

Like I alluded to in the beginning, my only complaint was that it ended too soon. I would live in Bear Creek forever! I am convinced other readers would too!

Needs Proofreading

3.5 Stars - I wanted to rate this higher, but I could not because no one appeared to have edited this story. Jamie and Dani's story was really quite good, but unfortunately there were several times where Jamie would refer to his sister as Juliet and Juliet was one of the children he had guardianship of. Inn addition, it would've been nice to hear Dani's complete past in detail.

Jamie was a bear Shifter who had previously been in the army. His best friend and wife were killed in a car accident and he was now assuming guardianship of their two children. In the process of learning how to be a parent by fire, he meets Miss Darling, the elementary teacher who happens to be his mate. With child services breathing down his neck and wanting to take it slow with his mate things get a little complicated.

Dani is a new elementary school teacher in Bear Creek. She takes notice of one of her students guardian. She vowed when coming to Bear Creek that she would not be involved with a parent. Apparently fate has something different in mind. She also learns about shifters in the process of figuring out her attraction to little Juliet's guardian.

Return To Bear Creek

I was so excited to learn that Harmony Raines was writing more Bear Creek books. I love the Bear Creek and Bear Bluff characters. Daddy Bear did NOT disappoint in any way. The love and passion they feel for their mates and love and loyalty they feel for their families, nothing beats it! Harmony has such a gift for writing, I love all her books but I gotta say her bear shifters are my favorites.

Jaime has selflessly taken on the raising of his deceased best friend's 2 young children, Juliet and Jasper. His sole focus their wellbeing and happiness, with no time to be thinking about his future mate. But fate doesn't care what is going on in his life. She does things her way, on her schedule. Turns out, Dani, his mate, is Juliet's teacher. Dani has her own baggage she is trying to deal with and also has a strict, no dating parents or family members of her students, policy. Will fate succeed in bringing Jaime and Dani together or will a manipulative, she-devil prevent these 2 from finding their HEA?

As much as I liked this book and loved certain parts of it, there was a big chunk left out!

Jamie has left the military to keep his promise to his best friend. He's faced down the military's enemies and stared death in the face. But taking on the job of parenthood is a new role Jamie hasn't trained for.

Dani Darling moved to Bear Creek for a fresh start. She's a teacher and has made a promise to herself to stay away from parents of her students. However, she didn't put into account the possibility of being a mate to one of Bear Creek's residents.

So my biggest issue with this was the whole backstory of Dani was left out! We know all about Jamie and how he came about getting custody of the two kids. However, there's constant mention of Dani losing a baby and the promise she made to herself. But why did she come to do this?

Fate, Truth & Love

Were Bear males are consistently loving, loyal and lusty. In this heartwarming novella Jaime is the epitome of that archetype. He just mustered out of the U.S. Army to return home to Bear Creek and become legal guardian for his best friends orphaned children. He is thoughtful, taking a job rather than use any of Jasper & Juliet's inheritance. He is sincere, when he meets his (nonshifter) fated mate he wants only to make her happy, willingly biding his time so as not to scare her. Ms. Darling is Juliet's first grade teacher. She has just moved to Bear Creek to start over after some painful personal issues. She is loving, patient and has adopted the dog previously owned by the children's family. Sweet but sexy this story truly highlights the importance of family, honesty and love.

What's a soldier in to do

That's the question Jamie asks himself. His best friend, and his mate, died in a car accident leaving Jamie responsible for their two children. So Jamie moves home to Bear Creek.

Dani is a first grade teacher looking for a new start in life, after a heartbreaking miscarriage, and moves to Bear Creek. This is where she learns shifters are real.

Throw in a dog, a money hungry cougar of a womam, the human kind, an a dragon, literally, of a social worker and you have the making of a fantastic plot.

I definitely recommend that you read this book and find out what happens. Do Jamie and Dani get their own happily ever after? I'm not telling.

This sweet short features recently discharged army vet, bear shifter Jamie arriving home to Bear Creek, he’s guardian to his best friend’s newly orphaned children. First grade teacher Dani Darling is trying for a fresh start and has the luck to have adopted the family Labrador that was taken to the pound by the family case worker in charge of the children until Jamie arrives.

As an attractive single male, eager women in town are anxious to link up with him. Little do they know Jamie’s bear has chosen his mate and it’s Dani. But one woman isn’t giving up that easily and does all she can to make trouble for the new couple. It can’t be more complicated or come at a worse time since the family case worker isn’t certain Jamie’s the right guardian for the children.

No substance...

I felt like there's nothing to this story. Everything and everybody was SO accommodating except one person who they obviously needed to add a little friction to the story. Plus the way the characters spoke kinda bugged me. I don't know if it's just where I'm from but nobody uses "I will" this much. She uses those specific 2 words a lot. But she writes "properly" and i know it's grammatically correct but people use contractions most times when they speak unless it's to stress what they're saying. There's nothing really wrong with it I guess, but it doesn't flow easy to me because I know people say "I'll" and "can't" and "shouldn't". That's just me, guys. Maybe the speech doesn't bother you.../shrug.

Love Harmony's Bear Shifter Books

I'm so glad that Harmony decided to write more books featuring the bears of Bear Creek. Daddy Bear is a great start to this new series. Jamie is just what any woman would want in a mate...strong, handsome, honorable and oh so sexy. Dani is the perfect mate and guardian for two orphaned children. Harmony's bear shifter books are always at the top of my must buy list. Even though her books are classified as paranormal romance, her characters seem so real and believable. I always feel happy while reading one of her books. I think anyone who loves romance would love Harmony's bear shifter books. Enjoy!

Always good to come back

I've read and enjoyed all the Bear Creek and Bear Bluff stories, and this one is no exception. A matter couple dies, leaving their two young children in the care of Jamie. He is a soldier, who leaves the service to come back home and take guardianship and raise an infant and a six year old, expecting it to be a difficult transition. It is, the social worker is a real dragon lady, one of the local single parents has her eyes on him like he's prey, but on the plus side, the new first grade teacher turns out to be his mate. To bad she doesn't know about shifters - yet. Fun story with an HEA.

This was my first book by this author and I wasn't let down. It was fast paced and I loved that Fat that Jaime was so caring and did everything he could for his best friends children. Dani was an awesome hero and took things in strides and didn't give up. She had me laughing a lots There was good steam and a good heart warming plot.

My main issue the fact that there was very little info/history, and actual presence of them shifting. When I read a shifter book I expect it to be more then 2 shifts. In the books defense it wasn't a very long book. I do plan to read more from this author in the future. 3/3.5 stars #2OCCJD

Great start to a new series

Dani and Jamie are perfect mates, each dealing with issues. This story has a relaxed pace, vivid characters, and a gentle tone dealing with those issues. There isn't really any action, just relationships. The only real problem near the end is dealt with gently also.

Juliet, Jasper, Bailey and all the other characters are just as well drawn. All in all it was great to return to Bear Creek and I am looking forward to reading the rest. Read at least the Bear Creek series, as well as the Bear Bluff series before you read this one. That would make this story make more sense. Then sit back and prepare to enjoy!

Has adult content
Jamie left the army because his best friend was killed in a car crash and he was to take care of Rich and Mary's two kids. Jamie was sure this was what he wanted to do and it brought him home to Bear Bluff where he wanted to be.
Dani need a new start. Dani still has the heartache of the miscarriage and knowing she may never be able to have children. Dani took a job in Bear Bluff as a teacher and adopted a dog to get that fresh start.
This was a sweet story. I like that the bad "guy" in this was a female. I also was happy there was a dragon in this one too.
Well written and edited with an HEA.

I can only imagine how hard it would be to give up the life and career you love to take responsibility for the children of your best friend.
Jamie is a bear shifter who had to make that choice and adjust his entire life.
The good thing about it is he not only loved the children with everything in him, but also met Dani Darling, his new daughter's teacher and his fated mate!
He still had to deal with the social worker, Fiona, and the "man-eater," Wilma!
Tears, laughter, suspense, and romance abound. Another great start to a new Bear Creek series!

The book revolves around bear shifter Jamie and his descent into parenthood. While juggling his new responsibilities, adapting to life out of the military, and dodging a gold-digging leech, he comes across his mate who also happens to be one of his charges' teachers.

The book was okay. Unfortunately I felt the book fell into the "rushed through" category versus fast-paced. Very unfortunate as the story had a solid foundation, lots of potential and the same could be said for the characters.

to be fair this book played out a little differently than I thought it would from the beginning. but it was not a disappointment at all.the way Jamie takes in the kids off his best friend astounds me and then for Dani to drop in out of nowhere and is perfect to make them in to a family, even after her own heartbreak.

will definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a short story but must say it's slightly emotional so keep that in mind. over all fantastic read and well written storyline.

Antagonist puts the hero between a big rock and a very hard place (loses children's inheritance or goes to jail and loses it all) with false rape accusations. When it gets cleared up the she gets away with no punishment not even a slap on the wrist. Equality should go both ways. Unimpressive resolution with the antagonist and pretty damn horrible if you are a male reading this like I am.

The hero/heroine are fantastic and the romance is superb. Story otherwise is pretty much perfect for 130 pages. 4 1/2 stars otherwise 5 if not for above.
