After couple of disappointing read, this one was indeed refreshing!
3.5 stars, rounded up.
Hero was extremely caring.
Heroine was surprisingly strong and open minded.
The wannabe OW was a piece of work!
This hero actually wanted to date the heroine rather than dish out the term mate.
They did court just like normal couples before jumping on to bed.
He did see the main issue that he couldn't just expect someone to want to to accept him with two kids on his tow, it IS unfair.
She has explained her issue very calmly, not hysterically, trying to figure out how to move forward.
She was ver receptive of his responsibility towards the kids, she would never want him to choose between them and her.
And he was very realistic and accepting of her issues, he said, if we can't have it, we are blessed with what we have. No BS about, let's hope for the best, or may be we'll get lucky. He didn't let any false hope linger anywhere even for a moment. She's his mate. He wants her. Everything else is secondary.

The bear was a giant teddy bear with bow on top embracing fatherhood out of blue and being a single father like a boss. And the man was an ex-army who could appreciate logic in life, which is a compliment. And no, being in the army didn't make him an emotionally void jackass! He was an honourable respectful man, even towards the evil OW wannabe. No slut shaming. He was like in his head "please feel free to satisfy your needs, no judgement whatsoever, just not with ME!"
