Z.A. Maxfield
“Ken brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. I'd been paying so much attention to Ken, I didn't know what happened during the game. I don't think anyone cared too much what the outcome was after Ken's at bat.

"Do you know who won?" I asked Cooper, who automatically translated into sign language for Shawn.

Shawn laughed his odd laugh and signed something back. He looked at Ken, who had an arm wrapped possessively around my waist.

Cooper grinned. "Shawn says it looks like you did, Jordie.”

“WARNING:

Before commencing any program of sustained physical inactivity, consult your physician. Sedentary living doubles the likelihood of stroke and coronary artery disease, making it as risky as smoking, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. If unaccustomed to sitting for extended periods, you may experience weak muscles, low bone density, high cholesterol, hyperglycaemia, a rapid resting heart rate, mental decline, mood disorders, and obesity. Start slowly and increase inactivity gradually. If you experience drowsiness, difficulty in concentration, or craving for stimulation, discontinue inactivity immediately.:-)”

Being injured is..
So prevent injuries!”

“...do you want to do the exercises here where you can sit in the kitchen chair, or in the living room so you can slump on the couch after?"
"Oh, living room, definitely. Closer to the scotch too," David muttered as he stood and walked in that direction, ignoring the small smile he'd seen on Trace's face.
He collapsed on the couch, telling himself to grow up. Being a big baby would annoy Trace, who'd leave, and where would that leave him and his barely healed shoulder? He rubbed at his eyes and told himself he needed to suck it up.
"Sling off, please," Trace said as he walked in with the piece of paper the therapist had given David to take home. Taking a deep breath and steeling himself, he slid on his glasses and started studying the diagrams. "This shouldn't be too bad."
"You're not the one with the broken shoulder."
Trace didn't respond to the jibe as he sat down next to David.
"All right. First exercise. You're going to hold your arm, elbow bent at ninety degrees, and lift it up and out, away from your body."
David watched as Trace copied the movement drawn on the sheeet, and he had to stifle a laugh.
"What?" Trace glanced up at him.
"You look like a chicken," David snickered.
"Well, I am the cock of the roost, C'mon, chickadee. Flap that wing," Trace instructed with a wink.”
Rhianne Aile, The One That Got Away

“He was different from every other man she knew. He was capable of loving; he was at once a laughing daredevil and a hard-hitting businessman. But most of all, he needed her. Other patients had needed her, but only as a therapist. Blake needed her, the woman she was, because only her personal strengths had enabled her to help him with her trained skills and knowledge. She couldn’t remember anyone ever needing her before.”
Linda Howard, Come Lie with Me

“Your eyes are like melted gold,” he whispered. “Cat eyes. Do they shine in the dark? A man could get lost in them,” he said, his voice suddenly rough.
---
“You’re the loveliest thing I’ve ever seen,” he murmured. “As exotic as Salome, as graceful as a cat, as simple as the wind… and so damned mysterious. What goes on behind those cat eyes? What are you thinking?”
She couldn’t answer; instead she shook her head blindly as fresh tears made her eyes glitter.”
Linda Howard, Come Lie with Me

“Blake filled her world. The sweaty male scent of him was in her nostrils, the slippery texture of his hot skin under her hands; the unbearably erotic taste of his mouth lay sweetly on her tongue. At some unknown point his kisses had slipped past celebration and become intensely male, demanding, giving, thrilling. Perhaps they’d never been celebration kisses at all, she thought fuzzily.
Suddenly he removed his mouth from hers and buried his face in the curve of her neck. When he spoke his voice was shaky, but husky with an undertone of laughter. “Have you noticed how much time we spend rolling around on the floor?”
Linda Howard, Come Lie with Me

“He sat with his arm still around her, watching her face and smiling as she fumbled with the elegant gold wrapping, her agile fingers suddenly clumsy. She lifted the lid off and stared speechlessly at the simple pendant that lay on satin lining like a cobweb of gold. A dark red heart, chiseled and planed, was attached to the chain.
“That’s a ruby,” she stammered.
“No,” he corrected gently, lifting it from the box and placing it around her neck. “That’s my heart.” The chain was long, and the ruby heart slid down her chest to nestle between her breasts, gleaming with dark fire as it lay against her honeyed skin.
“Wear that forever,” he murmured his eyes on the lush curves that his gift used as a pillow.
“And my heart will always be touching yours.”
Linda Howard, Come Lie with Me

“No!” he roared. “I’ve had enough for today! A little of you goes a long way, lady!”
“Please, call me Dione,” she murmured.
“I don’t want to call you anything! My God, would you just leave me alone!”
“Of course I will, when my job is finished. I can’t let you ruin my record of successful cases, can I?”
Linda Howard, Come Lie with Me

Kathleen Klawitter
“Simple tasks became monumental nightmares. A short trip to vote turned into a long, nerve-wracking experience. The voting booths were conveniently located just around the block from my house. I jumped into the car, and I was suddenly overcome with dizziness when I tried to look left and right. I kept driving, thinking I would get there shortly. But something went wrong. Much time passed, and I had no clue where I was. It was now dark outside, and I was lost. I caught a whiff of ocean water, which was at least a half-hour away from my home. Frightened and confused, I pulled over and cried.”
Kathleen Klawitter, Direct Hit: A Golf Pro's Remarkable Journey back from Traumatic Brain Injury

“One common problem caused by postural faults is forward head position, in which the head is sitting forward of the spine. In this posture, for every inch the head moves forward, the weight of the head on the spine increases by an additional 10 pounds. People whose head is sitting 3 inches forward of their shoulders are now supporting 42 pounds of weight, compared to what is typically 12 pounds in aligned posture. This can occur in both sitting and standing postures. It can pull the spine out of alignment, reduce lung capacity inhibiting complete lung aeration, contribute to a sluggish gastrointestinal system, cause tension headaches, and decrease balance. Most devastating is if forward head posture leads to cervical spine instability, as a result of constant strain on the ligaments which stabilize the neck. A stable cervical spine protects the spinal cord and brainstem. The laxer the ligaments, the stronger the muscles must be support the head and neck.”

“Hyperextension in the lower extremities, such as knee hyper extension shown here (see figure 5), not only puts added strain on the opposing musculature, but it also leads to added stress on numerous joints and muscles throughout the trunk, spine, shoulders, and even all the way to the cervical spine and tempermandibular joints. Knee hyper extension can cause the foot arches to flatten, the tibia rotate inward, the pelvis to shift and rotate forward, and cause abnormal spinal curvature and excessive forward head positioning. This habitual standing posture can result in what is referred to as upper and lower cross body syndrome (see figure 6). These poor postural habits lead to shortening, weakness and inhibition of key core stabilizers resulting in misalignment and pain in joints. And, what happens at our base of support, sitting or standing, affects the positioning of the rest of the body.”

Artem Orel
“Nauli is known for creating a strong blood flow to the organs of the abdominal cavity, causing negative pressure that can have therapeutic effects. In contrast, leg raises achieve the same result of enhancing blood circulation through a different approach: they increase pressure instead.”
