“The end of the world is a strange concept. The world is always ending, and the end is always being averted, by love or foolishness or just plain old dumb luck.”

“Marion: What is all this? What's going on?
Clint: The same thing that's always going on. The end of the world.”

“If everything didn't happen the way it happened this year, then think about it, everything would just be the same. And there's something very wrong with that thought. It wasn't supposed to remain the same, going on and on in an endless hum drum motion, repeating all the old rhythms, living in all the old lies, playing back all the same voices in the mind. It needed to end. Something needed to be over. Something new needs to take its place.”

“Welcome to the apocalypse. Where make-do is a motto and life seems wrong, out-of-place. Where the weak become strong because they have no other choice.”

“The world is changing rapidly, and everyone changes along with the world. Discoveries is now becoming rampant; intellectually, technologically, etc, each having its advantage and disadvantage.”

“After the end of the world, there is a world. Life doesn’t stop. It changes. And it changes me.”

“We didn’t cause the apocalypse…”
“But we were too dumb to see it,” she snaps. “That was our mistake.”

“The apocalypse was supposed to be cliché drama, Godzilla roaming the streets and zombies crawling from graves to devour the living. I guess all of humankind wanted to believe they’d end with a bang instead of unnoticed silence. We all, deep down, want to believe in a future where our historical monuments and literature hold significance. We want our deaths to be important. We want to matter.”

“But after they had prayed they could not eat anything because the sea water had spoiled their food. The Holy One, blessed be He, salted the Leviathan for the end of days when it will be eaten, and the sea has been left full of salt.”

“People have always expected the end of the world to be a dramatic, thematic event: war, disease, a sudden explosion. But what if the end of the world has already occurred? What if our final demise happened slowly, secretly … and we’ve been oblivious to it all?”
― The Vestige

“The world doesn’t change because the sun sets and rises. We can either adapt to survive our circumstance or we can change it. And I know we can’t control fate, but I’m sure not going to spend whatever time I have left sitting around and waiting for my life to get better.”

“Kanye lied when he said diamonds are forever
When the heat is high, it’s the same as lead on paper
We gradually recreate the movie World War Z
Our worst disease becomes our best form of remedy
Moving sands, no firm ground, we live in fear
We join hands, bottle down, pop the Belvedere
Now the question is have we all punched our clocks? Social media, we fit in a damn box”

“In the beginning was the World, but it was, therefore the past existed before the World. He bowed before the supremacy of the past. The Catholic Church would have much to be said for it, but it allowed too little past. Two thousand years, a part of it only recorded, what does that matter compared to traditions of double or treble that space of years? A Catholic priest is surpassed by any Egyptian mummy. Because the mummy is dead, he may think himself superior. But the pyramids are no more dead than St. Peter's, on the contrary, they are much more alive, for they are older. These Romans think that they have all time in the pockets. They refuse to revere their ancestors. That is a blasphemy. God is the past... A time will come when all men will beat their senses into recollections, and all time into the past. A time will come when a single past will embrace all men when there will be nothing except the past, when everyone will have one faith– the past.”

“The end is not near. The end is not here. What the world is experiencing is not the end of days but a transitional period. Humanity is experiencing growing pains.

“Making-out is one thing that won’t change even if civilization fizzles and humanity is reduced to two people. So each time Jack and I kiss, it’s as if we’re flipping off the jerks who destroyed our planet, as if we’re screaming at the top of our lungs…
We know your secret.
And we won’t be made invisible.”

“A Moment of Joy"
The ruling global elites
are holding their breath in anticipation of
who may be the first to start a nuclear war!
The wealthy and the stock market traders
are fearfully watching the fluctuation in the stock prices…
Writers, media pundits, and academics
on the payroll of power and authority
are worried about a potential revolution
that may put an end to the powers in place,
and consequently to their existence!
Doctors, engineers, and other professionals
are all alarmed and watching the job market
in fear of losing their cushy jobs!
Only the waitress at the nearby restaurant
is experiencing a moment of joy
for the generous tip she just received
from the last customer tonight!

“More young people are opting not to have kids not only because they can’t afford them but also because they assume they’ll have only a scorched or sodden wasteland to grow up in. An increasingly popular retirement plan is figuring civilization will collapse before you have to worry about it. I’m not sure anyone’s composed a more eloquent epitaph for the planet than the stand-up comedian Kath Barbadoro, who tweeted: “It’s pretty funny that the world is ending and we all just have to keep going to our little jobs lol.” (It’s Time to Stop Living the American Scam, The New York Times)”

“They Say the World Will End Soon"
They say the nuclear weapons—born of fear of the other— have become a curse, a plague, a scourge upon those who built them, even more than those they were meant to threaten…
And I wonder: Will nuclear weapons bring about the end of the world? Or will it be humanity’s fear, complicity, and quiet submission?
If what they say is true, before the world ends—and before I die— I wish to drink one last cup of cardamom-flavored tea, to taste one final fig, peach, or apricot, to inhale the scent of a quince, to dip one last piece of bread into Palestinian thyme and olive oil…
Before the world ends, I want to smell pine needles, and breathe the scent of the season’s first rain after a long, dry summer.
Before the world ends—and before I die— I long to read one more book from the thousands still waiting for me.
I ask for one more spring to inhale bunches of Iraqi narcissus. And one more autumn to marvel at the dying leaves— defying death with beauty just before falling upon the indifferent ground.
But most of all, my final wish before I die is that my death not be the end of the world…”

“The final kick of a dying horse may appear forceful or harmful, but it does nothing to stop its inevitable demise.”
