There are actionable steps that fit the modern reality that we live in today. This will be a clear hit for young athletes and especially for athletes of color who are having the opportunity to finally see themselves represented in the financial space.
I adored this financial book. It was clear that Devon feels passionate about how if you put in the work you can and will hit your goals. I loved that he was unafraid to admit flaws, humble brag, and tell his story in an authentic way that reads true for the reader. Kennard shares that he has had some amazing opportunities but also isn't afraid to mention his flaws.
I had great time reading this book and it gave me the inspiration to recognize that what holds me back is simply what I'm choosing to hold me back. I look forward to watching the rest of Kenner's career especially as he lays out how he has set himself up for success after the NFL. Kennard is going to do so much good in his lifetime you can feel it through the passion of his words.

Now that I've finished it and am thinking of writing my review I'm having an even better time thinking of the story and all the adventures. I think this will be a fantastic book to reread because now that I've had time to reflect I realized how much I loved it.
All of our character are lovable and have their own appropriate amount of backstory. You want to hear about everybody that is speaking and having an outside Scribe narrator was a really fun way to give us the lore on our characters and the world around them. This was unique and hilarious. The entire book was original, unique, and genuinely hilarious. You feel like you are apart of the banter with the group, and the internal thoughts and jokes are great. There are a lot of serious big challenges but they're all done in so much style it was a delight.
Having a main character who is a mother and is actively sacrificing her time away from her child was a really interesting perspective. Its not one we often get in fantasy books so seeing how this changed the characters decisions was interesting. We also got to see how having a child has changed her in so many ways but no matter what at the end of the day she is still to her core the same person she has always been with just more room inside of her for love and desires.
I'm not much of a full cast graphic audio so this one was a bit harder to listen to. I typically listen to audiobooks when I drive so some parts were too quiet and I had to pause the book and wait for later when I wasn't driving. But the audio was funny and did add a lot of personality into the book. If you do not have difficulty with different volumes in an Audiobook, or a better stereo than me lol, then this is still a fantastic audiobook to listen to.
If you're looking for a book with adventure and strong momma who knows that no matter what happens she will get through it because she has to, for her daughter. Truly an epic book with fantastic descriptions, and lovable characters.

A House With Good Bones knocked it out of the park. A haunting Southern Gothic that is Scary, Funny, Heartwarming ??, CREEPY, an absolute A++ read.
Laced with southern charm and cheeky comments T. Kingfisher does it again with another fantastic novel. Sam is excited to stay with her mom, after a work project falls through. When she gets there though, something is wrong. Her brother told her that mom had changed but when Sam gets to her house, its like she went back in time. Eerily similar to when her grandmother owned the house before she passed away. As her moms personality changes, and vultures swarm in, Sam has to figure out how to save her family.
Sam is a unique character who has a special interest in bugs and works as an entomology archaeologist. Her unique perspective on bugs and their contribution to the ecosystem of her moms house was intriguing to watch as it was interwoven within the story.
There was a lot of laugh out loud moments with Sam's snarky and spot on comments to all of the other characters around her. I enjoyed most about Sam's wit was the way she interacted with her family and their comments about her love life and body. These were small comments but they packed a big punch and such a nice detail in the grand scheme of family trauma and generational trauma.
If you have ever thought about picking up a horror book you should try this one. It is so much more than just horror and the horrific aspects are rather light. If you enjoyed How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendricks, or if you wish there was something more to it, then you should absolutely pick up this book.

This is much darker than my last Hillier read, Things We Do in the Dark, and far superior! All the fear in this book is palpable and had my heart racing! I loved every moment of this book and could not listen to it fast enough. Reads like a dark thriller that has horror elements and it all works so well together. I wish I could have ignored all my responsibilities to read it even faster.
I think if you are okay with the TW in this book, and love thriller books, then this should be on your to be read right now.
**There are some darker TW so please check those out before

For Aelis's first outpost after graduation she is sent to a small town that she is less than excited for. She believes she is being sent there because she is a female even though she excelled through school and is among the top of her class. We never spend much time exploring as to why she was placed in a small town but the setting gives her many troubles. The small town requested a Warden but never expected it to be a freshly graduated female.
This book somehow was not only action packed but also gave you a more cozy experiencing as the descriptions of food and locations are are vivid with sensual details that emerge you deeply into the story. Aelis gets to know the towns people and battles the difference between familiarity and respect.
This book was a blast! I couldn't put it down and ended up reading the entire book in one day and I was happy as a clam that I could because it was the perfect pace and allowed me to be completely immersed in the book. There was some moments that dragged on a bit but honestly they didn't bother me. It just felt like I got to enjoy more of the story and characters.
The audio narrations was perfect, the voice actor made the audio a breeze to listen to. I enjoyed the differentiation between characters and it allowed me to note new characters but not feel distracted by them. Sometimes in an audiobook changing characters can be jarring but the narrator gives them a differentiation while still being seamless.
This book is a fantastic jump into a book that leads towards high fantasy. The Warden, Aelis, explains the magic world as she goes and discovers new things about the town so the reader always knows their standings with the magic system. There is also a younger character who asks a million questions in the enduring curious kid way, that helps the reader know what is going on or why certain moments mattered.

Jacklyn doesn't have time to figure that out because crew members start disappearance and their remains prove that nothing human could have committed the crime. Faced with the burden that whatever decision Jacklyn makes will directly impact the history of humanity Brown devise's a quick paced story that contemplates human existence.
Overall, this story worked as a novella but I wish that it was a longer story. There was a lot of backstory that was mentioned that would have made the storyline much stronger if we would have had the opportunity to explore more of it....more

Rook is a nonmagic person who grew up in a magical home but was forced to leave it once his grandmother died. Now he is searching for magic in any way that he can get it, he knows that if he is just given a chance he can learn magic. Even though his blood says he has no magic in his body. He makes his way into working at Antonia Hex's office, by charming her with his nonmagic abilities to fix everything she breaks. Now Rook needs to fight the consortium who wants to strip his mentor of her magic and the magical doormat that attacks him every time he crosses the doorway at Antonia's office. (Honestly, the doormat is one of my favorite characters from this book).
Highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an action-packed, and heartfelt, fantasy book. A great book to pick up for new fantasy readers....more
