(I love Nesta)
The sheer magnitude. The sheer....bigness.... of this storytelling is simply something truly remarkable to behold and witness. The way it makes one escape and travel to different worlds....
Storytelling, man.... This is just amazing, fun, crazy, beautiful storytelling.

If it weren't the anticipation of *the*scene and the secondary characters ... Yeah. I dunno. We'll see....more

This is the book that makes one want to cozy up under a blanket with a fire roaring near and a cup of tea to drink. This is the love and joy of reading and the love of writing is so apparent. And I will always love books in any epistolary format. Always. ...more

This one did not disappoint though. LOVED the story, there is a Tristan Isolde feel to it. The world building is phenomenal & immersive. And the writing - I personally LOVE the descriptive, adjective laced, visceral writing. There were quite a few accounts tooting this as the next "Cassian/ACOSF" - Hmmh, I wouldn't go so far as that but I can see glimpses of it in the future and I am definitely here for it. For sure looking forward to the next installment. ...more

The character development in this duology was so special to experience. The complex and intricate magic system. A unique writing style. Swoon worthy romancy. ThI read this AFTER ACOSF - should of read it before but it was still good. Good in the way it gives a bit of filler especially on Cassian and Nesta. I want to climb in here and walk through doors only I can see in tobacco fields." And imaginary therapist would understand me on a whole new different level.
I am forever and always a Time Traveling fiend. There is nothing that brings my little mind alive more than twists and turns of time and the threads that weave and unravel through it.
There is not a book I can think of where there is such amazing character development. There is not a book I can remember with sucChaol. Chaol. Chaol.
There is not a book I can think of where there is such amazing character development. There is not a book I can remember with such a roller-coaster of emotions attached to a certain character. I see some *hate* for Chaol in reviews - I get it, his lows were pretty dang low. But man, who among us has not been in a low - but the redemption here is palpable. Soaring. Hopeful. Brings one to their knees.
On one hand I can count brilliant, genius series ... This series goes into that hand now.
This character goes into my top 3 favorite list of characters ever. ...more

OK. This book. Has broke me.
Despair. The pain and torment. The fuckin torture. There were glimpses of hopefulness but man SJM just kinda stomped most of it out!
Manon Blackbeak is my favorite and I need more. (Chaol remains my shining light but his book is Tower of Dawn - I'm not done with that one yet!)
In the end this is a Gods-damn genius triumph of a book - I did not think SJM could top Queen of Shadows but here we are....

This is the installment where it all shifts.

The world building is phenomenal but what really is the star here is the character building, the foresight, the planning, the weaving and putting it together, the glimpses of what's to come, the suspense, this is pretty much a masterpiece. ...more
