- this book was brilliant - being from the pov of charlotte made it so enjoyable for me - it offered this new look and i absolutely loved observing the world from her eyes - JAMIE JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE AND MORE PRECIOUS WITH EACH BOOK - there's a line where jamie's sad and i actually started crying, that's how emotionally invested i am in this fictional boy's life - he's a little pumpkin :( - THERE'S SO MUCH CUTENESS - the mystery in this book was really well done, i thought it was more developed and followed a closer narrative than the previous ones - i DID however think it got solved a litttttle too conveniently - as the resolution was playing out i was kinda confused at how it could POSSIBLY be that easy for the characters (especially after the dramatics of the previous books) - THE CUTENESS HONESTLY MADE MY HEART GROW THREE SIZES - domestic charlotte and jamie are the reason i believe in love - the cleverness and wit that charlotte has is 👌 - the ending was flkdajflkajlkjf (in a good way and also a bad way) - i !! like !! my !! endings !! closed !! thank !! you !! very !! much !! - but honestly this series means so much to me and it's made me so absurdly happy and i'm so sad to see it come to a close ...more
slice of life stories that occur over the lifetime of the characters??? hell yes!
i am absolutely enchanted by the ability mary beth keane has in craftslice of life stories that occur over the lifetime of the characters??? hell yes!
i am absolutely enchanted by the ability mary beth keane has in crafting this story. it is so real, so complex, so human, i feel like i've lived with these characters, grew up next to them, saw them graduate and become adults, and witness them face trial and test and life
and my goodness, was it an experience.
it's a story of love and forgiveness and acceptance and living, im just filled with emotions and i dONT KNOW HOW TO TRANSLATE IT INTO WORDS
but if you love slow books that are deeply centered around family drama and are heavily character driven and hold SO MUCH nuance, then pick this up RIGHT NOW!!!!!! that's an order!!! (pls c: )
also, i was totally right about this having 'little fire everywhere' vibes ...more

as far as the pros go, i really like how this book took place in india and how the mc had such strong ties with her grandmother. annddd that's all i can think of
cons the characters: they felt shallow and really one-dimensional. theyre supposed to be on this mission to find this item that has this great connection to their grandmother and yet all these girls are talking about,,,,,,nick jonas and going heart eyes at the first ~cute~ boy they see. mhm,,,,dont see the appeal
the writing: i really couldnt connect :/ the pacing wasn't even. the beginning took its time to develop and then the ending just RUSHED through. the writing itself was really hard for me to get into. i'm not even sure what it is, but i've been trying to read this book for a month and coming back to it each time felt tiring.
the conflict: we were going fine with the volunteering at the school and then it took a WILD turn into (view spoiler)[human/child trafficking and had to solve it quite quickly. (hide spoiler)] and i feel like if you want to tackle a topic like that, then you're going to have to use discretion and be sensitive to it and i didnt feel like this book pursued it in the correct way
the romance: oh heh yeah that happened INSTANTLY and pretty much took over the ENTIRE plot 👌 aint that the best

this book has far LESS traveling/road-tripping thabook #1 for summerathon, under the challenge of: "book ft. a roadtrip, traveling, or vacation" ✓
this book has far LESS traveling/road-tripping than i anticipated. i have no idea where i got this notion, but i totally thought this was a book about a roadtrip (wow, someone needs to actually read the blurbs)
heh.
pros - the main character is a snarky little monster and i loved it - the relationship between norris and his mother is so sweet and precious - norris felt like such a honest, true teenage boy. so many times you see characters play into strong archetypes and i felt like his characters wasn't trying to be anything besides who he was. - basically, i really like the originality of his character - the love triangle, i thought so at least, was well-done and didn't feel forced - the entire book felt very natural, like it was developing at its own pace - L I A M - i liked maddie a lot - the ending was very fitting and realistic to the situation
cons - the first half of the book really set a tone and took its time to develop and i felt the second half felt more focused on the teenage drama (which is FAIR i just liked the development part) - the 3rd person narration was sort of jarring at moments - aarti went through the opposite of character development :)))
overall, this was a really refreshing, fun ya read and im glad i picked it up
honestly i think the idea is really cool and uplifting: a bunch of teenagers send their heartbroken letters :/ <- my entire emotions towards this book
honestly i think the idea is really cool and uplifting: a bunch of teenagers send their heartbroken letters in and get these deep and emotional responses from some amazing authors
but in reality it felt like a motivation speech but on replay x17
idk if this was just me, but the letters from the authors started feeling really repetitive. they pretty much followed the exact same format, and 300 pages of that was just a lot
most of the letters were sweet and personal and motivational and empowering most of the time and then there were some parts that made me just go.......yikes, that was totally unnecessary/unrelated
i think the message of this book, at its core, is really kind and sweet but in reality it just felt a lot like :/...more
