i thoroughly enjoyed chloe brown and red a lot more this time around. i think my main qualms on my first read was that i was rushing through it (i forced myself into a readathon that i was clearly not ready for), and the audiobook didn't click me with
reading it in a physical format did wonderssss for my experience this time around, chloe and red are SO!!! BLOODY!!! CUTE!!! and their banter is next level. i can't wait to continue on with this series oh my god

It’s perfect
For all of you who have been debating over whether friends-to-lovers vs. enemies-to-lovers is superior, let me raise you,
lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers
I promise, it doesn’t get better than this
✨ everything I say in this review is 100% factual and based on science as I have reread the book and tried and tested all the theories ✨
You Deserve Each Other is the story of Naomi Westfield and Nicholas Rose, who are engaged to get married and the absolute perfect couple.
The problem is, they Cannot. Stand. Each. Other.
“He’s my only ally. He’s my worst enemy.
Naomi and Nicholas’s relationship has been dwindling down for quite some time. Naomi feels like she is acting all the time. Pretending that their relationship is Prefect!! That everything Couldn’t be Better!!
But as their wedding date approaches, she’s not so sure she can envision herself getting married to Nicholas anymore
In attempts to save herself from having to pick up the massive, growing wedding bill, Naomi concocts a plan to make Nicholas’s life an absolute nightmare until he finally gives in and breaks up with her
Little does she know, her acting skills aren’t that great and Nicholas has other plans in mind
“But I've got news for Nicholas Benjamin Rose: if he thinks I'm not the biggest waste of time that's ever happened to him, he's got another think coming.”
The Relationship
My new favourite favourite favourite thing to read about is couples who have to fight for each other. (bring those recommendations onnnnn!!) We all love seeing the beginning of a relationship where everything is happy and cutesy and fun, but after the couple gets together, the book ends and we get a stamp that says they live happily ever after
But I don’t want that
I want to see the real stuff, the couples who fight and argue and annoy each other and then find a way to make it right because to me, that’s just SO REAL and GENIUNE and SPECIAL
Seeing two people get together is fun but seeing two people fight to stay together is Magical
“Your body’s here, but your head’s somewhere else. You’ve gone and left me all alone.”
Don’t get me wrong, this book is lighthearted for the most part.
It’s filled with jokes and banter and characters who do outrageous things. But my favourite thing to find upon reread was how the characters went from working so hard to break their relationship to genuinely trying to make it work
And seeing those vulnerable moments where they allowed the barriers to come down and stopped all the stupid pranking and bickering to just TELL the other person how they feel and what they want
SO BEAUTIFUL YOU GUYS, SO BEAUTIFUL
“He shouldn’t be this stunned by a nice gesture. It should be a given, but it’s not, and that’s my fault. I’ve been withholding nice gestures to punish him for not giving me enough nice gestures, and just look at how well that attitude’s panned out for us.”
aaaaaaaaaaa emotions!!!!!!
And then there’s the really adorable, really sweet moment that have me ...more

Second time’s the charm, eh? Maybe not bc the rating stays at 3 stars :)
I think from this experience I can conclude that I CANNOT read adult fantasy as an ebook and gotta resort to either physical book or audio bc all the info-dumping usually murders my will to read this is totally unnecessary information you don’t need to hear about why am I like this
“I am the Reaper and death is my shadow.”
- So red rising is a good book contrary to past me’s opinion - It’s creative and twisted and brutal and fierce (and also boring, don’t kill me, bye) - Peirce brown literally has no problem killing any of his characters and he legit shows us this time after time (view spoiler)[ I hate you for hurting my baby Pax (hide spoiler)] :( - Okay so in my professional opinion, I gotta say if you wanna enjoy this book, you GOTTA power through with your hopes set on the ending (last 100 pages) bc that’s REALLY what makes this book great - There’s so much info dumping in the beginning that’s what turned me off the first time I tried to read it and that’s what made it difficult for me to enjoy it this time around - But hey, debut novel and all, we can be nice not really - Um…I hate to say this….but it’s a lot like the hunger games. Not the CHARACTERS necessarily bc this was WAY more gory but more like the premise of kids killing other kids in a massive, fatal game of capture the flag - I’m gonna outwardly say this…darrow is boring. - He’s just a really flat character and while I TRIED REALLY HARD to sympathize with him and the pain he’s faced its just like….dude, try and make yourself likeable or maybe grow a personality ??? - LIKE SEVRO - SEVRO IS GREAT. 10 POINTS FOR ATTAINING A PERSONALITY MY SON
- The worldbuilding in this book, though tedious, was done really well if that’s something you enjoy. It really builds it from nothing and takes extra care to form all those tiny details, which was leaving me in tears from boredom but im sure some people appreciate it - Uh….what the hell was the ending tho - Like that shook me up nice and good and left me thoroughly exhausted and dizzy from all the reveals - Which was great - Also the jackal is a freak. - I just want book 2 to be as good as the last 100 pages of this book was. PLEASE
And to everyone who’s like ‘omg pierce brown’s face!!!!!!! 5 stars!!!! 😍😍!!!!’ I agree, but just please don’t get blinded by his face and jump into this book with those kind of expectations bc even his face couldn’t save me from the boredom that was the first 300 pages :) :) :) :)
“There is a flower that grows on Mars. It is red and harsh and fit for our soil. It is called haemanthus. It means “blood blossom.”
3 stars!!

I seem to never get tired of this book, someIsn’t just fantastic when your computer shuts down and you lose your entire review???? Yeah, same.

I seem to never get tired of this book, some of these stories I LOVE and some were poop but all in all it’s a great anthology.
Midnights: by Rainbow Rowell - I absolutely adored this one, all three times I’ve read it. It’s really one of the perfect ones to start the anthology off with bc it’s short and cute and gahhhh - It’s written by Rainbow Rowell, so it’s like an automatic fav - I loved how it took place over a few years, showing how the dynamics of the friendship between noel and mags grew - Also noel is a little adorable baby, I love his nerdy, outgoing character so much - And rowell also makes the characters so distinct an unique in literally less than 30 pages like amazing - 4.5 stars!!
The Lady and the Fox by Kelly Link - It’s not often that upon a reread I will raise my rating of a book but honestly idk why earlier version me was so bitter towards this story - Initially, I gave it 1 star but rereading it for the 3rd time, I can really see that its REALLY not all that bad - Yes it’s looonnnnggg, yes it feels underdeveloped, yes its weird - But it wasn’t TERRIBLE - I liked the resolution, I like the quirky characters, I like the little trick Miranda played - But I did feel like the fantasy aspect wasn’t developed enough to make much //sense// and that’s where it lacked mainly - 2.5 stars!!
Angels in the Snow by Matt de la Pena - So this one was great. I really really liked the uniqueness of this one - It was fun and realistic and cute and funny too - But I do have to point out this bc for some REASON I MISSED IT?? the first two times and that’s THE CHEATING ASPECT LIKE DUDE WHAT NO - It just sucks because despite how //short// the necessary cheating part lasted for, it still was CHEATING and I can’t overlook that - And so…imma drop one star for that - 3 star!!
Polaris is Where You’ll Find Me by Jenny Han - I feel like Jenny Han’s writing just doesn’t appeal to me - Idk if this is just me, but her characters act so juvenile for their age theyre just throwing tantrums all the time errghghghgh - I think I would have liked it if we got to see more of Lars rather than whats-his-name-irrelevant-flynn - Interesting concept tho, it’s pretty cool, probably something every kid has dreamed of - Just didn’t work for maymay - 2 stars!!
It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins - Stephanie Perkins my queen is back writing these cute as hell stories damn - Her characters are so different like we got a hulking lumberjack boy, aka my son North, and this cute petite Marigold awwwwwweeee - Her stories just work so well and her ideas are so unique and just golden man - I need this turned into a full length novel bc my hearttttt - 4.5 stars!!
Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan - Me and David Levithan don’t seem to get along - There’s just something about his writing that makes me feel so detached from the characters - I quite liked the concept but it felt so frivolous - Like the mc just kept talking about all these deep issues he has and thoughts and insecurities and they just NEVER GET ANYWHERE WITH IT - It felt so unresolved to me bleh - 1.5 stars!!
Krampuslauf by Holly Black - I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this one - I mean it was pretty bad, I didn’t see any point to the story nor did I see any reason for this krampuslauf dude’s existence - Idk it just didn’t sit well with me but a lot of other readers liked it - It was just really long and boring and lacked ??idk a plot ?? - This has probably been a consistent nope for me these past 3 rereads - 1 star!
What the Hell have you Done Sophie Roth by Gayle Forman - This one was sweet. - It delved a little into racial and financial issues without being in your face, it was very smooth and I liked that - Very charming, pleasant read - The mc was super bitter tho omg she was like so negative I was like girl, just take a chill pill once in a while - But it made me have an intense craving for pie and that is truly not acceptable since I don’t have some with me rn :( - 4 stars!!
Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus by Myra McEntire - I didn’t HATE this one but I didn’t like it either - It was kind of weird in a I don’t know whats going on sort of way - Like the kids are doing this play thing and somehow they become all smoldery eyed for each other in a matter of seconds and im like mmmemehhhhhhh - I think it was trying to be funny too but I missed that clearly - So I guess it was kind of boring - 2 stars!!
Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kiersten White - Who is TRASH FOR THIS STORY??? ME THAT’S WHO - Kiersten white gosh dammit can you try and not ruin my life for once??? - I loved this one sm, idk why but it just stuck with me since the first read and I just adored it - I love bennn so much oh my sweet chef darling child - And the family dynamics and friendship and the whole happy spirit about it (even tho it starts off pretty bitter) - I just L O V E this one - Also #food is featured for a good 90% and it the sole reason why people are happy and can I just say, thank you for proper representation bc that is the absolute truth - 5 stars!
Star of Bethlehem by Ally Carter - I like this. It was fun and reckless and wild but it was entertaining - I felt like the romance was really rushed and that put it off a bit for me but it has a nice family aspect to it that warmed my cold heart - And switching identities with a person sounds terrifying yet oddly thrilling - And it didn’t hurt that it had it’s funny bits too - 3 stars!!
The Girl who Woke the Dreamer by Laini Taylor - It’s funny bc I feel so much loyalty towards laini but for some reason this story just didn’t do it for me - The idea is good, the resolution is good but but but but but but - I just disliked how it was built and the lack of worldbuilding it just felt so superficial idk - I really tried to push through this but it was so long and gahhhahghah - But the message was beautiful so, silver linings - 1.5 stars!!
And here are the couples with their respective authors which I thought was super cool: [image]...more
