During the renovation process, the couple hears of a distressing story involving the history of their new home—a murder! 1924 A wealthy young couple, Charles and Helen, owned the home during the prohibition era. They ignored the 'silly' law while holding flamboyant parties that annoyed a local preacher, Brother Ernest, who was determined to sweep the evildoers from his parish. Frightened by escalating threats, they made the hard decision to leave their beloved home to travel until the minister moved on, but before they could escape, Helen went missing, and Charles was blamed for the disappearance.
History seems set to repeat itself unless Logan and Maria can solve the cold case and put a name to the person determined to stop them. I was caught up in the conflict these couples faced and couldn't figure out who was behind the crimes until the very end. Excellent read! ...more

Mateo and Delaney's upcoming nuptials are endangered by the murderess shifter Delilah, who somehow managed to escape her death by inhabiting Delaney's body. Determined to seek revenge against those who wronged her, Delilah tries to force Delaney into a hole in her mind so the evil seductress can carry out her plan to destroy her old lover, Mateo.
Worried but determined to save his fiancée, Mateo enlists his father's help to exorcise the spirit while attempting to appear as though everything is normal when Delaney's mother arrives to work on the wedding plans.
The danger increases with every attempt to end Delilah's sabotage as she grows stronger and Delaney disappears for longer periods of time. Added to this stressful situation, there is a string of fatalities and near-deaths linked to a poison the police can't seem to trace. Life in Grizzly is always interesting!
My favorite part of Ms. Cox's writing style is the all-in connection between her main characters. The reader can't help but root for their HEAs. She is definitely on my go-to list for entertaining stories....more

Riley Thorn has always dreamed of being the normal one in her admittedly weird and wonderful family, but a psychic vision of her annoying next door neighbor getting shot forces her to try and save his ungrateful butt, throwing Riley into a series of crazy misadventures. And the arms of a hot investigator who doesn’t take no for an answer.
Nick Santiago is happy with his life as a private investigator. He picks his own hours and sleeping partners. He’s a free agent and that’s just how he likes it. Until he meets the sassy, sexy Riley and begins to think he’s met his match. If he can keep her alive long enough to convince her, that is.
This is a fun action/adventure romance filled with characters guaranteed to have you laughing such as the eccentric seniors in Riley’s rooming house, her wild-child parents, or the spiritual guide sent to help her learn how to use her psychic gifts.
I love the witty repartee between Riley and Nick- they’re so cute! There are four books in this series and I can’t wait to jump into #2!...more

Forced to escape a bad marriage, Alice and her two sons run to a home she inherited from her uncle (first mistake), and begin new lives, but there are a lot of strange occurrences, including a body in the basement, Not sure who she can trust, Alice begins to wonder if her vengeful husband is behind the frightening events. The author does a scary good job of amping up the tension and making readers question each character's integrity. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, he threw a spin on the plot that left me reeling. Excellent read!...more

Former Marine and now a powerhouse Lawyer, Scott Terentson has been fascinated by Millie for years. They’ve worked together a few times with the Deep Ops group and he appreciates her quick wit and talented mind.
When Scott interrupts an undercover op at a bank run by a bigoted jerk, Millie is blamed and lands in hot water with her commander. Needing time to process, she heads home to lick her wounds and ends up under arrest after waking up naked in her dead ex’s bed. Scott is called in to help, though Millie doesn’t want him there, and the danger amps up with an assassination attempt, more alibies than he knows what to do with, and a growing attraction to the pixie he’s determined to protect.
I wish there would have been more interaction with the Deep Ops crew, but it was nice to see Angus up to his old tricks. This one was more serious than funny, and I think it lacks in that regard. Still a solid read, though.

Each of the three young women are found at various stages of decomposition, making identification a nightmare for the sheriff’s team.
Bree has her hands full with news-hungry reporters, distraught parents, and pressure from counselors to find the killer. Added to that, a rampaging flu decimates her staff, and a case of domestic abuse brings up the past for Bree. Is it any wonder she feels pulled in a hundred directions?
The author softens what could be a hard-boiled police mystery by showing Bree’s devotion to her young niece and nephew (under her care after the death of Bree’s sister), and the growing relationship between her and investigator Matt Flynn. These are my favorite parts of the story, though guessing who the killer is fun too ...more

The premise for Nora RoberA murdered bride, a mansion overlooking the stormy Atlantic Ocean, and a young heiress who gets more than she bargains for. The premise for Nora Roberts’s new mystery is one that sounds familiar, that is until you reach the Victorian house on the Maine coast with our protagonist, Sonya McTavish, and things go bump in the night. If only she wasn’t committed to living there for three years.
Trey, a handsome young lawyer, introduces Sonya to the manor and offers to help her get settled. He also tells her about the history behind a beautiful painting in the foyer depicting the first bride of the manor and her tragic death, along with rumors of her ghost who still resides in the house.
When unexplained items are moved, doors open and close, and lights flicker, Sonya is thrown into the midst of a decades-old mystery.
A great start to a new paranormal suspense series!...more

His mouth is stuffed with Valentine’s Day sweetheart candies, and Kate’s daughter is under suspicion of murder. Laurel knows the teen would never do such a thing, though the animosity between her and her father is no secret.
Complicating matters is a developing relationship between Laurel’s conniving sister, Abigail, and the Special Agent in Charge, Norrs. He’s ready to fast-track the investigation and move on to another case but a second victim with the same M.O. turns up and sends the agents on a cat-and-mouse hunt with the suspects piling up almost as fast as the fatalities.
I’m enjoying this series but feel the author shoves Laurel and her sister’s monochromatic eyes down readers’ throats a bit much and it pulls me out of the storyline. Also, Laurel and Huck went from friends with benefits to a full-fledged couple with a baby on the way rather fast for two people with relationship issues. None of that detracts from the murder/mystery though, and the twist at the end of You Can Die is worth the read!...more
This is a fast-paced action-adventure novel with two teens at the center of a cross-country chase.
Kristen and her deaf brother, Ryan, are grateful to This is a fast-paced action-adventure novel with two teens at the center of a cross-country chase.
Kristen and her deaf brother, Ryan, are grateful to the man they’ve called Dad for the last five years, Tony. He rescued them from an untenable life as the children of crime boss Boyd McIntyre and kept them safe from discovery.
Until now.
Somehow, their father and his men have tracked them to a ranch in the Montana wilderness. During a daring escape, one of Boyd’s men shoots down the twin-engine plane Tony and the kids have stolen, and it crashes into a lake just as a blizzard hits the area. Though Kristen tries, Tony is mortally wounded and urges the children to follow his plan to get them to safety. A plan that will see them traveling miles through dense forests in sub-zero temperatures with the threat of capture around every bend in the trail.
This novel started out good for me, but I was upset when a main character I had empathy for died after the emphasis on his love for the children and his own personal growth. He deserved to triumph over his nemesis, in my opinion. It, and far too many inner thoughts from a raging lunatic done all in italics (which is hard to read!), took away from what could have been a great story.
This was my first Allison Brennan, I’m not sure I would try her again.

She’s married to her high school sweetheart, adores her five-year-old daughter, and lives in a beautiful home. So why do memories of a brutal attack on her younger brother that happened years ago continue to haunt her? The guilt she feels for not being there when Chris needed her the most is a constant ache in her heart, but it’s the spiral into drugs and homelessness he went through in the subsequent years that hurts the most. And now, just when he’s getting his life together and has fallen in love, a ghost from their past makes an appearance and throws the siblings’ lives into chaos.
When a philosophy professor is killed hours after letting all of his household staff go, Detectives Page and Pettifer are baffled by the grisly murder. But soon, a tie to a serial killer from the past comes to light, along with a grainy video of a man Page put behind bars years ago for the random attack that maimed a young Christopher Shaw- who is missing- while his sister is sure someone is stalking her family!
There are multiple timelines at play here, along with enough twists and convoluted turns to keep the reader guessing right to the end. Some scenes are seriously creepy and should carry a warning label, lol. Also, there is a child molestation/murder plotline that may not appeal to all readers.
I enjoyed the gothic noir vibe of this novel. The author did a superb job of building suspense!...more
