It’s a good double mystery and there are interesting characters, though too many perspectives. I wanted to know what happened to Bear and Barbara, but it was a bit meandering and anticlimactic. I didn’t dislike it, but I doubt I’ll remember it....more

My only issue with some of these romance books is that you know it will all work out, so it takes away some of the tension. Of course there’s still the how of it all, which was quite the ride. The epilogues were good. I’m surprised it took until the last one for certain things to come up (no spoilers). It was really sweet at the end and got me to tear up a little.
Now I’ve finished all the Bridgerton books! There’s a prequel one in the kindle copy I’ve borrowed, so I may read that, but I don’t feel I need to. It’ll be good book candy if it need it. ...more

The writing was easy to read but sometimes annoying; the style didn’t always work for me, weird repetitions and partial sentences. No one is very sympathetic, which doesn’t matter for getting justice for Reena, but makes for difficult reading sometimes - I just didn’t like anyone and didn’t care about too many of them. (I’d heard the miniseries was like this, that everyone was awful, and figured the book would help, but meh.) I didn’t really care about… any of it. Also, I understand the nature of this means that most of the story will be fallout, but I feel Reena really got lost here, and we got too much of the perpetrators. I’m glad Reena’s family got some amount of justice for their daughter. I guess I’m glad this story is out there? But it also seems unnecessary to tell. I really don’t know....more

Murderbot was an interesting character/narrator and it’s an interesting concept. I can see what people like and it was enjoyable overall. I didn’t love it like so many people seem to though and I don’t know if I’ll continue the series. Maybe I’ll read synopses and decide from there, but as of right now there are other things I’m more interested in. ...more

LLL described it as a Bavarian A Room with a View and it is a little, but there’s so much more going on. I loved that the main character is early middle aged, that there’s romantic baggage, that she’s questioning her place in her little family unit (brother, SIL, and niece). The descriptions of Germany in 1851 are beautiful. The ending was perfect though I kind of want to see the fall out. I disagree with the introduction as it didn’t feel contemporary to the time to me, but it was really well done. ...more

I don’t really know how to write about it when I don’t know how I feel about it. I seem to be in the minority though as most people seem to love this book. And it’s just not there for me. The writing was gorgeous and there’s something interesting here, it just didn’t quite click for me. ...more

This was surprisingly good. I’m not a big romance person. I’m tired of books about rich/famous people. I’m super picky about most books. But I really liked Cal’s and Lucia’s arcs. The bookstore setting was sweet. Some of it was pretty contrived and I didn’t always believe it, but it was fun. Some of the sex scenes were just bonkers though.
I’m not really sure how I feel about this. It read fast and was interesting for a while. It’s not really horror but saying too much will spoil it and I’m not really sure how I feel about this.
