First, I must confess how much I love the way SDB makes me crave “The Dark Side.” She has such a way of writing that instead of dreading what is on the next page you can hardly wait to find out, even if you are terrified of what you may find. At times while reading, “This is Not a Horror Movie,” (TiNaHM) I found myself back in the eighties reliving my own youthful summers in Longboat Key. The story is perfect because it is the precise blend of campy, spooky, and frightening. The vibes it gave off were much like Stephen King’s, “Silver Bullet,” and “Pet Cemetery,” to me. I loved every twist and turn of it!
“TiNaHM” had a cast of great characters set in one of my favorite places in Florida making this is definitely one for the beach. If you are looking for something teens would enjoy, especially those who do not like reading or like myself cannot read the conventional way, this audiobook is for them. Loads of action, creepy moments, romance (PG), and silly, believable, and relatable family dialogue and storylines all make this the perfect NOT to be missed read.
I always enjoy SDB’s books. However, she has outdone herself with this one. I am absolutely keeping it in my “re-read later shelf.”

This was a sweet story with light Daddy/ boy elements, polyamory, shifter characters, a trans-MC that presented in a way I have never read before, (magically clever), and loads of sMMMexy Sweet times to delight and titillate even the most hardened heart and eardrums.
The narrator, Zachary Zaba, was new to me, but I enjoyed all his characterizations and how he brought Ben, Cy, and Ax to life along with all the other characters in the story.
I did feel I missed a few things not having known a few of the secondary characters who were MCs in the first books of the series. So, I do plan to rectify that for myself by going back and starting the series from the beginning. I also feel it will give me a better understanding of the magic that surrounds the shifters that live in and around Anchorage. I have never read a penguin/ polar bear shifter romance before and found the history and myth surrounding this story intriguing.
I did feel the ending was not complete between Ben, Cy, and Axe and while this could be read as a stand-alone, there was more to be said and it was more of an HFN. Guess we shall see.

This has been the best and worst ride with Seth and Evan, as they hunt down the most diabolical witch hunter to date. Joining forces with a special team in Charleston, led by Cassidy Kincaid, cousin to Simon Kincaid from Morgan’s “Badlands Series,” the guys are in countdown mode because of an unbreakable curse set against them. This story was filled with treacherous ups and downs for the cast and brilliantly told once again by Kale Williams. The dangerous ride begins on the first page and does not let up until the very end. The most dark and exciting tale yet!

When I began the “Soulbound” Series journey I never expected to find a paranormal world that encompassed all the myths and legends of old. The most unique part of the story-weaving is how each deity is intertwined with another, no matter their origin or mythos. Just as, “No man is an island,” neither is a god(ess), even if they believe themselves to be.
In this ongoing series, the action and drama are outstanding. The romance between the two MCs is there and it is a strong point in the series, however, the story is not run over or overshadowed by too many bedroom interludes (is that ever really a thing).
Patrick and Jono (MCs) are joined by an extraordinary cast of misfit characters (the pop-tart-loving Wade is my favorite) who make up The NEW YORK CITY GOD PACK. These guys fight daily for their right to live free from the pressures of gods, demons, shifters, and magical humans, all while keeping innocents safe. This book ripped my guts out a couple of times, and I began to think the series would end here. However, this is an HFN… of sorts.
As always Furlong was stupendous with the narration, so nothing but 10’s 10’s 10’s across the board!
If you love PNR and you especially love one that is filled with lots of good action do not miss this audiobook series!

This urban fantasy caught me by surprise. I loved how the character stereotypes were a complete mash-up. The hero had more issues than the guy he rescued, the good guys (who were supposed to be immortal vampires) did NOT all naturally have Jackie Chan a$$ kicking skills.
The romance aspect was different too, as it had a “fated mates,” vibe that went beyond what most PNR romances offer. It was a fresh take and one I enjoyed.
Overall, an enjoyable read by a new to me author. Tons of open-ended storylines to continue the series for secondary characters to find their HEA. There just happens to be a very snarky wolf and a sassy vamp that I am very much looking forward to seeing more of. ...more

I am enjoying this series of misfit alphas. I always enjoy stories filled with flawed characters who need to grow, do some introspection, find their place in life, community, and themselves.
Lucian and Thirteen were great together and complimented each other in many ways. This hurt/ comfort Shifter Romance felt a little more on the violent side to me than book one. However, it did end with an excellent HEA and promise of more excitement to come, in book three.
As always, Hawke knows exactly what her fans love, and she makes it her mission to deliver just that. If you love Alpha/ omega romance, fated mates, Mpreg, found families, or just looking to try a new author, Susi Hawke’s “The Defiant Alpha,” on audio with Nick Russo narrating is perfect. Rawr! ❤

This historical romance is a window into the lives of two young men before the start of the Revolutionary War. Both living in Maine, one man, Nate, has just taken a job in the office of the other, Sam. “Rebel” is a friends to lovers series prologue that subtlety hints at how politics, even in a land far from the rule of its king, dictated friendships, religious experiences, and threats of war.
“Rebel,” was the perfect intro for “King’s Man,” due out later this month. For anyone who loves historical romance.

It had been quite some time since I had read a contemporary MC (motorcycle club) romance and I must confess I began this one with a little trepidation after the last few left me wanting.
Both the authors and the narrator were new to me and that excited me. The fact that this was a series made this a no-brainer for me. I need to add here, this is not a stand-alone series, but a serial bout two main characters, Ward and Slim, the Pres. and VP of the Motorcycle Club, Iron Hunters.
The three-book series begins after the death of the Club’s current Prez, Ward’s father. The story takes place in the hills of Tennessee and just as the winding roads of those hills there are twists turns, lots of action, secrets, some violence, forbidden romance, hurt/ comfort, and very smokin hawt scenes between tough as nails bikers. Iron Hunters is fully engaging and highly entertaining.

I absolutely adored this story. An age gap with a minuscule amount of angst. The MCs met because Matt, the younger MC was an escort and Lucas was his client. This story is in no way a “Pretty Woman,” remake. This is an original tale the listener can lose themselves in because it goes beyond the MCs and includes a cast of relatable secondary characters. The humor was great in the familial situations as were the intense moments. There always has to be someone "stirring the pot" when family gets together. Right?!?...more

After a Winter of dreariness and discontent, along comes a story filled with new beginnings, the language of flowers, and the quiet and desperate truths of indie shop owners. A modern-day romance with delightful characters who warm the heart, pull out the chuckles here and there and even stir emotions of hope, friendship, and found family.
I loved everything about this story from the occupations of the MCs, the colorful characters, and even the title reference. Every aspect of this book was charming and delightful.
One cannot go without mentioning the out-of-this-world narration done by the incomparable, Joel Leslie. What makes Leslie stand out above the rest, in stories such as, “Natural Twenty,” is his ability to land the jokes; to pause, if even for a nanosecond while the listener’s brain catches on to the pun or punch line. Joel’s style when it comes to the intimate scenes is so hot, the images become tattooed in your mind to savor for later.
If you need/ want/ desire a book to escape into, “Natural Twenty,” is definitely going to ping all the right spots in your imagination. You will gobble up the friendships like a tasty treat and savor the romance like a decadent wine.
I highly recommend this dual POV story about a florist who speaks through his flowers, and a small bookshop owner trying to keep from losing himself in the stacks.

It was so great to go back and enjoy this story in its audiobook form. I read Brice’s “Loose Ends,” exactly a year ago. Even after a year away, the story has not lost any of its flavor. In fact, it is a little more spicy and flavorful because of the Supreme voice talents of Narrator, Kale Williams.
The book may stand on its own, in the paranormal romance department. However, it is a much more delightful story to enjoy if the reader starts at the beginning of the series. The entire series is masterfully crafted, by Brice, with only the finest paranormal elements used to weave tales about a psychic medium and his police detective partner in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
This particular story brings trouble to the door of Simon (psychic) and Vic (detective) from their past. As each man fights his personal demons, as pieces fall into place, Simon and Vic discover they must fight together as a team to battle the deadliest trouble of all…fear.
I must confess, even though I know the ending, this story still got to me, because of everything Simon and Vic go through. These two guys love each other so much, but man do they get put through the wringer in this book.
Even if you have already read, “Loose Ends,” you will still enjoy the audiobook. Kale Williams IS the voice of this series, and he is just awesome! ...more
Aloysius Tales Three starts with a bang, quite literally, which lands the powerful Witches’ CoCataclysmic Shift (Audiobook) MMy Thoughts & Confessions:
Aloysius Tales Three starts with a bang, quite literally, which lands the powerful Witches’ Coven leader’s familiar in the local vet’s office. It is here that Aloysius wakes to find himself naked, alone, and with only fragments for memories. Thankfully, the vet, Luke, thinking Al just a young man in need of help, like he once was, has a desire to see the beautiful Young man restored to his family and friends, whomever and wherever they may be. However, Luke is constantly looking over his shoulder in fear of a past that will find and take revenge on him one day, for escaping its clutches, a year ago.
With both their fractured souls in their hands, Luke and Alian are purrrrfect for each other. They just might achieve that HEA we long for them to have IF they can keep rival covens, bad guys with guns, and their own hearts open to each other. That can be tricky when both Men have secrets, and those secrets can get them killed at any moment.
Book Three was a lot less heavy than Book Two had been. The MCs, and secondary cast (including all the animals) helped give this story a much lighter feel.
I have enjoyed this audio series immensely and I am sad this is the last book in the series. If you enjoy gay paranormal series where the cast of characters extends over into each book, you will love this audiobook series. Kurt Graves is incredible as the narrator.

One of the reasons why I like to go into books “blind,” meaning I do not read the blurb or others’ reviews, is that I often find when I do, my brain tends to attach a sort of bias to the story. I must confess, because of the title, I DID in fact read the blurb and I wish I had not.
The premise of the story was great. I am always on board for urban fantasy shifter stories and “Leather and Lace,” promised a world much like that of “Supernatural,” with all the snarky banter and hunting down killer monsters. While I liked the idea of the hunter storyline, and there were some cute bits here and there regarding the different personalities of the two MCs, Cash (human) and Dorian (vampire), the angsty relationship between the guys drove me nuts.
The story also did the past and present flip-flop between chapters that has become quite trendy in the new releases I have read recently. While this may not be a problem for some readers, for others it can be distracting if it takes a paragraph or two before realizing, “okay, the MC is experiencing a flashback.”
Overall, the story was an okay read. I am unsure if this is the beginning of a paranormal series or not. However, if it is, I hope Cash and Dorian have worked past their angsty period by the time book two rolls out.

Needing a little “pick-me-up” I decided to pull something from my TBR mountain. I am so glad I went with, E.J. Russell’s “Cutie and the Beast.” This was an adorable tale about a disaster of a temp employee who could never find the right fit for himself in a job. David had a big heart and wanted to be the best employee in the workplace he could be. Unfortunately for him, his newest assignment was office clerk to a curmudgeonly psychiatrist, Alun, who was good with his clients, but had no interpersonal skills when it came to his office staff. The pair were like a summer storm, hot with dark brooding clouds that could quickly form bolts of lightning from anger or swiftly swirl and bind together to form twisting tornadoes from their passion for one another.
I loved all the secondary characters, the clients who came to the office, the brothers to Alun, and the Aunties to David. This amazing cast of characters, all given a soul through the luminous voice acting of Joel Leslie. ***sigh… Being spirited away in this story was great fun and I am looking forward to my next journey with Russell.

Book two in The Aloysius Tales picks up a year after book one. In this delightfully wicked tale, young witch Sammy, who is an art major and prophetic witch painter by nature, finds himself painting two gorgeous Men. The first, his crush since their first year in college, Ryder, who has returned from summer vacation so changed he is hardly recognizable, and if Sammy found him attractive before, he is definitely the stuff of Sammy’s dreams now. The second guy Sammy has prophetically painted is exquisite and could have only come from heaven…or fallen from there, only time will tell.
Sammy’s dilemma with these gorgeous men is the fact that the one guy he’s known for years is both human and straight, so completely unavailable, while the new guy, is mysterious, charming, an art major like Sammy, and for reasons Sammy cannot fathom, Lucian wants him. Sammy has also found himself strapped with another male; Witch-Master Killian’s familiar, Aloysius, has decided to play protector and matchmaker once more.
This tale curved a little darker than the first. Even though an urban fantasy because it dealt with magic, witches, and other beings, underneath it also had elements of dub-con and manipulation. I was thrilled that the Witch-Master and his wonderful husband Blaine got some page time to themselves. I love all the characters in this little series. All the young witches have varying powers, each so different from another. Sammy’s though, wow! When the full reveal happens, it is just wonderful! I adored his character so much anyway (I think it’s the painter/ artist connection) so I cheered for him from the beginning.
You cannot go wrong with this audio series. Kirt Graves does an amazing job.
